Scene 18
Scene 18 ------------- Staci’s Bedroom
* Yukina knocks on the wooden shoji door. She waits until she hears Staci’s soft invitaion.
Staci (Quietly)- Come in.
* When Yukina enters she finds Staci still on the futon, curled up under the thin blanket.
Yukina- Are you going to get up this morning? We have a guest that’s come to join us for breakfast.
* Staci sits up as Yukina moves to pull the curtains open.
Staci- Hiei?
* Yukina sighs, then turns to look at Staci.
Yukina- No, I’m sorry, Staci. I don’t think he’ll..
Staci- I know he’ll come back for me!
* Yukina wilts a little when Staci’s head falls into her hands.
Staci- Oh, it’s all my fault!
Yukina- Staci,..
Staci- If I hadn’t been so.. afraid of him.. He hates it when we’re scared of him. We’re his family.
* Yukina goes over and sits down on the futon in front of her. Staci wipes her cheeks.
Yukina- My brother won’t abandon you.. He’s just got a lot of.. other things to be concerned about..
Staci- I know.. His energy has grown so much.. I could actually feel how strong he’d grown and it.. scared me.
Yukina- That’s perfectly normal. Most demons understand that the more powerful they are the more humans fear them.
* Staci meets Yukina’s soft red eyes.
Staci- I miss him.. I’m worried about him.
Yukina- I haven’t known that Hiei is my brother for very long. But I’ve known him for several years. I can honestly say that I’ve never seen him in a situation that he couldn’t handle.. In fact, I believe that if he truly wants it he could be the next King of all Demon World.
* Staci actually deflates at these words that were meant to encourage her.
Staci- Oh no. Then he would forget about.. us.
* She raises a hand to touch her belly. Yukina reaches over and lays her hand on Staci’s.
Yukina- Don’t give up hope. Hiei’s an honorable demon. I’m sure he won’t forget you or his child.
* Staci swallows, then nods.
Staci- Yes. Of course he won’t.. I’m just on an emotional roller coaster because of this baby.
* Yukina smiles.
Yukina- Hai. I’m sure that’s all it is, sister.
Staci- Well, at least I’m past the morning sickness stage now.. I am so hungry. Let’s go eat.
* Yukina stands and helps Staci up then follows her out. Hoping secretly that her words are true.
