oO; It’s amazing how fast the time goes... gomen, all... ^^;;; I suck. Nerf Darts are in the usual place... help yourselves. (108 reviews! WOW! *dies of shock*)
Oh. Err.. I think the last chapter ended with Yusuke attacking already. For continuity’s sake, let’s pretend it didn’t. *rubs back of neck* I get so messed up sometimes. Forgive me, please?
One more thing! Errr... Bloodiness. Ew. Ick. Fun to write, though! ^-^

Kurai watched Hiei dash down the hallway, and knew, in that moment, that all was lost. If they didn’t even deem it necessary to consolidate their forces, they could tell that Kin’s damnable sacrifice had drastically decreased his energy level.
Quite reluctantly, he returned his gaze to the teen that still stood a short distance away from him... and who was now glowing an alarming shade of blue. The prince shrank into a defensive position and set his jaw.
Yusuke clenched his fists at his sides. "Kurai... Normally, I’d feel pity for someone who was so weak." He cracked his knuckles and allowed a grinstrestretch across his face. "However... What you’ve done is unforgivable."
"Hmph. Foolish boy. No matter how diminished you may think I am, you are still merely human, whereas I am a demon. This guarantees my victory more than any other factor." He was bluffing, of course, ing ing that he could stall long enough for some of his guards to barge in on the fight. He could feel a couple about three hallways away, but it was possible that it was a little too far.
Yusuke scoffed. "If you think I’m an ordinary human, you’ve got another thing coming... And Kurai?"
"Yes?"
"I’m not one to be fooled into stalling." Then, in the blink of an eye, he had closed the distance between the combattants and sank a fist into Kurai’s stomach.
In the split second before it took him to feel the pain, Kurai’s eyes widened. He hadn’t even perceived the human’s movement... Then, a grunt escaped his lips and he stumbled backward, trying to regain his footing and catch his breath at the same time. "Not bad..."
"You think that was something?" Yusuke’s eyes narrowed. "You’re in for a nice surprise, then." He charged again, and this time, Kurai managed to anticipate his movements, and intercepted the boy’s hands with his own.
They remained in this deadlock for a while, their palms together and their energy crackling around them, resembling a battle aura. The tips of Kurai’s claws dug into the back of Yusuke’s hand, making him wince, but he held firm, exerting a constantly increasing pressure and easing Kurai backward.
The prince realized that he was losing his leverage a little too late; his feet sank into the splintered stone at his feet as Yusuke yanked him forward into a headbutt, then kneed him solidly in the chest.
Once more, Kurai was reduced to stumbling backward and cursing himself for concentrating his studies on his mental prowess instead of his physical. Since Yusuke was freed from his influence, he couldn’t even use his own power against him...
Knowing that all was lost, he charged forward in a rather foolish move, lashing out with his left leg. Yusuke dodged, but Kurai was unexpectedly quick, and his leg struck the teen’s upper thigh. It wasn’t a serious blow, by far, but Yusuke froze as he heard a distinct sound.
The tinkle of cracking glass.
Hice sce stricken, Yusuke reached for his pocket, and felt that the Key was still whole, but then what...
Glaring at Kurai, he raised his hands in front of him and bega pre prepare his now-oldest attack. "You’ll forgive me if I don’t deem you worthy of a stronger attack," he grated. "But I need to get the hell out of here." As the blue glow collected at the end of his index finger, he muttered, "Die, bastard," before crying out the name of his attack.
"SPIRIT GUN!"

Hiei flitted down the numerous halls, becoming visible for a moment before taking off once more. He wasn’t running on instinct any more; he could easily smell Kurama’s distinct scent, as well as the coppery scent of blood that hit the back of his tongue like a bitter liquid.
Doors blurred by on either side as he neared the source of the scents - until he halted at an open door. Through it, he could see a bed. The end of a chain was attached to one of the bedposts, and he tracked it with his eyes into an adjacent room.
A sick feeling gathered in his stomach as he approached the doorway into the other room - and he froze as he absorbed the situation.
A very blooded Kurama lay in the floor, and Hiei was alarmed to note that, due to the hue of Kurama’s hair, he couldn’t tell how badly he was hurt - his hair blended quite well with the blood around his head. Over Kurama stood a very naked Yato, and Hiei could feel his control falter as he stared down the hulking demon.
Vibrating with suppressed rage, Hiei managed to speak. "I believe I told you not to touch him."
Yato grinned crookedly. "How could I resist, shorty? He was every bit as irresistable as I thought he would be."
Drawing his sword, Hiei held it parallel to the ground in front of his eyes. "I swore that you would die by my hand, Yato."
Yato spread his arms wide. "Just try to kill me. I’m not the only one with protective powers over my minions. As long as Kurai lives, I cannot be touched!" He broke out in obnoxious laughter, and Hiei’s restraint vanished. He darted forward and sank his sword into the chest of the larger demon.
Yato laughed, and Hiei was unable to mask the disgust he experienced; he could feel the flesh of Yato’s lung compressing around his blade. The wound wasn’t even bleeding like it should have been.
Stifling his mirth, Yato reached forward, grasped the koorime’s hand that held the hilt of the sword, and pulled forward, forcing the sword in to the hilt. "You seem to have forgotten..." he hissed. "I like the pain..."
Hiei yanked back on his sword, but Yato didn’t release him. "Maybe you’ll learn, koorime, that you have no chance while you- while you’re..." He trailed off, then gasped.
As Hiei watched, a trickle of blood made its way down Yato’s chin. A second later, his hands were drenched in a torrent of the stuff, flowing unchecked from the stab wound. Feeling the other demon’s grip loosed, Hiei wrenched himself free, even more blood following his sword from the wound.
He watched as Yato’s face contorted in anguish. "That’s why you liked the pain... because you never really felt it. Well..." He smirked slightly. "Welcome to the world of hurt." With one swift strike, he slit Yato’s throat, watching as the demon floundered, surrounded by a seemingly impossible amount of blood, before finally collapsing, face-down, finally, undeniably dead.
The adrenaline pumping through Hiei’s body settled slowly as his eyes returned to Kurama’s bare form. "Kurama..." He murmured. He dropped his blood-coated sword to the floor and made a vain effort to clean his hands on his equally stained shirt.
Kneeling beside Kurama, he noted that the collar that had been around his neck had snapped loose, and he threw it and the attatched chain aside. "Kuram&quo" He pressed two fingers to the kitsune’s neck and searched desperately for a pulse. He was vaguely aware of Yusuke’s presence at the door, given away by his harsh breathing that betrayed the fact that the teen had run the entire way.
"Hiei? Is he-"
"Shh!" Hiei hissed, then he felt it. Kurama’s pulse was weak and thready, but it was there. He was alive. Sighing in relief, he beckoned Yusuke over. "He’s alive, but he’s badly injured. He has a head injury, recent by the look of the blood and- other things," he finished vaguely.
While the koorime had been talking, Yusuke had rid himself of his green jacket and draped it over Kurama’ lower body. "Can we lift him?"
"Hold on." Hiei reached down and ripped the sleeve from Yusuke’s jacket. Ignoring the teen’s splutters of indignation, he folded it into a makeshift bandage and gently rolled Kurama onto his side. There was no reaction from the kitsune anyway, a bad sign in itself. He pressed the cloth to the now-visible wound and, tearing a strip of cloth from the hem of Yusuke’s jacket (and earning another protest) bound it securely around his head. "This is all we can do until we get out of here..."
Yusuke shifted uncomfortable. "Hiei... there’s something that you should see..." He reached into his pocket and extracted the Key.
It had a fine webbing of cracks through it.
Hiei swore. "Let’s hurry."
Since it would have been awkward for the koorime to carry Kurama, Yusuke handed him the Key and pulled the fox into his arms, trying not to jar him too much. Once he had a secure hold, they set off for the front door.
To avoid any of Kurai’s followers that were still running amuck, they re-entered Zei’s passage and wound their way back through the castle, keeping up the quickpacepace that they could without risking further injury upon Kurama.
After what felt to them like hours, they had reached the dungeon where they had first entered the cas As As soon as they stepped outside, the orb pulsed violently in Hiei’s hand. The koorime placed the Key on the ground and stepped back. "If it doesn’t work, Detective, I’ll kill you."
There was no need for such a dramatic plan of action, however. It pulsed again, and green light shimmered along the cracks in its surface. The wind picked up, howling-
-and they found themselves sitting in the midst of a bare clearing, stars twinkling overhead.
The Key pulsed once more, weakly, then crumbled into dust.

Waiiiiiii.... one chapter left! It’s going to be kind of a time jump, so bear with me, huh? Also... it’s most likely going to be pure smut. >.> Errrr, yes. Anyway -
