Chapter 3

Don’t Say a Word

Seth followed Yusuke into his home. He though it be a good idea to stay with Yusuke, then with Kurama. His grandmother didn’t need a “heads up” on the future.
Seth sat on the floor, watching T.V. Yusuke was hogging the couch. As Seth sat watching, a wave of pain washed over him. Yusuke looked over as the young teen flinched in pain.
“Hey, something wrong?” Yusuke asked as he sat up.
Seth held his chest as the pain got worse. His eyes shut. What was happening, where was this pain coming from?

“Seth?” Yusuke whispered, trying to get the teen to answer him.
‘Wait! Could something be happening to one of my parents? I know I won’t disappear if this time’s Seth is never born-I’m from a different timeline. But I would feel their pain if one got to close to dying…’ Seth’s eyes snapped open and anger filled them.
He stood up quickly. ‘She wouldn’t, would she?’ he thought. Wouldn’t Lyra want him to be born here?

“Whoa! Seth, what is it?” Yusuke asked as he followed Seth out.
“It’s Lyra, she has gone after my mother. She is going to kill her. Being that I’m here now, she doesn’t care if I’m born in this time. I won’t disappear if something happens to this me,” Seth said quickly.
***Elsewhere***

Jackie growled as she forced herself to stand. It was a cheap shot that had knocked her out of her second story bedroom window. The bitch had attacked her from behind.
Jackie’s back, legs, and arms were cut open from crashing though the window. Lyra stared down. “How the fox fell for you is a mystery,” Lyra murmured. Jackie spit out some blood. Okay, the cheap shot to the face had managed to spill some blood.
“What the fuck is your problem?” Jackie growled, furious at this person-demon, rather.

“Your life is the problem for me,” Lyra said through clenched teeth.
Jackie made a face. “What is up with you damn demons and messing with my life?” she growled in an annoyed voice.
Lyra jumped down, landing nicely. She stepped forward, in front of Jackie. “Being so young, you don’t have your demon self under control,” Lyra said as she grinned. It faded as the young girl started to laugh.

“I may be human nowadays. But I was a demon a hell of a lot longer. Just because I was reborn doesn’t mean I can’t control it,” Jackie laughed. Okay, a small lie, but Lyra didn’t need to know.
Lyra glared. “Shut up,” Lyra hissed, attacking. Jackie moved quickly. The many cuts on her body was slowing her down slightly. Lyra grinned. Using one of her numerous powers, she formed a sword of ice and stabbed it through Jackie’s stomach.
Jackie gasped as the sword slid though her body. ‘Damnit! I’ve gotten careless over the years,’ she thought as Lyra pulled the sword back out.
‘There! Her own open spot,’ Jackie thought as lighting flashed in her eyes and her own sword appeared. Jackie was able to slam the lighting sword into Lyra shoulder, dragging it up so that Lyra’s right arm went limp. Lyra let out a scream. Just as Jackie thought she could get away, she was knocked into a tree.
Lyra grinned. Two of her males stood in front of the princess.
“Finish her,” Lyra said with a glare. The two demon move forward.
“SPIRIT GUN!”
Both demons disappeared in the blast. “Hey, Princess wets a lot. Find someone who cares when you play with them!” Yusuke yelled.
Seth got down near Jackie. “Hang on Mo-Jackie. We will get you somewhere safe,” Seth said comfortingly to the half-awake girl.
Lyra growled and disappeared. With only one arm, she couldn’t fight.
Yusuke looked back. Seth had picked Jackie up gently. Yusuke blinked. The girl was pretty. Her hair was shoulder length, it was dirty blond in color. When she opened her eyes, Yusuke could see that they were ocean blue. She was pale, from the looks of it, but it couldn’t be from her loss of blood. She hadn’t bled that much.

“So that’s your m…” Yusuke stopped talking when Seth kicked him in the leg.
“She awake…barely…but enough to hear,” Seth said.

**Genkai’s Temple**
“Hey, old hag! We need some help here!” Yusuke yelled after running up the steps. Seth followed, carrying Jackie.

“Lives are depending on her… Kurama’s future family is depending on her… Hell, Kurama’s human form ever getting laid is depending on her,” Yusuke yelled.
Seth stared at Yusuke. “Please don’t put it that way,” he said, shaking his head.
Genkai open the door with a dull look on her face. “Dimwit! Quit yelling…” She stopped when she saw the bloodied girl in Seth’s arms.
“What did you do to her?” Genkai asked, leading them in.
“I didn’t do this… Hey, what the hell was that supposed to mean?” Yusuke snapped. Genkai didn’t answer as Seth put Jackie down on a bed.
“Okay, you two; out. She doesn’t need you staring at her when she wakes,” Genkai said, pushing the boys out. Genkai eyes went to Seth as she did. She would find out who he was later. Genkai shut the door, then head over to Jackie to heal her.

****
“Is your mom a demon?” Yusuke asked. Seth nodded.

“Much like my father, she had been reborn… She was bit of a troublemaker in demon world, and that’s a nice way of putting it,” Seth said, looking at his hands.
“So’s that where you get the temper?” Yusuke laughed.
Seth sweatdropped. “Haha… Yeah, her demon side gets ticked off easily. But she never get mad at Dad.”

Yusuke laughed again. “That’s good.”

Genkai walked into her living room where the boys were. “She’s going to be fine. She’s asleep now, and she’s tired enough that I don’t think she’ll be getting up tonight.” The boys nodded.

“So who are you, and what happen to her?” Genkai asked. Seth told her what was going on.
**One Hour Later**
Genkai stared. “Well, this is something,” she mumbled. “Let’s get some rest,” she said as she stood to leave.

**Elsewhere**
Hiei sat in a tree near a house that he had been watching for the last couple of nights. He had been caught one time by the person he was watching, but the girl didn’t mind.
“Hey,” called a voice from the window. “Are you going to tell me your name tonight, or are you going to stay unknown?” Hiei looked over with an evil glare.
“You should know by now, that look doesn’t work on me. Every guy that gave that look in the past just got a black eye,” Rachel said, resting her elbow on the edge of the windowsill. Hiei grunted as he came over and jumped into the room as Rachel moved back.
Every night, the teen girl seemed to get a couple of words out of Hiei. She knew he was a demon. That was something, at least.
“Come on, you know my name. Out with it, demon boy. Or I’m going to call you Shorty from now on,” Rachel said, crossing her arms and returning Hiei’s look of evil.

“Hiei,” he growled.
“Okay, look you livid. So was it that bad to say it? Hiei, hmm. You’re a fire demon and you want to rule the world.” Rachel smiled. “May have to get in line for that. It’s every evil guy’s idea.” Hiei rolled his eyes, sitting on the edge of the sill.

Rachel smirked. “Well Hiei, hungry?” she asked, holding out a plate. Hiei didn’t say anything but took the plate. At least he got warm food here.

“Hiei…” Rachel whispered. Hiei looked to her. “Hn?”
“I know I’m a stupid human girl to you. But to me, you’re a friend. If you ever need anything, just ask.”

Hiei blinked as he watched her.
‘A friend,’ he thought. ‘The girl really isn’t scared of me.’ Hiei finished his food and set the plate down as he turned to jump out the window. He felt Rachel grab his arm.
“Hiei, please stay here with me,” she said, her voice breathy. Hiei stared at her, then to his arm where she was holding on to him.

“Child, I can’t stay here. Not tonight.”

Rachel sadly let go of the fire demon. Hiei sighed and gently reach out touching her face.

“Don’t look at me like that,” he grumbled. Rachel smiled slightly.

“I’ll be back in a day or so,” Hiei said as he disappeared. Rachel sighed.
“Why do I always fall for the dark and mysteries guys?” she muttered as she shut her window.

****Next Day***
Jackie laughed at Yusuke. “You? Spirit detective. Haha,” Jackie laughed as she sat at the table. “I’m surprised the Earth is still here.” Yusuke’s eye twitched.
“Oh come on, I’m not that bad,” Yusuke grumbled. Jackie stared at him and then burst out laughing again. Yusuke growled as he looked away. Seth sweatdropped. ‘That’s my mother,’ he thought.
“Well, you have to come with us while we meet up with the others,” Seth said as he stood. Jackie finally stop laughing.

“Okay, okay, I’m coming,” Jackie said, following suit. “Sorry Yusuke. So far, you’re a really cool guy.” She patted Yusuke’s shoulder. The three headed out back to the city.
Outside Yusuke’s house, Kurama, Hiei, and Kuwabara were waiting. The three looked up as Yusuke, Seth, and Jackie walked up. The group headed inside.

Jackie looked around the table. They had all become quiet once they had entered the room.

“How you two know I was in trouble?” Jackie asked as she looked to Yusuke and Seth.
“Well, I won’t be a very good spirit detective if I didn’t know when someone was in the need of help. And don’t start laughing again,” Yusuke snapped. Jackie bit her lip to stop.
“Yeah, and…we’re guys. We’re supposed to protect girls,” Yusuke said.
“Yes I, Kazuma Kuwabara, will protect you,” Kuwabara said, grabbing Jackie’s hand. “True love…” He was hit upside the head by Yusuke and Seth.

“Go bug someone else, lover boy,” Seth hissed.
“Hey, what the hell…” Kuwabara growled as he was pulled away by Yusuke.
“You idiot! We don’t need you messing up the future,” Yusuke growled.

“What?”

Yusuke sighed. “Jackie is Kurama future mate…wife. Seth’s mother.”
Kuwabara’s eyes went wide. “Oh wow. So if I was to marry Jackie…Seth would be my son,” Kuwabara reasoned.
Yusuke hit him again. “She’s a demon! She’ll eat you instead of marrying you. Like she would even think of you like that. Hell, I’ll kill you if you try to mess up the future.”

“So what are you all going to do about this Lyra girl? I mean, if she gets ya, you’re fu*ked. And I mean it,” Jackie said.
Seth sweatdropped. “We haven’t got that far,” he muttered.

“Hey, do you guys know why she went after me in the first place?” Jackie asked, raising an eyebrow.

The guys looked at one another. “She just doesn’t like girls. Especially powerful ones,” Yusuke said.
Jackie stood. “I should head home. My parents will be wondering what happen.”

“Hey, why doesn’t Kurama walk you home?” Yusuke offered. Kurama blinked as he looked at Yusuke. Jackie looked at the red head.

She smiled gently. “Would you?” she asked. Kurama looked over and nodded.
NOTE: Well there chapter 3. I hope you like. It seem that Hiei and Kurama have found there future mates/wives but will they really end up together. Please review 3 to update. It make me write so much faster.
