Book 7 - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
The blue blur came through the maternity room, almost bumping into two nurses on her way through. The black blur followed, knocking those same nurses down without them knowing exactly what was going on. The pair ended at the room where a pair of teenagers sat, one with the long deep lavender hair of his mother and the other with the crimson locks belying her father’s heritage.
“Matsu, Inari. Where is your father?”
Matsu looked up at Amaya and Hiei standing next to him, startled at their appearance. “Uh, he’s in with Mom, with Hinote.”
The couple turned and walked quickly into the room, seeing so many people surrounding their daughter. Within the large room, Harime and Kaida stood by the window, Kurama held Hinote’s left hand while Ryu had hold of her right, Yukina placing cold compresses on Hinote’s brow. The demon in question was breathing heavily, but still calm, Yukina’s power radiating through her body in a line of energy that only the demons could see, taking most of Hinote’s pain away, leaving only enough for her to remain aware of what was happening, as to not arouse suspicion in the human doctors.
“Hinote?”
Everyone in the room turned their heads to see Amaya and Hiei, both torn, tattered and soaking wet. Hinote sat up, smiling, pulling away from the startled Yukina, looking past Ryu.
“Mom? Where have you been?”
Amaya walked forward, standing next to her daughter’s bed and placing a hand on her shoulder. “You got a bigger fish to fry than where I have been. You have some work ahead of you .”
“You’re right, Night Rain, she does.”
Amaya turned and saw Keiji, Lily and Ayame in the doorway, all dressed in normal clothes, Keiji and Lily bearing wrapped presents. “She has much work to do. And while she is occupied we are here to do a favor for an old friend and seek out Yusuke Urameshi.”
Yusuke stepped forward from his place on the wall, his eyes fixed on Ayame, looking down at the demon-goddess, his voice soft and controlled, instinctively knowing what was going on. “You’re here for her, aren’t you?”
Ayame nodded. “Yes, but not in the way you are thinking. We come to bless her for that journey and assure that she gets her wish to meet her grandchild before she embarks on the great adventure.”

“Push Mrs. Urameshi. That’s it.”
“RYU URAMESHI, I SWEAR I AM GONNA BLAST YOUR ASS INTO NEXT WEEK FOR DOING THIS TO ME!”
“You’ll be fine, Hia. Keep going.”
Ryu held his wife’s hand as Yukina took the edge of the pain away from Hinote, hand on her shoulder, giving as much support as she could Amaya helped by encouraging her, taking the brunt force of her pain through her hand.
“AHHHH….”
“That’s it, keep pushing. Keep it up just a little more…”
A loud piercing cry filled the room as Hinote pushed, the doctor cradling the baby as it was born, the newborn boy’s cries filling the sterile space. As the doctor laid him in Hinote’s arms she smiled up at Ryu, holding their crying baby close.
“He’s beautiful Ryu.”
Amaya smiled down at her grandson in her daughter’s arms, enjoying the moment while she could. “I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we need to hurry. We don’t have much time.”
