Reviews for A Well Too Deep

This fanfiction is utterly breathtaking and I must insist that you give us a yaoi scene (if you so find the time, of course). You have not drenched us in smut with your artful storytelling, and for that I am thankful--but I believe another yaoi scene at this point in time would serve as meaningful a purpose as the last one.

I do rather adore the setting for this story, though. Too few YYH fanfictions disregard the reality of the world that the tantei are in, and I am relishing in the creativity that is true to Togashi-sama's initial depiction of the series. To me, this story is on the same pedestal as "The Meikai War", "White Blindness" and "The Beginning", insofar as the setting is delightfully poignant and the characters adeptly portrayed with all their strengths, personality traits and weaknesses intact.

I do hope you find a moment to update. I shall be awaiting the next chapter with bated breath (even if you make it a yaoi scene or not). I look forward to the conclusion, regardless. :3

I have really enjoyed reading your story. It was a real pleasure reading something so deep. I'd put your story in the Best Seller list any time.

I forgot to vote! I vote yaoi scene. Although in that setting it's likely to be very disturbing. But if it is not disturbing, then it loses it's power.

Wow. That was some ritual. The only way I can desccribe it is sick precision. I've never been into the blood-play thing, but your descriptions were intriguing. I think that if you meant to emphasize the cruelty and destruction required to allow something as innocent as love to be expressed, you did a fantastic job! I felt so sad for Hinako and resentful of the gods that forced this ritual to exist. I also felt very sad for Koenma and Botan. One thing I did feel relieved about was that the room/corridor had seemed to have not been used in so very long. I have this underlying concern that if another couple summoned Koenma for this ritual, he would have to use Botan as his sacrifice. Although, there is the matter of Kuwabara and Yukina... But instead of wondering what if and what could happen, I will wait for your next chapter. I hate that this has to be a death fic. It's so very unfair. I appreciate Kurama's words, though. I was very touched by his speech to Koenma, and it made me wonder if I would be selfish or if I would care about that if I were in that type of situation. After all, it seems Kurama is to be a sacrifice, himself. It really drove home the temporary status of Hiei and Kurama's relationship. They'll never have their happily ever after, and that tone is present under all the ongoings. It's very sad, and very powerful. Well done.

Um, for lack of better words - holy crap on a stick! This chapter was absolutedly incredible. The entire sacrifice scene was raw and very disturbing - they way it should be - something as important as that should not be belittled and I was blown away by how you portrayed the reality of the situation and the strength and nobility of Hinako. Kurama's words were exquisite, and I appreciate how both he and Hiei felt no guilt.

Also, Kurama's pain and suffering during the night before the event was almost palpable, and I loved how Hiei was carefully comforting him with small doses of energy. This entire story is so beautiful and tragic, and the words you choose, along with how you place those words, make this one of the best stories I've read on aff.net.

and - yea - I VOTE FOR THE YAOI SCENE. (You never need to ask that question around me). Since I put it all in caps, does my vote count twice? :)

    Hello!
I don't usually visit this site for fanfiction, but I saw this fic and couldn't help to be interested in it! I was hoping it would be complete so I wouldn't be stuck in the middle, but I wasn't too lucky.
Anyway, not only it has an amazing plot, but there are also some things I'd like to ask. Though English is my first language, I'm too used to read and write in Spanish that they are things I don't understand. So, Kurama has this spirit in him which he must contain until the end, so he can beat the army and die later; but he wants to break the taboo for him and Hiei; right? And he must sacrifice someone that Koenma chooses...? But why Koenma?
And I was also wondering, since I don't visit this often, would it be possible if you told me when you update the fic so I cal keep on following it? Of course, I'd sent you reviews.
    Yours truthfully,
    Kari Ishikawa

Due to technical difficulties, I cannot sign in right now. I wanted to leave you a review anyway.

I know this story will be sad. I have known it from the beginning. Yet I still hope that there is a happy ending. I know; I'm soft. But still. The way you write brings me so close to the characters that a character death will be traumatic. I'd better just brace myself, huh?

I really love the way you write the characters. It's very believable and very comfortable. It's like being around old friends. Does that make sense? They are the same characters I grew to know in the anime, and you write them so naturally that I feel I have known them for a very long time. Whether it makes sense or not, I mean it as a compliment.

Very nice update. I await, and yet dread, your next update. I await it because I know it will be as good as the rest. I dread it because I know it will bring me one step closer to a tragedy that will most likely haunt me for some time. Still, I will read faithfully.

I am beyond glad that you updated this story (as this is my favourite). The tone is an amazing mix of strength and despair, no matter what characters the plot is focusing on at the time. I really liked how Kurama's countenance took on a slightly sharp egde, and Hiei didn't seem to mind - he actually liked it. I loved the interaction between the two at the end of the chapter, I really can't get enough of them, especially with all the emotions swirling around them at this point in the story.

And I was wondering about the Yukina/Kuwabara situation, I'm glad you addressed it.

I can't wait until the next chapter, the teaser was just too amazing.

It's back! You're back! Yay! This story has stuck with me since I first read it, and I had thought maybe you were not going to continue it. I am very glad to see you posted another chapter, and I enjoyed that chapter very much. No pressure to rush, but I do look forward to your next update. I feel really sad for everyone, though. I mean, hie and Kurama have to go through all of that just to be together and be able to tell each other how they know they fel. Koenma has to give up Hanako, and the poor girl goes willingly to her fate. After all of this, Kurama knows he is dying, so even this bright love the demons share may be short lived. (I say maybe with a glimmer of hope... But I doubt that is in the cards. That just means the fic will haunt me even more, in the morose kind of way.) Anyway, this chapter will stick with me as well, I am sure. This story is haunting (in a good way so far) and again, i look forward to more.
