I awoke in a dungeon, first asking myself whether or not I was still a virgin. My head throbbing painfully and my whole body felt like jelly. I groaned and rose to my feet. I stumbled a bit, and placed my palm to my forehead with some effort. I tried shaking my head, to try and get the dizziness out of it, but it stayed. I tried again, it didn't work. They must have drugged me, I thought. Smart dumbasses.
I looked around. The dungeon was dark and damp in front of me was a heavy wooden door, a semicicle with verticle bars going across it was my only window in this place, and it was small, it made me feel like a
trapped rat. I wanted to blow it to bits, but because I felt so distorted (which means I can't consentrate enough to do magic), I couldn't do much. I fell back down, propping my arms behind me to keep myself up.
" Dammit... " I muttered. Then I sighed. I knew one day all my sins'd catch up with me and bitchslap me right across the face someday. I just didn't want it to be this soon.
" ...Psst... "
My head snapped up attentively, I was sure I had heard something.
" Psst! " it was more persistant this time.
I looked to the semicircle window. I saw a shadow peering in.
" Psst! " it said again.
" I heard you the first time! " I snapped, my head throbbed.
" Sorry. " came a sheep reply.
" What do you want? " I was trying to feel superior to him, even though I felt like shit and my head felt dyslexic.
" The guards told me of a prisoner here who was a murderer. "
" And? What of it? "
" Are-- "
" No. "
" Hey, you didn't even let me finish! "
" No. " I said it more firmly this time.
" Areyouhim? " the stranger said this quickly so I couldn't cut him off.
" No. "
" Liar. "
" I'm not a liar. " Now that was a lie.
" What's your name? "
" Why should I tell you? "
" Because your nice...? "
I would've laughed my guts out if my head didn't feel so messed up. But I did managed a 'hn'.
" Hn? What is the world is 'hn' supposed to mean? "
" Nothing that concerns you. "
" I'm Prince Kurama Daufan. "
" Prince?! " my head cocked to one side. Great...
" What of it? " the prince said, mimicing me perfectly.
I said nothing, and turned away. The last thing I want to talk to is a spoiled brat who thinks he can order me around.
" So will you tell me your name now? "
" NO. "
" Aw, come on, please "
" Why don't you try reading the Wanted Posters? " I asked.
" Because I don't want to. Besides, my father doesn't let me know what happens around the kingdom, anyway. "
Spoiled brat, I thought.
" If I let you out, will you tell me your name? "
I raised an eyebrow. All this for a name? Interesting.
" Fine. " I replied in boredom.
An excited cry was heard from the other side of the door. It reminded me of a kid about to open a birthday present or something.
The door swung open and I saw him. I lifted myself up and stumbled to the door. He tried to help me, but a simple growl kept him at bay. I looked at him in the light for the first time. Prince Kurama Daufan. And nearly gasped, if I hadn't had a good control of my mind.
He had long, beautiful red hair that seemed to flow like a little waterfall. He was dressed in the formal castle attire. What one of fancy would wear to impress someone of great importance, I suppose. But it was his eyes, yes, his gorgeous forest green eyes, that caught my own. They looked neither bratty or superior, but innocent and pure. They were the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen.
" Wow, you're really short. " the Prince remarked.
" Shut up! " I snapped. My head pulsed painfully again, and I groaned, my legs nearly bucking under my weight.
" Now will you tell me your name? " his eyes looked at me hopefully, ignoring my sudden weakness in the knees.
" It's Hiei. " I turned and walked away, very thankful that I forced myself to recover quickly. No way was I going to show weakness in front of a royal brat.
" Hey! That's very rude, you know! "
" Oh, you were expecting a courtsey? Deal with it. I'm getting out of here. " I knew I was being rude, but I still can't stand princes.
" You don't know the way. " I heard Kurama chimed.
" Hn, and what do you care? "
" You could get killed. "
" And? "
" I can help you. "
" Hn, why would you want to help me? "
He fell silent. I heard him trying to tell me something, but stopped himself.
" Please? " came a meek question.
I turned to him, almost gapingly. I had never heard such a reply before. I mean, sure, when I my victims were begging me not to kill them. But not such a plead that would have caught my attention like that. Those eyes locked onto mine again. His forest green orbs were staring right at me. I grew almost lost in their gaze. And a feeling rose up in my stomach. A feeling as if I were lost in a turbulent sea of constantly changing emotions. Anxiety, anguish, pain, depression, sadness, love?. All this, I felt in as quick as a split second. And just as quickly as it hit me, it stopped.
" Fine. " I said, shaking these emotions off. " Whatever. "
I could feel him smiling, and caught up with me in a soft giggle, just like a girl. I frowned at that.
" Come on, " his hand grabbed my wrist and led me along. My heart thumped loudly. " There's a passageway here. "
I felt confuse again. If I didn't know better, I'd say I was acting as if I was falling... No. No way. Am I actually falling in love?! With a prince?!?! I shook the feeling off. No, love made me weak. And I can't be weak. It's distracting to my magic.
I nearly bump into him as he suddenly stopped. I looked beyond his tall figure, and saw him tapping against a wall.
" Yes, it's called stone. Fasinating, isn't it? " I mocked.
" Oh, shush. " Kurama hissed at me. " There's a secret passageway here. They were made to hide the royal family. Ah! Here it is! "
He pressed against a stone that was high above his head, he, himself, had to stand on the tips of his toes to reach it. There was a faint click and he pushed it easily, as if he were opening a mere door. I let out a low whistle,
" Didn't even see it. Clever. "
" It gets boring after a while, " he said leading me in. " You get to know that passages better, but there's nothing much to do after you've done it already. "
We came to a spiral of stone stairs that seemed to lead to heaven, or maybe Hell, depending on your outlook of the world. I tipped my head up, and my crimson eyes followed their path. It was hot, I soon realized, giving me the thought that this wall was close to the outside of the castle. A tug on my hand brought me back to ground level as he dragged me up.
" So why are you helping me? " I asked as we climbed.
" Not so loud, they can still hear us. " he whispered.
" So why are you? " I whispered back.
" Well, I've always wanted to have a friend. "
" You must be pretty desperate if you want a friend who's wanted for murder and witchcraft. "
" It's better than having those, ooh...! " his voice grew hateful. " those... things that call themselves my friends. There're just there because I'm rich and the heir to the throne. They don't see me. Just the prince who'll become king. "
" And what makes you think I can? " I nearly tripped over a step.
" I don't know. But I guess it would be fun to try, wouldn't it? " He glanced back at me with a grin. But I didn't grin back. Not that I didn't want to. I haven't smiled for someone in ever. Well, except when I kill them but that's because it's fun watching them die. Still never for someone else though.
My head ached again, and I nearly tripped and fell on him.
" Hey, are you okay? " Kurama asked me, crouching down to my level, which made me uncomfortable.
" Y-yeah. I'm fine. "
" No, you're not. I thought the guards had drugged you. It should be wearing off in a couple hours. Come on, let's go to my room. "
" You're room? " I stopped him as he stood up.
" Yeah, is there a problem? It's just right there. " he pointed up to the staircase right next to us. " There's a door there, and it lead to my room, you can rest in there. "
I rubbed my forehead, but it still felt like I had a huge hangover. " Ugh... Fine. "
He helped me up to his room. As he opened the door I felt cool air wash over me. I sighed in relief and looked around his room.
" So this is how the other half lives. " I rambled.
