Scene 4 --------- Later That Day


* When Lily stirs awake and stretches she realizes that she is still in Hiei's arms. She blinks her eyes open then looks up at him.


Lily- You.. stayed with me?

Hiei- Of course.

Lily- You didn't have to..

Hiei- No, I didn't.


* After a moment she smiles softly.


Lily- Thank you.

Hiei- I only did what I would have done for any of you.. It's my duty to..


* Lily rolls her eyes as she sighs and squirms out of his grasp.


Hiei- Lily?

Lily- It was the first time I've really slept well since.. the last one.. I needed the rest to clear my mind.


* Hiei stands.


Hiei- Fox,..

Lily- We'd better get back to..


* She clamps her mouth shut when Hiei reaches out and yanks her back around to face him.


Hiei- What did I do now?

Lily- Nothing.


* The way the word is spoken rubs Hiei the wrong way.


Hiei- I'm doing everything I'm required.. What more do you..?


* Lily moves back when he releases her. For a moment she just looks down at him sadly, then turns to leave. Hiei shakes his head and follows.


Hiei- I can't give something I don't have.

Lily- Then why do you stay here?

Hiei- You know the d--- answer to that!


* She glances down at him.


Lily- Then we're all trapped.

Hiei- I no longer see it that..


* Hiei pauses to look down the ravine a moment. Lily senses the large amount of released energy, also, and stops. When everything goes quiet once more Lily glances down at Hiei.


Lily- Spring will end in a couple of days. The skirmishes now are more or less just the last ditch efforts of desperate rogues.

Hiei- Hn. The cats take care of them well enough.


* Hiei looks back up at the Kitsune.


Lily- You're bored. You want some action so bad you can taste it.

Hiei- No sense in denying that.


* Lily nods, shakes herself free from her empathic concentration, and continues off. Hiei watches her swaying tail as she leaves.


Lily- Don't worry. Once spring ends summer will come.


* Hiei blinks up to fall into step beside her.


Hiei- This is when I'll begin to deal with the other alphas.

Lily- Hai.. You'll have at least one female to use if I'm needed..


* Hiei stops and glares after her. Lily pauses to look back at him.


Lily- What?

Hiei- What the h---..?

Lily- Well, it's obvious why you won't be using the ones that are still pregnant.. You'll never lower Sarista to that..

Hiei(Snarls)- I won't do it to you, either!


* Hiei continues on past her.


Hiei- I'll sleep with every f---ing one of them myself before I..!

Lily- Why? If you don't care about me and you're only 'doing your duty..'


* Hiei stops to glare back at her over his shoulder.


Hiei- Shut up.


* Lily crosses her arms.


Hiei- Maybe I'm incapable of.. affection..


* Hiei lowers his eyes and scowls, missing the Kitsune roll her eyes again in exasperation.


Hiei- But that doesn't mean that I would.. whore any of you out like that.. Now, enough of this nonsense, Fox.


* Hiei turns and blinks away. Lily shakes her head and follows, but keeps her pace slower.
