Hidden Past

Not much is told about Youko Kurama past. Even Youko Kurama human form doesn’t know much about him. But one night that hidden forgotten past shows up on one of the yu yu gang door steps. How much is this going to change Kurama life. And will he have to give up his demon secret to his family.

Chapter 1

Voiceless Child

The rain was pouring hard outside. Yusuke was board out of his mind. No missions, no friends over, no Keiko. Yusuke eyes moved up slightly as a small knock came from his door. Yusuke stood up walking to the door and open it. He found a chibi fox demon standing there. The boy was wet and shivering. He stared at Yusuke with big chibi eyes.
“Eh? Who are you kid? Where’s your parents?” Yusuke asked. It was later, what kind of demon would leave a child in ningen world? The chibi demon didn’t say anything. His for ears went down as he started to whimper and cough from being cold.
“Well come in.” Yusuke said as he open the door all the way to let the chibi demon inside. The little boy walked in quietly.
“Come on yet get you out of those wet clothes so you don’t get sicker” Yusuke said as he got a towel, then helping the boy out of his wet clothes and dry him off and then put the boy in one of his t-shirt while the kids clothes dry. The little boy still whimpered
“Hey… You’re alright now. What happen to you kid?” Yusuke asked as he cover him in a warm blanker. The little boy looked at him before pointing to his neck as if saying that he couldn’t speak. His little tail wrapped around his own body. As he nuzzled into the blanket and moved to the back of the couch slightly away from Yusuke.
“oh… I guess you can’t talk…” Yusuke whispered. ‘maybe the other guys know what to do.’ he thought. Yusuke stood up and went getting the phone. The little boy watched before moving over near Yusuke taking some paper.. He spelled out his name the best he could in English. He wrote Damien and then pulled on Yusuke arm to show him the paper.
Yusuke set the phone down not getting an answer at Kurama. “ What is it?” he asked looking at the paper. “Oh, your name is Damien” Yusuke said with a smile. “Well it’s nice to meet you Damien, I’m Yusuke” he said. Damien fox ears went up slightly as he smiled at the spirit detective.
Yusuke knowing Hiei wouldn’t be any help so that only left Kuwabara to help, Being Keiko was out of town. And Botan wasn’t going to be much help nether. Yusuke dials Kuwabara number. Telling him to come over with a couple of things. Of course not telling him why.
A hour later.
Kuwabara stared at Yusuke slightly as Yusuke open the door. “Why you tell me to bring some of my old kid clothes and toys?” Kuwabara asked.
Yusuke point to where Damien sat. “You see him there? That Damien. He’s a demon as you can tell and I think he’s lost his way. I don’t know how long he may have to stay here.” Yusuke said. “and to give you a heads up. He can’t talk either.” Yusuke add.
“Aww poor little guy” Kuwabara said coming in. Kuwabara was good with animals so he had to be good with Kids. Damien looked up slightly as Kuwabara walked over to him. “How a demon kid end up here? Who want to leave someone as cute as him” Kuwabara said as he gave the bag to Damien so he could look though the toys. Damien quietly pulled out a teddy and hug it.
Kuwabara smiled quietly. “How about we get some clothes on ya. Yusuke may want his shirt back” Kuwabara said as he set the other bag down. Damien nodded.
“Wow Kuwabara, You’re really good with kids” Yusuke said with a sweatdrop.
“Got a big family. I’m one of the oldest. So I’m around a lot of little kids” Kuwabara said.
Damien picked out some clothes. Kuwabara helped Damien get dress.
“Couldn’t get a hold of Kurama?” Kuwabara asked.
“No, nobody picked up.” Yusuke said as he looked to Kuwabara.
“That weird he mostly home. Oh well glad you didn’t call shorty. He would of said ‘hn’ and tell ya to kick him back out on to the road.” Kuwabara said. Yusuke laughed quietly.
“So how old are you Damien?” Kuwabara asked. Damien looked up holding up 4 fingers.
Kuwabara blinked. “Jeez he looks a lot like Youko. But for his eyes. The yellow one go but the bluest green is different. Don’t you think so Yusuke?” Kuwabara asked.
“yeah.. Now that you say it… He does look like Youko a lot…. Wow you had some awesome eyes Damien” Yusuke said.
Damien blinked slightly touching the side of his face near his eyes and smiled.
“But he to young to be Youkos right? I mean Youko been Kurama for the past 19 years now. And Damien only 4” Kuwabara mumble as the little demon tail wag happily.
“Yeah… it doesn’t really make sense” Yusuke said thinking.
They both looked over. “heh the kid asleep… should I stay over?” Kuwabara asked.
“I don’t care” Yusuke said. He smiled as he watched the chibi demon sleep peacefully.
Kuwabara went picking up the little demon. Kuwabara face dull slightly. “Didn’t notice this before. His neck all black and blue.” he whispers as he lifted the little demon hair to show Yusuke.
Yusuke came over. “…Who would hurt a child” he mumble.
“May have been the reason he here. You know how people leave their kids at another house to keep them safe. Maybe some demon though it be a good idea to leave him here with you” Kuwabara mumble. “Poor kid” he add as he watched the little boy stuck his thumb.
Yusuke looked sad. “you’re probably right.” he said. ’the kid must have had a hard life’ he though.
“Well where you want him to sleep” Kuwabara asked, as he shifted the sleeping chibi demon.
“I wonder maybe he should stay with one of us… If I know little kids, they get scared easy in the night.” Yusuke said.
Kuwabara held him out to Yusuke. “I dressed him you take him” Kuwabara said.
Yusuke sweatdropped. “Alright” he said as he took Damien from Kuwabara. Kuwabara head off to the guest room.
**Later that Night***
Damien started to cry in his sleep waking Yusuke up. Yusuke rubbed his eyes with a yawn. “Hey Damien, wakeup.” he said as he touched Damien shoulder. Damien let out a quiet scream. It sound gaggle. He mouth out don’t touch me it hurts. Damien whimper as his eyes shot open.
“Sshh. It’s alright Damien, it’s just me Yusuke remember?” he said quietly. The little demon whimper as he moved into Yusuke arms hiding his face in Yusuke chest.
Yusuke’s eyes saddened as he held the little boy. ‘what happened to you?” he though.
**next Day*
Yusuke and Kuwabara took Damien to the pack. “I feel strange taking a kid to a pack. It make me feel like he’s my kid” Kuwabara mumble slightly making a face.
Damien looked around slightly as he sat on the swing. His tail and ears hidden. Yusuke had gotten a hold of Kurama of course once again not say why or anything. They also had a feeling that Hiei was going to show up.
They looked up as Kurama walked up. “Hey Kurama. Glad you came. We need a little help.” Kuwabara said lightly. The three also knew Hiei was there in the tree.
“Oh…What is it?” Kurama said calmly. Yusuke pointed over to Damien who was playing.
“That’s Damien… He showed up at my door step last night… He’s a fox demon… and for some reason he looks a lot like Youko. But he’s a little to young to be yours. Unless you been hiding something” Yusuke said. Kurama looked over shocked.
The little demon ran up his hat falling of showing his fox ears. Hiei jumped down and looked to Kurama with a raised eyebrow. “you been hiding something fox?” Hiei mumble.
Damien looked to Kurama. His gold and blue eyes stared into Kurama greens ones. Kurama blinked. “I….Don’t remember anything…” he said quietly.
“You may not. Youko may know though” Kuwabara said. Damien now held Yusuke hand hiding as Hiei looked to him. Guessing he was scared of Hiei.
“Hey, he’s the same height as you, you shouldn’t be sacred” Yusuke said, getting a growl from Hiei. At least Damien giggled. Kurama paused for a moment. Youko was trying to come out, But with all the people around. It wouldn’t be a good idea.
“He hadn’t said a word yet nether” Kuwabara add.
“Baka he’s got a spell on him to keep him quietly” Hiei grumble. Damien nodded to show Hiei was right.
“Why don’t we go to Genkai” Kuwabara said.
Yusuke put the hat back on Damien head who made a face. “Don’t want the weird humans to put ya in a laboratory do you?” Yusuke said with a slight smiled. Damien nodded. “Make sure there cover.” Yusuke add.
Once at the steps of Genkai Damien was able to take the hat off and let his tail out. Which he was happy for as he ran up the steps of the temple.
“Jeez he got some energy” Kuwabara mumble trying to keep up with him. Yusuke laughed. He wasn’t even gonna try to keep up with the kid.
Once at the top Damien sat down waiting on the others to get there.
The other soon made it to the top. Damien looked up as Kurama walked up to him. Kurama took a deep breath he then closed his eyes and soon Youko stood in his place Youko open his eyes, his tail swishing.
Damien stared up at the tall demon felling back on his butt. “Oh yeah shorty you know how to get the spell off?” Kuwabara asked. Hiei growled and looked off.
Youko looked down at Damien from his full 7 ft height.
“Come on Hiei, we aren’t going to find out anything unless you take that spell off him.” Yusuke said.
Hiei grunted something as he turn and walked over to Damien who whimper slightly as Hiei came up. Hiei rolled his eyes. “I’m not going to hurt you” he grumble as he took his headband off to show his jagan. Youko watched calmly as Hiei removed the curse. He still hadn’t said anything himself.
Damien blinked as his voice returned. “thanks” he whispers I a hoarse voice. He then looked to Youko slightly.
Youko turn nodding to a tree for Damien to follow him. The two walked away from the others. The little boy looked up at Youko once away from the others.
“From your looks and scant you’re my son. Who your mother?” Youko asked.
“My mother is Cy.” Damien mumble.
Youko eyes slightly widen mostly meaning that Damien was truth was his son.
“Where is your mother?” Youko asked.
Damien looked to his feet saddle. “He doesn’t yet her out anymore.” Damien answered.
Youko’s eyes filled with concern. “Who is he?” he asked.
“Zuro…momma mate… Not that she got to pick. She wanted to come find you when she found out about me…. But she couldn’t fight Zuro when I was still in her stomach.” Damien whispers looking back up. “Then she learned that you been killed. She almost gave up. Until she heard about you showing up in the dark tournament. So been trying to find you. But in the end she could only get me here. I was lucky to find Yusuke” Damien said.
Youko’s eyes sadden…so that’s what had happened. The day Cy was to show up If she had really chose Youko as her mate. She couldn’t and then years later he got himself wound so badly and had to take off to ningen world to re-gang his powers.
“I’ll find her… But until then I want you to stay with Yusuke… and be good. Okay?” Youko said he was ready to seek revenge on this Zuro.
“No…I don’t want to stay…” Damien said as he started to cry. He move up to Youko taking hold of Youko leg.
Youko gently lifted up Damien. “I know your mother doesn’t want you hurt and either do I….I need you to stay here where it’s safe.” he said.
Tears filled Damien eyes and down. “Noooooooo…. I want to be with you daddy.” he sobbed. Youko rubbed Damien back. “Damien … please…” he whispers. “I can’t leave when you’re like this.”
“I want to stay with my daddy” Damien sob as he holds onto Youko shirt. “mommy wanted me to stay with you” he cried.
Youko eyes saddened. ‘But I can’t leave Cy with that Zuro’ he thought.
“She said she going to try to come back” he hiccup. “please don’t leave me to” Damien cried, as he nuzzled into Youko.
Youko looked heartbroken. “I’ll stay Damien… I’ll stay…” he said. He couldn’t bear to see the child cry like this. It must have been his human heart thinking this. Damien slowly started to calm down.
The others watched as Youko walked back to them carrying the hiccupping chibi demon.
“Thank you for watching him” Youko said to Yusuke and Kuwabara.
“…oh does that mean that Damien is your son. But ain’t the years wrong. I mean he 4 and I know you haven’t got laid in a while” Yusuke said.
Youko made a face at Yusuke before sighing. “4 in demon years 40 in human years.” Youko answer.
