What if.

What if the meeting between Hiei and Keiko had
gone another way as it did into the series?
What would have happened then? Well, this is my
version of it.

Chapter 13
Sorry it took me sooo long to update^^; I
was so busy with drawing and painting (I have nearly twenty new pics out on my
deviant art account) and her at home, that I forgot it^^;
SORRY! I will try to better me^_^; I swear!

How a demon should deal with his pregnant mate�or
should I say not deal?
Hiei sights hard, how long had he avoided it
now?
3 years? Naa�more as 5 if his mind worked
correctly.
He looked through a curtain in the frond yard
of his castle.

There, right in his view stand Mukuro and was trying
together with the Kitzune, to talk sense into Yusukes thick head.
The Toushin was on his edge to destroy
something�not that Hiei minded him�he knew why his former detectives boss was
so much angry.

One word�Keiko.
Hiei closed silently the curtain again; he
could also go and get over with it now�thought, and he would have loved to have
more time until this would happen. She needed her rest, badly but in order to
get the detective back to earth he would have to wake her probably.
Not a though the ongoing father looked forward
to�
Hiei did not approval it that Keiko would be disturbed,
not even from Yusuke!
After all, she had now to carry their child and
that would be a hard task for her!

Yusukes shouting grow lauder at each minute
that passed by; he was nearly completely out of himself now.
Hiei decided it was enough; he made his
presence known with hitting Yusuke over the head with the hilt of his Katana to
shut him up.

Several hours�and some new wracks on his head
�later, Yusuke sat on a bench beside a seemingly pissed fire demon, outside the
same ones castle.
He had never been in it in the first place,
Hiei had taken him out each time he had tried it to see Keiko.
Yusuke was, by now, not any longer mad at his
friend, thought, his inner yokai told him constantly that the hi-youkai took
something that was his!
He was mad at himself.
He had finally understood that he caused this
all himself!

It amazed him greatly that Hiei never had tried
to take her from him after he and Keiko got together. To think that this stoic
and antisocial demon would so helplessly fall for a human girl like Keiko!!! Of
all people!!!
He could not believe it, where had the world
gone�?
He knew, Kurama was right, he should be
thankful that the hi-yokai let him be friends with her; after all he did to
her�but this two????
And thus that�A CHILD???

Yusukes mind simply denied it to work properly
by the mere thought, how would that little one look like anyway�

Next to him, Hiei watched and read the Toushin
the entire time.
He growled lowly under his breath by the way
Yusukes thoughts took in the end but did nothing other to stop him or to let
him know he knew it too.
After all, she would not like him to shop
Yusukes head of�
Live stunk, Hiei thought!

Inside the mansion, Keiko watched the entire
drama unfold from the window of Hiei�s suite.
The guards outside the door had denied her to
go down and try to help and / or speak with Yusuke. They said, that Hiei gave
them the order not to let her go out anywhere near to the enraged Toushin�thought,
she was glad that the fire hybrid was this caring about her and their child,
keiko was also angry that Hiei hold her inside this room!

How dare he, she thought, �I could watch out
for myself and be not a puppet to take care of! �
She gave a sight and lowered her head. The floor
was covered with black stones that shone like if they where glowing from the
inside in a bluish light.
She had often marvelled in this floor cover
since she had brought here by her�seemingly�. absolutely�very jealous new Mate!
Hiei was a hard case to deal with, that she had
known before, but since he had mated her and since she was pregnant now; the
fire half ice demon was more concerned about her welfare as ever before.
The woman had known that Hiei would be one jealous
yokai, after they had mated. He never seems to her the type of male that would
let his woman out of sight too much! The ningen woman sights again, but had he
to be this possessive?

Keiko closed her eyes, from all people she ever
meet in her live, especially Hiei should know how much she needed her freedom
and loved her way of live!
She was sure that the yokai would do what ever
he could to keep her and the growing young in her belly, save. What price it
would ever coast him, Hiei would not let come any harm to them both!
Keiko began silently to cry a little, she was
more then glad he did this but Hiei could not hold everything she hold dear
from her and keep her captive in this rooms!

The young ningen female was confused, hurt and nervous
all together. The hormonal disaster that came with a pregnancy slowly kicked in
and brought her to cry.
She felt caged inside of these rooms out of
sudden and wished nothing more as to flee out of here.
That was exactly the mood, Hiei found her in
only minutes later!

The hi-yokai knew immediately that something
was very wrong with his mate when it started. He had felt it, practically felt
it through their new bound.
His mate was in distress and he was the cause!
As soon he could, Hiei send Yusuke back to his
own territory and raced to his chambers to look after his mate and child.
He easily read her thoughts and so found out
what troubled her this much.

For one time in his live, a little on a loss of
what to do now, and how to make his human mate clear how dangerous it would be
for her and her child to be outside, Hiei thoughts raced inside his head to
find a way to explain Keiko this all without to make her feel caged.

For a moment Hiei wished the sly fox were here
to help.
Kurama certainly would have known how to solve
this problem�why was she this emotional anyway?
After two more minutes thinking and watching
his mate silently from the corners of his entrance, Hiei suddenly remembered
the fox telling him one day something about pregnant females and their
hormones.
Suddenly, Keiko�s mood made sense to the
confused and slightly frantic demon.

Keiko one the other hand could not stop herself
from the damned crying!
If Hiei found her so�he would surely be angry. And
the woman did not want to experience that.
A suddenly around her shoulders appearing arm,
that comforted her in her moody sorrows, surprised and soothed the pregnant
woman immensely.
It belonged to her mate, who currently began to
hold her into a warm and comforting embrace and began to whisper soothing words
in her ear.

Hiei knew, the order, maybe given in the best
intentions from him, had caused this stupid reaction from his pregnant mate1
Inwardly cursing himself for being an idiot and
a baka, Hiei knew he should have told her all the things that now had changed
for her sooner.
To prevent this from happening!
Now he had to deal with the consequences. In this
case; Keiko!

To his utter relieve, she fell instantly in one
of the many sleepy states the pregnancy with the yokai child brought with it.
It the demon the wonderful excuse to cradle her
in his lap and watch her there silently.
He loved the way she smelled�
Hiei loved the way her skin felt against his�
The demon simply loved everything on his mate�
Since he had seen her cursing loudly on this
ningen street, Hiei had not been able to think on everything other as her.

Sure, his mind never used the word; love�but it
was in the end what it was.
Hiei soon realised that he never wanted to live
without his mate, fragile, as Keiko was it.
The apparition did not even wanted to think of
this!

His thoughts got distracted from the growing
energy that came faintly from their unborn child.
It told him that the spirit of this bundle
cells and nerves soon would awake. What in exchange meant for Hiei; the child
was more yokai as human.
A part of the demon was relieved; the child
would not have to live with being cursed to be a hanyou, a half demon.
However, it would be difficult for Keiko to
bear such a yokai child. The young would be aware of its surroundings like he
had been it, even in her womb.
It would know everything that happened around
it.
Hiei could not tell in the moment, what gender
the child would be but he could tell that the growing demon child was strong!

A slight smirk that grows slowly in to a
full-blown smile appeared on the stoic demons face slowly.
Hiei was proud!
Of his unborn and his mate! Her humanity
granted the child to get strong, demons normally killed humans mostly to gain
in power, the child would get from his mother this energy it needed to be very
strong when it would be born.
It could even kill her, its own mother if he
would let it, that is.
This happened only to yokai/ human children
that turned out to be this much yokai instead of half human and half demon.
Hiei knew how to prevent the growing child from
killing its own mother accidentally; Keiko would need energy to be given from
him from now on.

Hiei was determined to let nothing happen to
his mate!
Not even from his own offspring! Luckily, the
heir of Mukuro knew about these things and was prepared for this coming; Mukuro
once told him that s class demons rarely got hanyou children out of such
encounters and over wise. She also told him that he even would have to look out
for a full yokai mate, when she was pregnant.

His genetic was too strong now!
Gently as he could muster it, Hiei let his hand
slide through Keiko`s brown tresses.
Her hair was so soft�
Everything on his ningen mate was soft, and
pleasing to feel, touch or to taste, the short demon shuddered slightly.

Inside his mind his thoughts shut down for
hours, only watching her sleep let Hiei feel a feeling of calm and peace that
he never had experienced before in his entire live.
His own mate...he really had an own mate!
And he would have a child too to take care of,
his own child, born from his own mate�
Nothing other counted for the lonely apparition
in these moments.

Tomorrow, Hiei vowed to himself, tomorrow when
she awoke from the sleep, he would talk with his mate about certain things.
Before Hiei even could think his last thought
to it�s end, his head meet the pillow beside her�s and he was faster asleep as ever
before.
Lulled to the land of Morpheus from the calming
heartbeat of his mate beside him in his arms and fully content with the world and
himself for the first time of his troubled life.
