Some warning to start off: Potty mouth . . . and death. That’s about it
A grunt of
pain awoke Yusuke from his light sleep.
The overly warm body in his arms shifted restlessly against him. Worried, Yusuke pulled back the blanket and
sat up to look over his lover.
“Jin?” He called softly. His answer was a deep moan. “Your stomach giving you
problems?”
“Be think’n”
He wheezed, “I bit over done it.”
“Hold tight
I’ll get your pain pills.”
“No!” Jin panted shaking his head forcefully.
“Why the hell not?”
Yusuke asked, his voice rising sharply.
“Thems knock m’out.” Jin growled between clenched teeth and harsh
pants. “I be need’n
ta be awake in de morn’n!”
“And just
what good do you think your going to be when your doubled over in pain and half
dead with lack of sleep?”
“No
pills.” Jin repeated, stubborn as ever.
“Fine!” Yusuke snapped.
He stood and left the room. Jin
was concerned; if Yusuke forced him to stay or ever take those pills he
couldn’t stop him. Not only was Yusuke
his dominate in power Jin was too weak to put up much of a fight at all. He trusted Yusuke with every aspect of his
life and knew that he was only concerned for both Jin and their missing
baby. But right now he resented Yusuke
for being able to do that to him
His thoughts
were cut off when multiple pairs of feet sounded from down the hall. Unsure of what Yusuke was up to; Jin tensed
and watched as the young demon entered followed by Kurama,
Touya and Genkai. The silver fox walked around the mat and
knelt at Jin’s side.
“Can you
roll over?” His soft, deep voice asked,
gently placing a large hand on the wind tamer’s sweaty arm. He removed his hand when Jin gave him a weary
look out of the corner of his eye. “I
just want to make sure that your wound is okay.”
Jin closed
his eyes and took a deep breath to steel him against the pain this was going to
cause. As he did, Kurama
sent Yusuke a look; the young demon took the hint and came around to kneel at
the fox’s side. Genkai
and Touya kept their distance on the other side, knowing
that Jin was expecting a fight they showed him that they didn’t mean to start
one.
They all
watched as Kurama cut away at the bandages wrapped
around Jin’s stomach. The area of the
incision and stitches was inflamed and an angry red color. Yusuke hissed in sympathy when Kurama’s nimble slender fingers gingerly prodded at the
flesh and inspected one of the stitches that had been torn out. Pulling a hand back, Kurama
pushed his long silver hair aside as he leaned forward and sniffed at the
wound.
“There’s no
sign of infection. Although there’s a
lot of heat and it’s obviously inflamed.”
“Do you
have anything to help that?” Yusuke
asked, his concern growing.
“Yes, I
have something that will reduce the swelling and numb the area. When used consistently it greatly speeds up
the healing process. With your lack of ki, however, it will be unable to speed healing up much at
all.”
“Jin,”
Touya spoke up from where he was standing, his backbone held rigid as he still
hadn’t gained his balance back fully just yet.
“You should reconsider your decision.
You’re in no shape to deal with this on your own. You’ll get yourself killed.”
“I be goin’” Jin answered simply,
trying to keep the strain out of his voice.
“Be
reasonable.” Genkai argued. “You’re half dead with exhaustion and
emotional strain. You’re only going to
keep aggravating your wound and delay the healing. That means your body is going to keep using
its ki.”
“I donna care.” Jin answered, his tone lowering a tad “I need
ta git m’child
back an’ this ain’t workin’
none.”
“So we will
come up with a new plan.” Kurama offered as he walked back into the room. Jin hadn’t noticed the fox had even
left. In his long arms the fox had a
small tub of water and a small brown vile.
“No.” The wind tamer answered shortly.
No one pused the matter further as Kurama
gently cleaned the wound. Jin winced and
hissed as the fox cleaned a pot where the stitch had been practically pulled
out. Yusuke frowned; he wanted to tie
his lover down to the bed. He couldn’t
bring himself to tell Jin ‘no’ for this.
His lover needed to do this and allow himself to find his own
limitations before he consented to staying behind again. Not really listening to the conversation as
he should have, Yusuke watched Kurama’s hands like a hawk;
the lines of his frown deepening every time the laid up wind master winced.
Drawing his
hands away from Jin’s wounded stomach; the fox was a tad startled to see the
intense look on Yusuke’s face. Knowing
that Jin was also watching his every move Kurama
nabbed the bottle he brought in and placed it in Yusuke’s hand. Startled, the young demon looked down at the
vile completely at a loss.
“Do I have
to explain the process to you?”
With his
momentary trance broken, Yusuke glared at his smartass friend. “Shove off.”
He growled, opening the cap of the vile.
Kurama smiled at him and explained anyway.
“Pour it
the length of the wound then rub it in and along the sides where it’s
inflamed.”
“Wazz’n it?” Jin asked warily, his eyes locked on the
vile.
“You’re
scenting the lavender I use to mask the odor of the healing plants. Believe me; with out that it would reek.”
“Kay.” Jin answered, still warily. The moment his young lover poured a small
stream of the oily substance on his aching stomach there was an instant cooling
sensation.
Seconds later gentle fingers started smoothing the wonderful cooling
liquid over his stomach. It felt so relaxing
Jin didn’t even realize that his stomach was that his stomach was going numb
and the pain was quickly disappearing.
Someone had also started talking again, but it was too faint for Jin to
make out.
“If you are
going to let him go tomorrow,” Genkai
warned her former student. “Then make
sure he stays asleep for the rest of the night.”
Yusuke
nodded absently not really paying attention to the old physic.
“That means
no more sex, Yusuke!” She added getting
a bemused looks from Touya and Kurama.
“Hear
that?” Yusuke chuckled, his cheeks
growing a tad pink. “You’re gonna haveta try and keep your
hands off me.”
“Kill
joy.” Jin muttered sleepily. He shifted slightly and turned his head to
the side. He sucked in a deep breath,
let it out as a long sigh and was out like a light.
“Wish I
could fall asleep that easily.” Yusuke
muttered affectionately.
“Yusuke,” Kurama
started as the younger demon started washing his hands in the small tub of
water. “Did you happen to notice that everytime Jin said that he was going tomorrow he kept
looking to you?”
“So?”
“You two
have bonded as mates at some time during your stay in the Makai. His instincts are telling him to look to you
for guidance. You can stop him from
making the mistake of going tomorrow as his dominate mate.”
“After all
this bullshit is over I’ll expect you to explain all that to me.” Yusuke answerer, “I understand Jin, he needs to do this
tomorrow. After he figures out he can’t
do it I’ll hog tie him to the bed if he tries again. But, I’m not gonna
stop him from trying.”
“You do
realize that he could get himself killed.”
Touya spoke up form across the room.
“We all
could.” Yusuke replied “He just has a
handicap.”
“A handicap?” Touya sputtered, shocked.
Yusuke had been completely over protective of Jin for the past few
days. Now he didn’t seem to care that he
was trying to kill himself. “You can be serio—“
“Look!” Yusuke interpreted, “It’s a given that Jin is
weak but he is going through hell right now.
None of us can begin to understand what he is feeling. He needs to do this for himself and I’ll be
damned if I let anyone deny him that chance.
I don’t care if I’m the fucking dominate or whatever I’m supposed to
be. This is Jin’s choice to make.”
Kurama and Genkai both accepted
Yusuke’s reasoning, they didn’t like it but they knew fighting wasn’t going to
change Yusuke’s mind. Touya, on the other hand, wasn’t about to give up. Jin is the best friend he had and he didn’t
want to see him die.
“Its Jin’s choice?”
He repeated. Yusuke nodded, his
determined chocolate eyes staring straight into Touya’s
frozen blue gaze. “Is it his choice for
the baby as well?”
“What?”
“When the
baby is found and Jin returns to the Makai does he
get to decide to return to you or come back with me?”
Yusuke
blinked, he never was one to hide his emotions and it was clear that Touya hit a sore spot.
“I’m not
going to force Jin into doing anything.
If he doesn’t want to come back with me that’s
his decision.” He dropped his gaze from Touya to Jin’s sleeping face. Abruptly he stood and went for the door. “You guys should get some sleep.” He said over his shoulder before leaving.
Genkai eyed the slightly taller demon beside her. “Do you really think Jin would take the baby
away?”
“Who
knows?” Touya
answered. “That’s up to him.”
When Touya left Kurama approached the
old physic. “I doubt Jin would allow
Yusuke to take as many liberties if he intended to take their child away.”
“Does Jin
even know that Keiko is out of the picture?”
The old lady mused aloud.
“I don’t
think it matters either way.” Kurama answered,
“Keiko had her chance and lost it.
Jin has already given Yusuke the family he has always wanted.”
“I’ll send Kuwabara to talk that dimwit into getting some rest.” Genkai said, “If he
hasn’t already.”
!@#$%^&*()
Kuwabara approached his best friend slowly, taking in the
cigarettes butts and cloud of smoke surrounding him.
“You quit
remember?” The carrot top informed the
shorter demon as he sat down next to him.
Yusuke didn’t respond which prompted Kuwa to
wait him out; if Yusuke wanted to be left alone he would make that known. After two more cigarettes smoked in silence Kuwabara spoke up again.
“Wanna know what else you should remember?”
Exhaling a
smoky sigh Yusuke turned his gaze to his physic friend.
“Jin in not Keiko.”
“I know
that.” Yusuke replied grinding out his cigarette. “He also kept this from me for the past seven
months he knew of it.”
“Do you
blame him?”
Yusuke
shook his head and cradled his forehead in his hands. “How could I?
I left him for Keiko to start. Plus all this bullshit about Shinobi
rules. I just can’t imagine
loosing them both, Kuwa.”
“You mean
both Keiko and Jin?”
“Ah, screw Kieko. I worked my
ass off for that anal-retentive, perfectionist bitch trying to make that
marriage work and she could never be happy.
All I ever had to do for Jin was be myself.”
Yusuke
lifted his head and looked around for his carton of cigarettes. Pulling out the last one he cursed, “Fucking Shinobi fuck heads making me start fucking smoking again.”
“You’re
going to be more of a wreck than Jin tomorrow if you don’t get some sleep, Urameshi.”
“Every time
I close my eyes all I see is my baby, all grimy and wet. You know it had marks on its cheeks! Like me and Raizen. Touya said, too,
that one night the baby kicked Jin so hard that he had a cracked a rib! My baby’s so strong already. I bet it’s a boy.”
“I don’t
think it could be possible in the entire cosmos for your first child not to be
a boy.”
Yusuke
laughed and stood. With a stretched he
extended the lit cigarette to his friend.
Kuwabara
gave it a disgusted but took it gingerly between two fingers.
“Finish that for me would ya?” He snickered knowing that the carrot top
hated cigarettes.
“Gross, ashtray mouth!”
Yusuke
pondered Kuwa’s insult as he made his way back to his
room. Was it really like kissing an
ashtray? Keiko always jumped on his ass
to quit, her being a goody-two shoes and him starting his nicotine obsession at
the ripe old age of twelve. He only quit
after Genkai died because nothing seemed to lessen
the anguish he was feeling. When he came
back he simply never felt the urge to smoke again.
Maybe he
should shower . . . he definably wasn’t going to smoke anywhere near the baby,
which wouldn’t be a problem if Jin took the baby back to live with Touya. Entering his
room, Yusuke let his eyes fall on the sleeping wind tamer. This wasn’t Keiko’s face that was creased in
sleep with deep stressed out worry lines.
It wasn’t Keiko who, earlier that night, surrendered to his touch to try
and ease the gut wrenching anguish they shared.
And it certainly wasn’t Keiko who felt him crawl under the blankets and
instantly shifted closer until they were pressed together, skin to warm skin.
“You be smokin’ ‘round our baby,” Jin murmured, still half asleep. “An’ I’ll knock yer
block off.”
“Yes
sir.” Yusuke whispered, placing a soft,
chaste kiss on Jin’s thin lips. The
redheaded demon kissed back for a moment then sighed softly again Yusuke’s lips
and went back to sleep.
!@#$%^&*()
When Jin
awoke a few hours later a wave of nausea hit him like a brick. Not wanting to alert Yusuke to his state, he
lay still in his strong arms and took a couple deep, calming breaths. Yusuke stirred and took his warm body away to
sit up and stretch. Yawning deeply, the
young demon cracked his neck then turned his large, tired eyes to Jin.
“Damn,” He
explained both awed and concerned. “Your greener than a grasshopper.”
“Shouda ate somthin’ last
night.” Jin muttered and heaved
once. “Got m’stomach mad at me.”
“Are you gonna be okay?”
“Jus’ need ta eat somethin’ ta settle m’stomach.”
“I’ll get
you some toast and see how you feel from there.”
“Thanks.” Jin mumbled.
Yusuke was already half way out the door. He returned a few minute later with a tray.
“Breakfast in bed.”
Yusuke announced.
“I be doin’ too much n’bed lately.”
“Fine next
week you can serve me in bed.”
“Yer tryin’ too
‘ard.” Jin murmurbed.
Yusuke
shrugged, “It’s how I deal.” Jin shoved
himself into a sitting position before Yusuke had a chance to set the tray down
and offer assistance.
‘I guess this is how you deal’
The
young demon thought to himself.
“Kurama put some herbs in that cup,” Yusuke settled down next to Jin and
placed the tray in between them. He
pointed to the cup that Kurama had added the herbs
to. “He said that it will help ease you
upset stomach. He swore that it wouldn’t
put you to sleep before and after I let him know I’d clobber him if he did. The other one doesn’t have anything except
sugar so you can that one instead if you want.”
“I trust Kurama wouldn’t go against you.” Jin murmured around the dry toast he was
nibbling.
Twenty
minutes later there was a soft knock later bringing in Touya
and Hokushin.
“We wished
to discuss our plan of action with you.”
Hokushin explained as he knelt at the edge of the
futon. Touya
remained mute and standing.
“We were
hoping to have the assistance of the Jaganshi from Mukuro’s realm. He
has not arrived and Kurama-san has said not to wait
for him.”
Yusuke
nodded wondering what had become of Hiei, the short
demon was always reliable when on a mission and it was unlike him to disappear
when he was being relied upon.
!@#$%^&*())(*&^%$#@!
Speaking of Hiei. . .
Using his Jagan, Hiei found multiple female
demons, some with and others without babies at their sides. He was going on a full day of searching when
the physic eye pulsed in his forehead.
It was very faint, so much so that Hiei wasn’t
sure if his Jagan hadn’t picked up a completely
random surge of two fighting demons.
When the inkling persisted, he decided to follow. As he drew closer to the glimmering ki he was surprised to find that it was closer than he had
expected. Its creator was very gifted at
being subtle. Intrigued, the short demon
focused on the energy’s source. He
started so violently he almost fell out of the tree he was perched in. It was her! Not only that but she was
contracting her superior.
:Destroy the bairn.: A voice boomed in Hiei’s
Jagan. :It is too perilous to have it remain alive.:
:I will do as you command, Sensei.: The shadow shaper replied and bowed her head.
The baby
was there? Hiei
couldn’t see sense anyone other than Illiea.
:Bring back the body.:
The voice commanded, then the ball of energy evaporated , the link gone.
Keeping his
eye on the demoness, Hiei
sped to her campsite. It would take
longer than he would have like to get there.
Luckily, Illiea seemed in no hurry to fulfill
her duties and off her young ward. She
sat next to her fire staring off into its embers. When he was close enough he slowed completely
to a slow stalk. With his ki masked and her attention else where, Hiei
was able to approach the camp clearing unnoticed.
Slowly Illiea’s dark head turned to stare directly at Hiei.
“You think
you’re pretty smart, don’t you?” She
chuckled low and soft. “I control
shadows; they tell me where you’re hiding.”
Hiei walked slowly through the shadows watching as Illiea’s gray eyes followed his movements. Her right hand moved out to a dark shape,
with a flick of her slender wrist it tipped and spilt water over the fire
destroying all light but the moon and giving Illiea
the advantage.
Hiei found where she had placed the baby. Moonlight illuminated the dingy white sheets
it was wrapped in. The pitiful creature
was barely alive. It was completely
wrapped in the dirty sheet and the Jagan could hardly
sense it. She had placed it in a knot of
a large fallen tree, on which the Jaganshi now stood.
“I’ve come
for the child.” Hiei
said, one hand resting on the hilt of this sword.
Her
eyebrows rose a bit and a calculating look came into eyes. She held out her hands and called to her
weapons. Hiei
couldn’t see them at all or if there was actually anything there. When her fists closed over nothingness Hiei’s Jagan flared and pulsed,
the sword in her hands shimmered in his mind.
“Neither of
you will leave this clearing alive.” She
informed Hiei and charged. Leaping from the tree the Jaganshi
met her half way his slender sword clashing with her shadow matter blades. As a close contact sword wielder there was
none better than Hiei and Illieah
found this out when the short demon spun quicker than she could follow and
removed her arm from the elbow down. The
dying limb flopped to the ground and twitched as Illiea
screamed and stumbled backwards. She
scowled at the shorter demon, the sword in her remaining hand dissipated.
“Bastard!” She hissed
tightening her fisted hand and pulling it back, trying to give the illusion
that she still had a weapon. She wanted Hiei’s attention on her empty hand for a reason, she was up
to something and Hiei was on to her. He side stepped jut in time to dodge a
projectile shadow blade. Illiea smirked.
“Your surrounded.” She
crooned.
Hiei’s large ruby eyes trailed lazily through the air. “I can see that.” Never one to monologue, Hiei’s
tone was unimpressed. Surrounding both
demons dozens of shadow matter blades hung suspended in the air. All of them aimed toward Hiei.
Illiea’s frown deepened.
She flexed the fingers of her remaining hand which was the reflex that
her blades were waiting for. The dozens
of blades were shimmering in the moonlight whizzed through the air. Calling upon his energy Hiei
created his ‘Human Flames’ he ignited his own ki, the
blades dissolved in mid-strike. Illiea stumbled back her eyes widening in shock.
“Your
shadow toys will not work on me.” Hiei told her, strengthening his ki,
the flames around his small frame blazed brighter than the sun at noon. “I
hope you enjoy pain.”
Hiei could tell he didn’t have time to play around while
killing this bitch. It didn’t seem that
she was very gifted after loosing her shadow skills; she was probably just a
fledgling Shinobi.
The heat of his own ki was heating his slender
sword to a red hot glow. Determined to make this death as quick and painful as possible Hiei couldn’t help but smile at the fear in Illiea’s eyes as he advanced.
!@#$%^&*()
Hiei paused to admire his handy work. Illiea no longer
had any limbs other than her head attached to her body. Her stomach was sliced wide open, letting
bloody bowels spill out into a pile steaming in the crisp night air. Leaving the demoness
to slowly die in the grass, Hiei approached the
bundle left in the knot of the tree. It
was early fall and the weather was cool during the day and down right cold at
night. Hiei
was surprised and disgusted to find the baby was in nothing more than the white
sheet. Unwrapping
the bundle Hiei’s surprised disgust ripened to a
complete repulse. The baby’s skin was a
sickly gray color, wither from sickness or the birth fluids that were never
washed off and now crusted all over its body Hiei
couldn’t tell. It was also soiled with
their first bowel movement that was again never cleaned.
The Jaganshi felt a snarl build in his throat. She hadn’t so much as looked at the child in
the two days she had it in her care. It
was amazing that the it’s tiny chest was still moving.
If Yusuke’s
baby had any chance to survive he had to act fast. Removing his black cape, he knotted two
corners of it together then took off his shirt.
Gingerly, having never held a baby before in his entire life, Hiei lifted the baby from the soiled linen and wrapped the
tiny body in his shirt. He slung his
cape over his shoulder and placed the baby in the sling it created then tucked
the excess material around the baby as best he could.
“You,” He told the baby as
he raised his ki to surround them both, “are the son
of Urameshi Yusuke, one of the strongest demons in
the tree worlds. You can beat this.”
He took one
last look at Illiea, calling his flames to him once more he set the dying
shadow shaping demoness on fire. As much as he would have liked, he couldn’t
stick around to listen to her dying moans.
With one strong arm wrapped around the baby in his cape, Hiei flitted away as fast as his legs could possible carry
him.
As he ran, Hiei realized that the baby in his arms was getting weaker
by the second. Opening his Jagan quickly he directed the eye to find his home in the
moving dwelling of Mukuro, Aralic. What he found made him pause; Aralic was very close while the portal located near the old
Genkai’s temple was more than twice its distance
away. He didn’t want to have to beg
favors of his bionic mistress or even worse Shigure, however, Yusuke’s
son would never survive for much longer if he didn’t get some help. One last look at the child struggling for
each breath, his sunken eyes half parted with the fixed stare of a dead
thing. Already Hiei
admired the valiant, fighting life in his arms.
Tucking his cape sling more securely around his baby his mind was made
up, Shigure could save this baby and trying to get
him to his parents in the Ningenkai first would be
his doom, Aralic it was.
Hiei arrived in Aralic in less
than half an hour. He bellowed at the
first servant he saw to send for Shigure, and then
darted away. Shigure
arrived in his medical wing promptly and gave a surprised raise of an
eyebrow. The shorter demon took his
precious bundle from his cape sling and placed him gently on the table.
“Save
him.” He ordered shortly.
“You know
my policy,” Shigure said approaching the table his expression
bored.
“I don’t
give a fuck; I’ll deal with that later.
He can’t wait.”
Mukuro appeared in the doorway, curious as to her heir’s
odd behavior. Seeing the tiny bundle she
approached.
“Don’t tell
me you stole your sister’s baby.” She
asked.
Hiei growled, thankfully Shigure
started unwrapping Yusuke’s baby and startled when the baby’s condition became
clear.
“I believe
this is going to be much more interesting than that.” Shigure gently
turned the babe’s head, showing the curious Mukuro
the Toushin marking under his eyes and on his chest.
“This
explains all the activity at the borders.”
“You have
no idea.” Hiei
muttered. A soft knock sounded at the
door and Hiei’s personal ‘go for’ boy stepped into
the room.
“You
summoned me, sir?” He asked softly
bowing to his master.
“Go to the
nearest town and find a wet nurse. Tell
her to be as discreet as possible and she will be handsomely rewarded for her
time.” The boy bowed once more and
darted from the room. When Hiei returned his attention to Yusuke’s baby he saw Shigure pressing gently on the baby’s head. “What are you doing?”
“The best
vein for a newborn runs through the skin over the skull, especially this child
show appears to have been starved. He
needs warm fluids so make yourself useful and heat up that bag of saline to
just above body temperature.”
Hiei did as he was told and placed the warm bag next to the
baby. Shigure
lifted the baby with both hands and judged his slight weight then made a mark
on the bag with a black marker. He took
out a needle and IV tub, swiftly and with complete precision the dark surgeon
inserted the thin needle into the skin covering the impossible tiny yet large
for his body, skull. Hiei
would only imagine that that was not a plesent
experience, yet the baby didn’t even let out a peep.
“There’s
really nothing more I can do until the midwife gets here.” Shigure informed
the audience as he hung the bag on a small hook above the table. “Until then, Hiei,
please feel free to entertain us with what has to be an extremely interesting
story.”
“Yes,” Mukuro
spoke from where she lounged across the room.
“How did you come to possess a Toushin’s
child?”
“The debt
for this child is to fall on me, not him or his sire!” Hiei stated. “Is that clear?”
Shigure didn’t care; he was a glutton for a good story
anyways. He looked to his mistress for
an answer. Mukuro
was silent for a moment judging her heir.
She nodded her consent once. She
was no fool; there was a flurry of activity at the borders and rumors of Raizen’s heir leading it all.
“This is to
son of Urameshi Yusuke. His dam was abducted and this child cut from
the womb.”
“Who in
their right mind would go to the Ningenkai to steal
the Toushin’s mate?”
“This
child’s dam does not reside in the Ningenkai.”
“Really?” Mukuro mused, her tone thoughtful. “Who made the fatal mistake of stealing this
baby and leaving him in such a state?”
“The
creature I killed was called Illiea.”
“Who is
feeling the Toushin’s wrath?” Mukuro continued, it was clear that Hiei was
skimming around the topic to leave her guessing.
“The Shinobi.”
Mukuro was out of her chair in a blink and at the side of
the table.
“What rules
won’t that boy break?” She muttered to
herself, wither she was thinking of Jin or Yusuke, Hiei
couldn’t tell. “The
wind tamer?” She asked looking
up at Hiei, who nodded. “Did they kill him?”
“To the
best of my knowledge he is still alive.”
She was
about to ask something else when the door opened bringing in Hiei’s servant and the wet nurse. She was large for a woman, almost reaching Shigure’s height with wide hips and even larger bosom and a
very stern expression. She took one look
at the baby and turned to Shigure and said in a deep
rolling voice,
“I vill be needing a tube dis thick,” she held up her
fingers, “and dis long,” this time her hands were held out. “And a meedium
syringe. Please.” She added as a after
thought.
She seemed
like she knew her worth and was used to being the boss. The ‘please’ was added only because she was
in the presence of a Makai lord. Next she rounded on the servant, who stood
off to the side waiting for directions and praying to be dismissed. He visibly paled when the intimidating demoness spotted him.
“Git me un’ tub of varm vater un’ towels.”
He nodded
and darted from the room. Mukuro had a bemused smile on her lips, she liked this
woman.
From the
satchel against her ample hip, the midwife started taking out jars. One was white and clearly filled with
milk. Another had a greenish tint to it;
she also pulled out a sponge. Clearly
she was good at her job and was prepared for anything. Taking a bottle of milk she turned to Hiei.
“Is milk,
is mine. You need sniff?” Hiei shook his
head. “Vere I
can heat up?”
“How hot do
you need it?”
“Skeen temperature.”
Hiei took the jar and a second later handed it back. Large brown eyes turned from confused to
surprise when she felt the jar.
“Impressive.” She said, picking up the syringe Shigure had laid on the
table. Her hands, just as large as Shigure’s yet even fuller, were just as deft and sure as
his when dealing with equipment and her patient. She inserted the tube then sniffed at its tip
before attaching the syringe. By the
time she finished, Nuriko, the servant, was back with
the water she ordered. The midwife
instantly picked up her sponge and the greenish jar and started cleaning the
baby.
“Dis babe, ee’s
‘ead no point.
Ee’s been cut out, yes?”
Hiei wasn’t sure if she was asking or telling but he
answered yes anyway.
“Vere is mudder? Is dead?”
“No, the
dam is alive.” Hiei
answered.
“Babe is
weak, ‘ee need mudder’s
milk, first milk. ‘Ee
grow strong. ‘Ee
live.”
“When can I
take him to his mother?”
“Mudder cannot come ‘ere?”
“No,” Hiei shook his head.
“Can’t be moved.”
The demoness pursed her full lips, her sharp eyes raking over
the baby’s miserable state.
“Ven fluid is ‘ere,” She pointed at the mark Shigure had made on the bag of fluids hanging from the hook,
“I give more milk. ‘Ee
life till then, you take to mudder.”
!@#$%^&*()
It was
about an hour later when the midwife unwrapped the towel bundled baby. She appeared happy with what she saw. Hiei, who had been
dozing in the corner with the baby cradled in his arms while the life saving
fluids ran through the IV into his tiny head.
He had not wanted to hold the baby at all, but when the midwife had
finished cleaning him and put a diaper on its ointment smeared bottom she
wrapped the babe snugly in a towel and held him out to Hiei.
The Jaganshi blinked at her mutely then shook his head.
“He’s not
mine. He’s fine on the table.
“’Ee’s still cold. You
make ‘eet, you keep warm.” With that the baby boy was more or less
shoved into his slender arms. “Is important that you not put down.”
Hiei nodded mutely again at the demoness. Just as quietly he summoned his servant who
appeared in the doorway.
“If you’ll
follow Nuirko,” he told her nodding to the young boy
at the door. “He will compensate you for
your time and discreetness.”
“I take my
fee, no more nudding less. I see nudding, I
know nudding.”
She followed Nuirko out the door.
“Oh I like
her.” Mukuro
chuckled watching Hiei awkwardly hold his little
charge.
“Remember
that when you have one of these popping out of your crotch.”
Mukuro laughed once.
“Hiei, Hiei you know
I made you my heir because I don’t have to equipment to create my own.”
“As
invigorating as this all is,”
Shigure spoke up from where he had been
watching across the room, “I have duties to attend to. You must turn the drip off when it gets to
the mark or else his body will drown.”
Once she
was sure Shigure was gone Mukuro
approached her heir, lowering her tone she said. “It’s good for you to get all this experience
with your friend’s baby.” Hiei eyed her wearily, “You’ll be a big help to your
sister.”
“Can’t that
fox keep his mouth shut?” He
grumbled.
The bionic demoness
shrugged her shoulders. “Your servant
won’t say a word so I had to find out somehow.”
Rolling his
ruby, red eyes Hiei gave Mukuro
his back and settled himself and the baby in the corner. The Jaganshi dozed
on and off for almost an hour, each time he time he awoke, he glanced at the
bag above his head to make sure the waterline was above the mark.
The midwife
arrived when the waterline was close but not yet at the mark. She plucked the baby from Hiei’s arms and
started unwrapping him. She gave a content snort when looking him
over.
“Goot, goot,” she said, “Color coming, breathing goot.
Varm.”
Hiei stood at her side watching and judging the condition. His skin wasn’t quite as gray as it was. His slanted eyes opened once before falling
closed once again. When the midwife
reinserted the slender tube she gained a small whine and he squirmed a tad.
“Goot!” She praised.
“You fight, you live!”
She turned
to Hiei and handed the baby back. As he tucked the tiny fighter in his cape
sling the midwife gave him instructions for Jin and Yusuke when the baby
arrived.
“You go
fast, git dere quvick. Make sure
babe nurse from mudder soon, very soon. Git first milk, git strong. Not to go outside for two veeks. Let sit in varm sunlight at vindow to ‘elp color come.
Keep fed much; keep varm, ‘ee
live jus’ fine.”
Hiei nodded once.
“Thank you.” He said staring up
to her stern face.
“Mudder has goot friend wif you.” She
replied. “Babe in goot ‘ands.”
“Hn.” He grunted feeling his cheeks grow hot at her
praise.
With her
hand on her ample hips, she boomed a laugh.
“Go,
go!” She shooed, still chuckling. “Quvick like bunny
you take baby to mudder.”
Glad to
finally leave, Hiei went to the window and flitted
away as fast as he could.
!@#$%^&*()
Entering
the temple, Hiei was surprised to find it nearly
empty of fighters. His Jagan picked up auras coming from the back room that turned
out to be monks who had been injured.
The blue haired ferry maiden was with them at the moment as well. Yusuke’s second in command, Hokushin, appeared instantly upon sensing Hiei’s unfamiliar ki. He took on look at the bundle cradled in the Jaganshi’s cape and stepped aside.
“In the last room on the left.” He nodded down the hall.
Hiei was a tad reluctant to go. He didn’t want to deal with any gushing
emotions from Yusuke or anyone else. He
was hoping to hand the baby off to Kurama or Genkai, hell right now he’d even settle for Kuwabara. Shrugging
to himself he approached the room. He
could hear Jin’s muffled voice although he couldn’t understand what the wind
tamer was saying, it was clear that he was unhappy with someone. Although it was rarely seen, Jin’s temper was
a fierce thing and Hiei didn’t mind not receiving the
brunt of it. There was a sudden pause,
everything went silent and the door slid open bringing out Kurama.
Last Hiei knew it was his red headed lover masquerading around
the Ningenkai; he was pleasantly surprised to find
the seven foot silver fox blinking surprised golden eyes at him. Seeing the bundle Hiei
cradled his fluffy tail swished from side to side and his silver ears twitched.
“You’re
late.” He said his tone neutral. Usually Kurama
could always read his lover, but he was confused at what he saw. His initial delight was quickly fading.
“I was
unavoidably detained.” Hiei answered stepping past his lover and into the
room. Once inside he took in the site of
Yusuke and Jin who were seated on the futon.
Jin was struggling into a shirt while Yusuke watched on, his lips were
pressed tightly together and turning white.
Touya and Genkai
were also in the room, Genkai was watching with
dispassionate eyes which hid her true emotions.
Touya, who was very much like Kurama and very good at portraying a constant calm, had a
stormy expression on his face. They all froze when Hiei
stepped inside. Jin’s sky blue eyes were
locked on the bundled baby, disbelief shining clear. He dropped the shirt into his lap and tugged
his trembling hands out of the binding fabric.
“I have to
warn you.” Hiei
cautioned them, “You aren’t going to like what you see. Illiea pretty much
ignored your child the entire time.”
Jin’s face
went expressionless. He held out his
trembling hands and accepted his baby into his arms for the first time. Gently he cradled his baby to his chest and unwrapped the towel.
Beside him, Yusuke gasped, horrified.
Jin couldn’t make a noise, his mind was reeling. His baby’s closed eyes were sunken into its
skull; its skin was sickly pale. One
reassuring sign was its breathing, although a tad quick, seemed rhythmic and
even.
Yusuke was
beside Jin trembling forcefully. “Tell
me she’s dead.” He growled, his ki spiked despite his
obvious restrain. “Hiei,
tell me you slaughtered that bitch.”
Hiei nodded, “Relieved of her limbs, disemboweled and left
to rot.”
“Good ‘ol Hiei.” Yusuke muttered returning his gaze to his
child.
“He already
looks better.” Hiei
reveled getting astonished glances.
“You call
this better?” Yusuke asked.
Hiei nodded curtly, he had been expecting more of a
reaction than this, and he rather enjoyed the non-hysterics. “Shigure gave him
fluids and we had a midwife get milk into his
stomach.”
A boy Yusuke marveled, feeling a deep
pang of grief for his son. “Shigure?” He asked.
Hiei nodded again.
“I was either that or bring him to you dead.” It was blunt, but that was Hiei’s way. It was
just what the young wind tamer needed to shake him from his shock.
“What did
they do? What are ‘is
chances?”
“The
midwife was very optimistic. She said to
keep him inside for the next two weeks, make sure he is kept warm and fed. She predicted that after two weeks you won’t
recognize him.”
Jin looked
up at the Jaganshi.
His large, sky blue eyes were solemn and deep with emotions. “Thank you.”
“I didn’t
do it for you.” Hiei
answered with a shrug.
Jin
snorted, half smiling. “I would’na expected ya to. But, thank you an’a’ways.”
“Hn.” Hiei snorted and
gave a small nod and left. Kurama and Genkai silently
followed. Touya
was also on his way out when he heard Jin say something so soft it was almost a
whisper.”
“ ‘E’s gonna be okay.” Touya paused and
looked at his friend, a small, half smile found its
way to his lips. Jin only had eyes for
his son and Yusuke. He hadn’t noticed
that Touya was even there. Silently, as not to disturb the newly
reunited family, the ice demon slipped out the door.
“How do you
know?” Yusuke asked. Jin grasped his lover’s hadn
and placed it on the bundled baby. He
felt their baby’s weak, erratic ki start to sooth as
a sense of ‘rightness’ and contentment settled over him. After all the time of pain and confusion
around him, for the first time their son was completely relaxed. Cradled in the tender arms with a familiar ki and heartbeat to sooth the tiny baby as it had been the
whole time he had slept within Jin’s womb.
Jin rubbed
his son’s cheek softly, smiling as the baby tried to follow the touch. His tiny mouth started to work as if he had
found the nipple already. Grabbing a
pillow to put in his lap, Jin scooted back to lean against Yusuke’s chest. The young wind tamer guided his baby to his
swollen nipple, although his tiny mouth opened impossibly wide he couldn’t seem
to latch on. It took a few minutes of
struggling on the baby’s part before it clicked in his head and he latched on
perfectly.
“Yer strong lil
man.” Jin whispered when he felt
the strong suction at his chest. Behind
him, Yusuke wrapped his strong arms gingerly around the body against his chest,
one arm laid over top of Jin’s where it held their son, the other looped gently
around his waist and placed in his lap.
He watched as his baby nursed himself to sleep. It didn’t take very long as their son was
still very weak and only had a tiny stomach to fill.
“ ‘E’s gonna be okay.” Jin repeated taking a deep breath that came
out as a yawn.
“Yea.” Yusuke agreed.
Jin turned and curled his leg up practically into a ball in Yusuke’s
lap. In return, his lover tightened his
embrace. “He’s a fighter.”
“ “E’s still cold.”
Jin murmured, half asleep. Yusuke
pulled a blanket around them and raised his ki a bit
to surround them as he had seen Hiei doing when he
first brought them their baby. He wasn’t
sure if it would do much good as Hiei was a fire
demon and had naturally warm ki. He must have been doing something right
because Jin sighed and tucked his forehead against the corded muscles of
Yusuke’s neck and drifted off to sleep.
Yusuke
shifted slightly, trying not to waken his family, he pulled a pillow behind his
back and head to relax more comfortably.
He was content and exhausted but not willing to sleep just yet. Time seemed to stand still for the young
demon as he held Jin; feeling his deep breathing with each gentle puff of air
against his chest. Half obscured by the
blanket they were all wrapped in, his son’s raspy breathing could be heard. It was, even now, continuing to even itself
out. Jin, true to his easy going, fun
loving nature was looking at the glass as half full and appeared to be
completely certain that their son was going to be fine. Hiei, the world’s
biggest pessimist had said himself that he and the midwife were optimistic for
this little fighter.
Sucking in
a deep breath the young demon was half surprised that it was a very shaky one,
as if he had been crying. In truth, he
was scared, deathly afraid that this was all a dream and that his son would
disappear if he closed his eyes even for a moment. Desperately he wished to hold his son. To feel his tiny, warm body cradled against
his own chest. Have those slanted eyes
look at him with security and wonder that only a baby would experience. Suddenly, he didn’t reel worthy of having
this precious little life as his own.
In his
arms, Jin awoke with a start. He gave a
shaky, relieved sigh when he saw his baby and felt the warm, soothing pulse of
Yusuke’s ki.
“Been think’n it’s all a dream.
Dinna wanna wake up ta nutin’”
“Yea.” Yusuke
murmured softly. “I’m afraid that if I
close my eyes you’ll both disappear.”
“Ya ‘aven’t slept none?” Jin asked, yawning deeply. “ ‘Ow
long ‘ave we been sleep’n?”
“Dunno.” Yusuke
shrugged. “Haven’t
looked lately.”
“Need ta loo.” Jin informed his lover. “But I be unwantin’
ta move.”
“I hear ya.” Yusuke
chuckled, his slightly calloused hand gently stroking the peach fuzz covering
his son’s head. The hair was light
brownish red that Yusuke guessed was going to darken to the same shade as Jin’s
crayon red locks. “Say, did you give him
a name yet?”
“Thought a’one awhile back. Jus’ donna know if’n I like it.”
“Let’s hear
it.”
“Oops.”
Yusuke
couldn’t help but laugh. “That original.”
“It’s what
I said when I found out ‘bout Baby. If’n he was unwanted or a mistake then I’da
said a cuss. E’s not a mistake, ‘e’s a surprise, an ‘oops’.
My lil Oops.”
“I like
it.” Yusuke replied. “It fits.”
“I been think’n so.” Jin looked down at his newly named son. He smiled, delighted to finally have his son
back. Knowing that Oops would need fed
soon; he started rubbing his fingers gently against his son’s sunken
cheeks. Not wanting to wake up just yet,
Oops scrunched his eyes and squirmed weakly against Jin’s warm chest. His father persisted gently and soon the baby
was rooting toward Jin’s fingers. The
latch was no easier than the last time.
But this time Oops stayed awake longer and nursed almost forcefully.
“See.” Jin told his son, “Ya
were ‘ungry weren’t ya?”
Yusuke
smiled as he watched their son nurse. He
felt tired and very happy to have his son back and on his way to a full
recovery. For some reason he couldn’t
shake Touya words from the night before.
“Wazza matter?” Yusuke looked up from his son to find Jin’s
sky blue eyes on him. “Yer starin’”
Yusuke
shrugged, “Just thinking.”
“What ya thinkin’ bout so hard?”
Not wanting
to bring up anything upsetting at the moment the young demon thought fast.
“Baby
clothes, for one.” He lied. “And we need diapers up here quick.”
Jin looked
down at Oops, he did need changed but that didn’t change the fact that Yusuke
was lying.
“Ya donna
lie ta me ofter.” Jin said looking back at his lover. “An’ ya donna do it well either.”
“It was
just a thought.” Yusuke replied, “It’s
not worth bringing up right now. I’m
just happy that Oops is back with you.”
“With me?” Jin asked,
confused. “Yer talkin’ stupid. ‘E’s
here with us.”
The young
demon gave Jin an odd smile and stood up.
“Yea, I
need to go see about sending Kuwa or Kurama out for diapers.”
Jin watched
on, confused as Yusuke left the room.
His sharp ears picked up a rush of voices asking about the baby. He was pondering Yusuke’s sudden, odd
behavior when a soft knock sounded at the door.
Before he could answer Touya stuck his head
in.
“Hey Frosty.” Jin
greeted with a smile.
“Hello
Jin.” He approached and knelt next to
the side of the mat. “How is your baby?”
“Ugly lookin’”
Jin answered looking down at the baby in his arms, who had fallen
back asleep. “Buy gettin’
better. E’ll
be ‘andsome like me in no time.”
“And
you? How are you feeling?” Touya asked looking
over Jin who was still shirtless and had no bandages on his wound.
“Achy.” He answered.
“But better.”
“Have you
decided on a name for your son?”
“Oops.” Jin answered with a nod and proud smile.
“Pardon?”
“Oops-chan.” Jin repeated amused at his friend’s reaction.
“It’s
original.” Touya
said after a pause.”
“ ‘At’s what Yusuke said too, only
‘e liked it.”
“I’m sure
it’ll grow on me.” Touya
smiled.
Jin shrugged,
he didn’t care one way or another if anyone liked the name he chose for his
son. It wasn’t going to change because
of their whims.
“Jin? Is something wrong, with your son?”
“Him’s getting’ ‘ere.” Jin answered.
“But now Yusuke’s actin’ a dummy.”
“How so?”
“Jus all a’sudden e’s seems
different. Closed an’ off somewhere
gloomy.” Jin paused and looked toward
the door where Yusuke had left. “Be think’n ‘at it as somethin ta do wit his human woman.”
“Keiko?” Touya asked
confused. “She’s not . . . He’s released
her from his claims as her mate. Before
he even knew of Oops-chan he ended it.”
“News ta us, ‘at is.” Jin mused;
Touya smiled noticing that he already included his
baby. ‘E did say ‘e regretted wasting
his time with her. But jus’ now ‘e said
‘my baby’ instead of ‘our baby’ like ‘e ‘as been.”
“I think I
may have caused that. ‘ Touya revealed.
Jin blinked
in surprise. “How?”
“Last night
Yusuke and I argued about letting you go after you had gone back to sleep. I, of course, fought against letting you go
out and getting yourself killed. He said
that it was your choice to make and he wouldn’t use his dominance in your
mating to force you to stay. I wanted
him to stop you so I asked if you had the choice of taking your baby back to
live with me like you were while you were pregnant.
“He said he
wouldn’t force you into anything you didn’t want, even if you wanted to take
Oops away.”
Jin was
silent for a moment, pondering what he just learned. With an affectionate shake of his head,
sending his crayon red locks swaying gently, he smiled down at his son.
“We sure
are lucky ta ‘ave a daddy
like him, arn’ we?”
Oops didn’t answer, he remained asleep, nestled snugly in Jin’s warm
arms. “Would ya mind sittin’ wit ‘im few a few minute?
I be need’n ta knock
some sense into ‘is daddy’s thick head.”
Touya nodded with a smile, “Of course. I’m sorry to have caused the two of you
problems.”
Jin
carefully handed his precious son over to Touya and
waved off his apology.
“ ‘Ere ain’t a better buddy a boy
could ‘ave.”
He said flashing the ice master the first true smile he had since first
being abducted.
!@#$%^&*()
When Yusuke
stepped into the main room of the temple a hush spread over the demons and few
humans that were there. A split second
later every one of them were talking at once.
Chu, who was closest
and debatably the loudest, clasped a large, firm hand over Yusuke’s shoulder.
“C’mon
mate! Don’t leave us in suspense! Tell
us about your wee one!”
“Well, not
sure how much you guys know already, but, it’s a boy. He looks like hell because that bitch starved
him. He’s starting to perk up though, is
nursing just fine just fine. The midwife
said he should be just fine in about two weeks.”
“What did
you guys name him?” Rinku
asked.
“Jin
decided to name him Oops.”
“Really?”
“You
bet.” He nodded, “I’m sure that Jin will
bring him out tomorrow if he doesn’t decide to try and sleep through dinner.”
“That’ll be
in about fifteen minutes.” Botan called from the kitchen doorway.
“Wow,
didn’t realize it was that late.” Yusuke
rubbed the back of his head and searched the crowed for Kuwabara. He found his physic friend on the pourch talking to his wife on the phone. Arguing was actually the correct term.
“No, Yukina-chan, you should stay there. The injured monks were taken back by Puu to their own healer.
Yes dear. . . No, all superficial. . . Jin? He’s healing just fine. Yes, Kurama gave
him something to take the pain away.
Honey, you’re pregnant, you shouldn’t push yourself. . . Yes, I’ll come
home tomorrow if nothing happens. I love
you, too.”
Kuwabara hung up with his wife with a sigh. When Yusuke sat down next to him, the carrot
top let him in on the secret he was keeping his Koormie.
“Yukina wanted to come help heal everyone. I was able to talk her out of it, but I felt
bad that she would miss out on seeing Hiei. So, Kurama talked Hiei into surprising her at the house. That way she could keep from getting too
stressed, its not good for the babies.”
“Yea, good planning on your part.” Yusuke agreed. “Can I ask a favor, pal?”
“Shoot.”
“Would you
mind taking my card and getting some supplies for Oops?”
“Oops?” Kuwabara asked.
“Oh, you
weren’t inside?” The carrot top shook
his head. “Jin named the baby Oops.”
“That’s cool.” He laughed.
“Fits the situation perfectly, for him being a
surprise and all.”
“Yea, Jin
sure can pick’um.”
“About those baby supplies, their already in the closet.”
“Huh?”
“I brought
diapers and clothes and what not here when I first came up. When Kurama said
that Jin and eventually the baby would be here, I figured you’d need them
sooner or later. I didn’t know if you
had a boy or a girl so I grabbed clothes for both. I’ll take the girl stuff back cause chances are I’ll have at least one.”
“Man,
you’re the greatest.” Yusuke clasped his
hand on his friend’s broad shoulder.
“Course I
am!” Kuwabara
puffed out his chest. “Took you long
enough to figure it out. Now go change
your stinky baby. Then give him a good
cuddle.”
“Did you
have to swell his already abnormally large head even more?” The snide voice of Hiei
sounded from above their heads. A second
later his dark form dropped in front of them from the porch roof. Ignoring the sputtering redhead he addressed
Yusuke. “How is your son?”
“Small.” Yusuke answered, “So small. But he’s breathing and nursing. I’m praying.”
Around Jin and the baby, he kept his insecurities hidden. With the large group of demons, he remained
hopeful. With Kuwabara
and Hiei he was momentarily safe to let his worries
show.
“Hey,” Hiei
took a step up and kicked the young demon in the thigh. It was more of a jolt than actual pain, just
enough to get his attention and a nice bruise.
Yusuke looked up into Hiei’s large ruby
eyes. Hiei
gazed back for a moment, settled his thoughts on Yusuke’s annoying behavior and
spoke again. “Whatever doubts you have got
to get them out now. You can’t do this
in there. If you give up hope so will
Jin. I’ve seen your son come back from
near death, the same as I’ve watched you do time and again. He’s strong like you and is taking after you
more than you know. You need to be
strong for him so he can finish getting through this.”
Yusuke was
stunned by the speech from Hiei. Usually he would choose to express his
gratitude by slinging an arm over Hiei’s shoulder and
making the slight demon uncomfortable for his effort. Today, he lifted tired, grateful eyes and
gave him the smallest of smiles. “Thanks
guys.” He said, rubbing at his eyes, “I’m
gonna say hi to Puu for a
few minutes.”
Both of his
friends nodded and watched on as the young demon approached his blue spirit
bird, which was sleeping with his small head tucked under his wing. He was just as tired as Yusuke, only he
didn’t force himself to stay awake. He
was happy to be woken up by his other half for a good scratch behind his long
ears.
“Wadda ya think of our boy,
huh?” He asked, getting a happy keen
from Puu. With
his spirit beast taking up his attention that wasn’t the young demon didn’t
realize that he was being watched.
“Yer a dumb ass.” Started, Yusuke turned to find Jin standing a
few feet away. Puu
keened again as the redhead approached.
Once he was in reach, Puu stretched out his
long and pushed his head into Jin’s chest.
“Take it
easy.” Yusuke scolded.
“Aww hell,” Jin drawled.
“I use’ta could git
the same reaction from you too, once upon a time.”
“Once upon a time?”
Yusuke asked, “You got one hell of a reaction last night, bub.”
Jin laughed, “I surly did, din’ I.”
“Who’s
watching Oops?”
“Touya.”
“Oh,
okay.” Yusuke replied, looking toward
the temple.
“Ol’ Frosty told me what he said last night.” Ya damn worry wort.”
Yusuke
paused and turned back to the wind taming demon who
was still being cuddled by his spirit beast.
“Yer a damn nut if’n yer think’n we’re going an’a’wheres without ya. An’ jus’ so ya
know, I donna intend ta share ya.”
“Oh really?” Yusuke
asked with a smirk.
“Yea,” Jin
answered, stepping around Puu and up to Yusuke. “Got a problem wit ‘at?”
“Naw, not at all.” Yusuke smiled as Jin grasped the front of his
shirt. Jin turned his sky blue gaze to
the large spirit beast who was watching them curiously.
“Piss off
them peepers, Puu-chan.”
The large
head swung toward the temple. With a
complying coo in the back of his throat he stepped forward in front of the
couple to flare his wings to their impressively mammoth span and started
preening his feathers completely obscuring the view of the people in the
temple.
Yusuke
chucked as he realized what Jin did. He
was still chuckling as Jin fisted his soft black hair at the back of his neck
to tip his head up for a kiss. Puberty
had been nice to Yusuke height wise, he was now only two inched shorter than
his mate, unlike at the Dark Tournament when the wind tamer had first taken his
virginity. At that time he had not only
been human but half a head shorter as well.
Because of his healing wounds, Jin couldn’t press himself against his
mate like he wanted to. Instead he
settled to slip his free hand under the back of his shirt to rub the warm,
smooth skin underneath. Yusuke moaned at
the touch, his own hands grasping Jin’s slender hips.
“Mm, no sex remember.” Yusuke
mumbled against Jin’s swelling lips when they parted for air. Jin didn’t answer he pressed forward kissing
deeper, more forcefully before abruptly pulling away.
“Sum’un’s unhappy.”
Jin said, turning toward the temple.
“Yea,”
Yusuke agreed, hearing the muffled cries of their son from deep inside the
temple. “Doesn’t it sound awesome?”
“Sure
does.” Jin answered his ears, for the
first time since he had been abducted, were pointed again and twitching happily
at the sound of their son’s cries.
!@#$%^&*()
Once back
inside their room with the bag of supplies Kuwabara
brought them, Touya gladly handed over the squalling
baby to his parents. Oops quieted some
when he was back in Jin’s warm arms. His
little face turned back to an angry red when the wind master placed him on the
floor to change his diaper. By the time
his parents bumbled through their first diaper change and dressed their son in
a light blue once piece Oops was not happy and neither was Yusuke. The young demon was completely unnerved by
the angry squalling baby.
“What’s
wrong?” Yusuke asked panicked when Jin
picked up the baby and he wouldn’t stop wailing. “Is he hurt?”
“Naw,”
Jin chuckled. “Dis is all jus’ new ta ‘im. All big’n scary. See if’n Kuwabara brought us a blanket.” Yusuke rummaged through the bag and pulled
out a super soft green blanket. Handing
it over to his mate, Yusuke watched as Jin spread it out on the futon in front
of him. He placed Oops in the middle and
swaddled him snugly inside its soft folds.
It worked like magic. It worked
like magic; Oops was out before Jin had him comfortably cradled in his arms. Yusuke marveled at the change in his
son. He scooted closer until he was
practically in Jin’s lap.
“You’re
amazing.” He gushed softly.
“Naw,” Jin chuckled
“Jus’ gotta thin’ like baby. ‘E’sbeen bundled up
inside me fer so long ‘avin’
all ‘dis air round ‘im ‘as ta be scary.”
“That
sounds about right.” Yusuke whispered,
laying his head on Jin’s shoulder. “I
never would have thought of that.”
“Well now ya know.” Jin
murmured in his mate’s ear.
“Mm.” Yusuke hummed
his agreement as his body relaxed, slumping a tad; his backbone was slanted so
only his shoulders rested against Jin with his head tucked against the smooth
skin of his neck while his legs were spread on either side of Jin’s hips. It couldn’t be that comfortable, but Yusuke’s
gentle, rhythmic breathing told Jin his dark haired mate was asleep. Jin smiled and rested his head against
Yusuke’s on his shoulder and closed his eyes.
It was almost dinner time and both his boys would soon be awake. His own stomach was starting to rumble, but
right now he was more than content to relax and listen to his family sleep.
How do you like them
apples? Oh don’t think it stops there, the Shinobi
and Keiko still have to make their appearances!
