Hiei's Harem - Pt. 16 - Attaining

Scene 4 --------------- Yusuke’s Office


* When Koenma enters Yusuke continues watching something outside his window. He knows that the Prince is there, but he avoids making any eye contact. This unsettles Koenma somewhat.


Koenma- Yusuke.

Yusuke- Yo.

Koenma- I have some news.


* He moves to look out the large window beside the Toushin. A pair of the monks are sparring not too far away near the dojo building.


Koenma- Some reason that their sparring has your interest so intensely? Or are you just avoiding me?

Yusuke- Why should I avoid you?


* Koenma looks at him, but Yusuke just turns and moves away to sit on his sofa.


Yusuke- You got something to tell me, then do it and get back to your paperwork.

Koenma- Have I offended you in some way?


* Finally Yusuke glances up at the Teen godling.


Yusuke- Do you have a couple dozen free hours?

Koenma- I came to inform you of a couple things.. First of all, Hiei has started making his way toward Alaric. I figure he’ll reach it by tomorrow.

Yusuke- Great. Should I pack a large suitcase or just throw a change in my dufflebag?

Koenma- Yusuke,..

Yusuke- Here’s a thought.. Maybe I shouldn’t even go at all.. Would be less drama for the little prick that way.


* Koenma studies the Toushin a moment.


Koenma- So you’re still upset with Hiei because he spared you a lot of..?


* Yusuke glares darkly up at Koenma.


Yusuke- He crossed a line! It wasn’t his call to.. protect me.. Say whatever the h--- else you came here to say then get back to your own d--- business.

Koenma- You know of.. his mate at the Shrine.

Yusuke- The Human b----..? Yeah.. And how can I ever thank you for telling me all about her?

Koenma- She was taken yesterday.


* Yusuke looks away again. When Koenma tries to read him and realizes that he can’t sense anything his suspecions raise.


Koenma- You don’t seem surprised.. Yusuke, if any harm comes to her.. or his child..

Yusuke- That would just be pure suicide.. wouldn’t it?


* Koenma tilts his head to try to read Yusuke’s face. But all he sees is anguished, barely restrained anger.


Koenma- Yusuke, if you’re planning something stupid..


Yusuke- I’m not a child anymore,.. Junior.


Yusuke looks back up at Koenma.


* Yusuke- You knew what he did to me.

Koenma- Under the circumstances I.. agreed with his decision.

Yusuke- Circumstances?! What circum-..?!


* The tone of his demon form begins to override his voice and his markings flare across his vested chest. Yusuke closes his eyes to regain his control.


Koenma- Yusuke, you need to let this go.

Yusuke- He didn’t play with Kurama’s memories.. Weren’t we both in.. whatever mess it was together? Why just me? Did I do something to hurt Kurama? The Fox has been avoiding me ever since..

Koenma- I don’t have all the answers. You’ll just have to come to the ceremony and ask Hiei yourself.


* Yusuke stands and moves toward the office door. He pauses with one hand on the handle to half glance back toward the Prince.


Yusuke- We’ll be there.. Now show yourself out,.. sir.


* Koenma stands staring at the door when it slams shut behind Yusuke, ‘If you hurt her or the baby he’ll kill you without hesitation, Yusuke’.
