Chapter 4: Discoveries and Surprises

Five months had passed since Yukina had moved in and things had gotten easier on both Yusuke and Hiei with his sister�s presence being there. She was a huge help to then, both helping Hiei regulate his energy levels and around the home as Hiei had started to get a little too big for certain things� most things. Over time Yusuke had noticed certain changes in his lover�s form, not just that his belly was expanding. This all came to a culmination when he woke earlier that day. The pair had long since given up on sex, yet that day Yusuke couldn�t help but curl against Hiei�s form, stroking the soft skin, one hand working up from the abdomen and the other working down. However Yusuke got the surprise of his life when he encountered, very female, breasts and no cock to mention.
The touching awoke Hiei, who looked over his shoulder at Yusuke. �What�s the matter Yu�� He suddenly stopped when he realised that it wasn�t his normal voice he was speaking with. �WHHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME?!� He shouted as he gave himself a thorough examination. �WHY HAVE I CHANGED?!� Yukina hearing the shouting from her room quickly entered their bedroom, staring at her brother�s very feminine form.
�I don�t know, Hiei. I�m as shocked as you.� Yusuke said, neither having realised that Yukina was in the room. �If I knew I would have stopped it from happening. I loved you as you were, not that you are ugly now of course.� Yukina couldn�t stop herself from laughing, bringing the attention of the pair onto her.
�Obviously you�re close to term, my brother� or should I say sister.� Yukina said between giggling. �How else are you expecting to give birth, through your anal canal?� Hiei blushed as Yusuke tried to stop himself from laughing too. �I know that it isn�t funny, but I really can�t help but laugh at the situation. Just look at yourselves as having a new way to have sex until the children have been weaned.� The looks that the two men gave her, one of shock made her laugh harder. �I�m sorry, but I really have to go.� She fled the room before either of the others could do anything.
Yusuke raised his eyebrow. �She does give an interesting thought though, doesn�t she?� He asked Hiei, who had hidden his face in Yusuke�s chest before Yusuke pushed him back to kiss him. �Come on, don�t act like the blushing virgin� we all know otherwise.� He said patting Hiei�s belly gently. He could hear Hiei slightly whimper something. �I�m sorry, I missed that.�
�Why do I have to fully become a girl?� Hiei said louder. �Why does it have to be so long?� Yusuke pulled him close, knowing that it wouldn�t be long now before their babies would be born. �At least the wait is nearly over, eh?� Hiei asked as he relaxed against Yusuke. You know, I�ve been thinking of names for our son and daughter. I have always liked the names Yasuo and Kaiya. If you don�t like them we can always have different names for our babies.� Yusuke shook his head.
�They sound perfect, Hiei.� He said with a grin. �Just perfect for our children.� He stroked his lover�s hair when he suddenly felt Hiei tense up. �What�s the matter, my love?� He asked as red orbs looked into his brown ones, worry seemed to be the chief emotion flickering in the crimson depths. �Hiei, please tell me.� It was then that Hiei relaxed again.
�It�s nothing, Yusuke.� Hiei said as he gently stroked Yusuke�s face. �I just thought I felt what Yukina mentioned as a contraction, but its only hunger. Could you get me something from the kitchen?� Yusuke nodded as he left the room in search of food for Hiei. Hiei sighed as he watched his love leave the room, he envied Yusuke now, hi9s lover�s form hadn�t changed, unlike his. All he knew was that he would never be the same as he had been before� neither would Yusuke, but that was for a different reason. He only wanted those he carried to be born, just to he could return to training once more. He didn�t want to keep this weak form any longer than he needed to. Just then a flash of pain jolted him to his senses, and he knew that his babies would be born that day. �YUSUKE!� He screeched to get Yusuke to return to him, he knew that was the one tone of voice that Yusuke would answer to no matter what, and true enough Yusuke ran all the way from the kitchen, leaving a startled Yukina.
�Hiei, what�s wrong?� Yusuke asked seeing Hiei�s emotional state. Through the pregnancy, Hiei had always remained mostly unemotional, like his usual self, except when they were in bed together, however this was a different emotion from the love and lust the crimson orbs often showed. This time it was pain shown in the mirror-like eyes. �It�s the babies, they�re coming, aren�t they?� Yusuke asked, then Hiei nodded, not wanting to speak. �I�ll get Yukina, maybe she�ll know more about birth too, don�t worry I�ll be right back.� Hiei gripped Yusuke�s hand to stop him leaving. �YUKINA, THE BABIES ARE COMING!� Yusuke shouted, knowing that the Koorime would hear him and get to the room as fast as she could. Moments later and the Koorime stood before them, looking worried.
�How are you feeling, Hiei?� She asked as she sat on his other side, before hesitantly laying her hand on Hiei�s belly to try to sense what had caused the contractions to start, and realised that the babies were more formed than Koorime children at that point, and realised that it must be the Toushin influence in them. She knew that the Toushin were a faster growing race, but she hadn�t realised the exact growth difference in them. Hiei�s body, being part Koorime, was dealing with this as though it was a normal Koorime pregnancy, not as a half-breed pregnancy with a faster growing race. She could sense that the time of birth would be as fast as Hiei�s body could cope with. Yusuke held Hiei�s head to his chest, knowing that Hiei required the comforting. �I thought that Hiei�s body would deal with the pregnancy as though it was what it was, a half-breed pregnancy, but instead his body is acting as though it is a normal Koorime pregnancy. In other words Hiei is overdue.� She said as she removed her hand. �His body has just realised it�s error and is rushing to catch up with the time it has spent being pregnant when it shouldn�t have been.� She looked at Hiei. �I think this is going to be more painful than you first thought.� She then turned to leave the room. �I can�t wait to see my niece and nephew, but until then I shall leave you alone. This is a private moment between parents and their young. I am sure that instincts will take over soon.� She then left, closing the door behind her.
�That�s great.� Yusuke said, feeling as though he was thrown in at the deep end, as he left Hiei�s head. �Please forgive me, I don�t know exactly what to do. I�m just going to do what Yukina suggested and follow my instincts.� He kissed the swollen belly, feeling as it contracted. He then moved lower, kissing Hiei�s hips, before looking between Hiei�s legs. �Hmm, so that�s what��
�Stop staring.� Hiei snarled. �You know that there�ll be plenty of time for you to stare later when I have finished giving birth to your�� Hiei was cut off when Yusuke licked along the opening, making him moan rather than cry in pain. The lick having made Hiei relax enough for his body to begin to give birth properly, and noticing that, Yusuke continued to lick along the opening, not caring when a flood of blood-like liquid flowed from the opening, staining the bed. Returning to licking, he could feel the vulva dilate and knew that one of their children was about to be born. Licking around the opening he knew that it would encourage Hiei more than not.
After some twenty minutes of pushing their son, Yasuo, was held to Hiei�s breast, suckling happily while Hiei�s body had seemed to calm down. �Trust him to be impatient.� Yusuke said with a grin as he held Yasuo after he finished feeding from his mother. �I wonder who he gets that from.� The child squeaked as though answering his father�s statement, making Hiei smile. �How is little Kaiya?� He asked as Yuen started to sleep in his arms.
�Taking her own sweet time.� Hiei said as he touched his belly. It was then, as though telling her mother that she would be born when she was ready, that the contractions started again. �Ow, ouch!� Hiei yelped, more in surprise than in pain, their son having already stretched the way. Yusuke gently lay their son into the cot that had been made up for them as a place where the firstborn could be left so that Yusuke could help Hiei during the birth of their second twin.
The birth of Kaiya took much less time than that of her older twin, even though she was only just smaller than her older sibling, and it wasn�t long before she, too, happily suckled at Hiei�s breast, once being licked clean. Hiei allowed Yusuke to clean him once he was sure that the afterbirth was all out, as she suckled happily. The birth had taken a lot of energy from Hiei, and once Kaiya had stopped suckling he tucked into a full plate of fried food. Yusuke knew that the energy would be vitally important to the growth of his children, and also to the recuperation of his mate. All the time, Yukina had stayed out of his way, knowing that when both were happy enough to leave the room, that then she would see the babies, however she had called over Kurama and Kuwabara to see the children, and Yusuke passed that titbit of information onto his mate.
�Really?� Hiei asked as he started on the second plate, he looked at the twins sleeping soundly. �She invited both over. You sure?� Yusuke nodded. �Well, well, they must have been worried over us.� He said. Yusuke just stared at Hiei, he hadn�t expected that reaction from his lover, but said nothing. �As long as both of them doesn�t think about touching our babies, I guess I could live with them being here.� That sounded more like the Hiei that Yusuke knew and loved.
�Believe me, Hiei, they won�t get half a chance. I�d rather rip their heads off than see our babies hurt by them.� Yusuke said with a protective glance at the youngsters sleeping on the bed, curled up next to each other. �Now or in the future when they are older.� Hiei laughed.
�Now, Yusuke, when they�re older I am sure that Yasuo will be able to do the head-ripping for both them.� He said with a smile, and he gently touched Yasuo�s head, making their son yawn as he woke, his ruby eyes, like his mother�s opened. Hiei could already see what Yasuo would look like; he would have the looks of his father, yet Hiei�s own elemental abilities, a Toushin with fire abilities. Their daughter�s looks and abilities had been decided long before her birth. Kaiya was a Koorime, pure and simple, and like the Koorime, she would be totally alien to Hiei and Yusuke. Neither of them could teach their baby girl, only Yukina could do that.
As though that thought touched Kaiya thoughts, their daughter awoke, and touched her mother. Unlike human babies, young youkai developed quickly, and their growth then slowed. After all, in Makai, a youkai�s natural habitat, there may be a time when the family had to move quickly, so the babies were able to walk and run from a young age, not to mention eating solids. The time for them to walk, run and wean was a while off yet, though. Yusuke smiled at the sight as Hiei pulled the pair close to him, allowing them to suckle for a short time. �So when do you want to introduce our little ones to their audience.�
�To their extended, adopted, family?� Hiei asked almost innocently. He knew that by introducing them as sort-of family meant that himself and Yusuke could rely on them to help them out if they needed some time alone to become� reacquainted with each other. �Maybe we should get it over with now, that way we get more time alone with our children later.� He said as he gently prised the children off of his body, much to their dislike. �I know, I know my darlings, but we need you both to get used to the family, no matter how strange it is.� Hiei said with a touch of mirth. He handed their son to Yusuke while he dressed and then lifting their daughter. He had already noted, with some satisfaction, that the bump had decreased in size already. �Come on, Yusuke.� He said with a wink as he opened the door, allowing Yusuke to lead the way to the living room, where the trio was waiting. However nobody had told them that Keiko had also joined them.
It was Keiko that Yusuke first saw. �Keiko!� He exclaimed, surprised to see the female after the sleepover so long ago. �I thought that you never wanted to see me again.� Yasuo started to squirm in Yusuke�s arms. He entered the room, intending to still show off his son, even though Hiei was more nervous with Keiko being there. However Hiei had decided to follow Yusuke�s example the moment that Yusuke had mentioned his ex�s name. He walked into the room a moment later, to see Yusuke�s smile greet him. Then Hiei realised that he could just ignore Keiko if he needed to.
Keiko looked up when she heard Yusuke say her name and smiled. �I never meant it, Yusuke. I just� lost it I guess. It�s not every day that you learn that your fianc� had an affair with one of his male friends. I am sorry that I over reacted.� She smiled at Hiei. �So who is she?� Keiko asked, nodding at Hiei.
�That�s Hiei, Keiko.� Yusuke said knowing before he said it, that Keiko would be surprised. �It seems that my very male boyfriend isn�t so male when it comes to having kids.� He got a dig in the ribs for his comment, making Yusuke wince. However the comment had its desired effect on Keiko, who stared at Hiei as though he had grown another two heads complete with three eyes on each. �Anyway we have two beautiful twins.� He now sounded excited as looked down at his son. �This is Yasuo, our son and Hiei holds our daughter, Kaiya.� That led to a flurry as people went to have a look at the twins, leading to a lot of cooing and a screech from Kuwabara who got his finger bitten by Yasuo when he dared to try to touch him, leading to Kuwabara being laughed at. However Yukina knew what Hiei having a Koorime child meant for her, that she would have to teach Kaiya about her Koorime heritage.

When all the commotion about the twins died down and everyone started to leave, Hiei approached his sister. �Yukina I was wondering if you�� Yukina held up her hand before he could complete the question. She had been expecting the question the whole night and knew that it would happen when the others left.
�I know what you�re going to ask, Hiei.� She said, delighting in the shocked look on her brother�s face. �Yes, when Kaiya is old enough, I shall teach her about the ice arts of the Koorime, about her heritage.� She saw the look of relief on both Hiei and Yusuke�s faces and smiled as she lifted Kaiya out of her mother�s arms. �So, my little niece, when you�re older auntie Yukina will teach you, and I know that you will be a very quick learner, like your parents.� She then handed the girl back to Hiei, just in time for the twins� hungry cries to resound through the room. Yusuke knew that it would be a short time before the children would be able to do things by themselves, but it would seem like a lifetime while it was happening. He looked at Hiei, who was suckling the babies, and his crimson eyes looked back.
�Trust me, Yusuke, it is your turn next. I�m not going to be your brood mare the whole time.� Then the half-breed turned his attention back to their suckling babies, knowing that Yusuke knew that he meant what he said. Hiei would cloister himself away every heat that he had if he had to. That made Yusuke sigh, he had a choice: agony or abstinence during Hiei�s heat cycle� what a choice to give a red-blooded male. However he knew that he would give in to Hiei�s wishes sooner or later. He didn�t want Hiei to be a brood mare either�
