Chapter 6: The Four Saint Beasts Part One

That day was the last time you had seen Yusuke. You figured he must have been fighting Hiei or that other guy, or helping Kurama. During the week however, Kuwabara’s problems grew worse. Every night, the spirits would torture Kuwabara more and every night you would have to comfort the poor guy and end up sleeping next to him for the rest of the night, which you didn’t mind sleeping next to him; it was just the lack of sleep that was getting on your nerves.

On the fifth day, which was a Friday, you decided to discuss some options Kuwabara could take to help him with his problem. That night at dinner, which consisted of another TV dinner, you asked.

“What are you going to do about those haunting? I haven’t gotten a decent night of sleep in weeks! It’s driving me crazy! Is there someone who you can get help from, before I go mad!�Eamp;rdquo; you growled.

Kuwabara was silent for a while, looking like he was thinking it over. Then finally it struck him. “Yeah! That’s what I’ll do! She’ll know how to help me!�Eamp;rdquo; he mumbled.

You looked blankly at him.

“Who?�Eamp;rdquo; you ask.

“Genkai! We go way back, she use to baby sit me and Shizuru, before our mom died. Mom and Genkai were friends, so she would ask Genkai to watch us whenever she went to work at the hospital.�Eamp;rdquo; he said.

You looked at him.

‘This is great! I’m starting to learn about his past! This is so cool! I better ask more questions!�Eamp;rdquo; you thought.

You took in a deep breath.

“If it’s not too much trouble, can I ask about your parents? Like what happened to them?�Eamp;rdquo; you asked.

Kuwabara was quiet for a minute before he took in a deep breath.

“Well, my mom died in a car accident about four years ago, when I was ten. She was driving home from work and a car cut in front of her, causing her to swerve off the road and into a tree. She was killed instantly. Shizuru and me have different dads. Mine was an American who was visiting and had a�Efling with my mom, while Shizuru’s dad was actually married, but when he found out about mom and my dad, he left and we never saw him again. The American went back to where he lived, the jerk, and went home to his family. That’s basically it, my mom died and both Shizuru's and my dad left us to die."

You were taken back by how disturbing his past was. You had never expected his childhood to be so�Etraumatic. It’s no wonder he didn’t become a maniac or something. You looked at him for a moment longer before you stood and walked up to him. He looked at you, a bit confused at what you were doing. He was shocked that you went behind him and gave him a hug, resting your head in the crock of his neck. A blush covered not only your face, but also his. Neither of you were able to see the other’s blush.

"�EYFN).?” Kuwabara gasped.

“I am so sorry Kazuma, I had no idea.�Eamp;rdquo;

You said, hugging him tighter. You smiled, happy that he had finally called you by your first name; so in turn you had to call him by his. However, Kuwabara stiffened and blushed.

“Why did you call me that?�Eamp;rdquo; he asked. You smiled and continued to hug him.

“Because I wanted too, you have a problem with that?�Eamp;rdquo; you said.

Kuwabara heard the joking tone of your voice and grinned, resting his hands on top of your arms that were wrapped around his chest.

“As a matter a fact I do.�Eamp;rdquo; He said.

The two of you stayed like that for a moment, you with a full-blown blush crossing your face, while Kuwabara sat there with a smile on his lips though a thoughtful look on his face.

“Could you just call me Kuwabara? I feel weird with you calling me by my first name.�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara said, breaking the silence.

You nodded in his neck. “Sure. But you gotta call me (YFN), ok?�Eamp;rdquo;

“Ok�E..(YFN)-san�E"

You smiled and continued to hug him. You didn’t mind the –san attached to your name too much, just as long as he wasn’t calling you by your last name. It felt weird to hear that instead of your first. Your mind wandered to the warmth you felt while hugging him; not to mention the sweet aroma that was cinnamon and sweat. There was even a hint of mint in that fragrance that made up Kuwabara’s body odor. It was pretty nice. You wished you could stay as you were forever; however you knew that was only wishful thinking. Kuwabara couldn’t help but get tingles at feeling your warm breath on his neck. He held your arms a little tighter, though not enough to hurt you or for you to notice.

He was lost in the sensations your body warmth and the way you smelled flooded his senses. He found it harder to not like you more then just a friend, but he knew that he couldn’t let him self fall for you; the pain that it would cause not only him but as well as you. It would be too much for him to bear. He took a deep breath, smelling your strawberry scented shampooed hair and with the mix of your vanilla body wash, just made it harder for him to let you go; wanting to take you in his arms and hold you.

However, reality snapped him back as a yawn escaped your mouth. You were tired from the lack of sleep, though Kuwabara’s warmth didn’t help with your sleeping problem. If you continued to hug him as you were, you knew you would and could fall asleep just as you were hugging Kuwabara.

“I’m going to see her tomorrow, Genkai. I’ll leave first thing in the morning. I’m sick of those ghosts causing me nightmares and junk! She’ll definitely help me. She was the one that helped me and Shizuru and taught us how to control our spiritual awareness. She even helped us develop it, so she would have no problem helping me out with controlling them and keeping them away.�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara said, snapping you back before you could actually fall asleep.

Kuwabara took your arms and moved them so he was free of your hug. You sighed, not really wanting to let go, but knew you had to. You back up a bit to let him stand up. He took his plate and placed it in the sink.

“Well, if I’m going to leave early, might as well sleep early. Good night (YFN)-san and thanks.�Eamp;rdquo; He said, as he headed towards the steps.

You looked at him, having not moved from your spot from behind Kuwabara’s chair.

“For what?�Eamp;rdquo;

Kuwabara stopped and turned to you with a smile.

“For just�E..being a great friend.�Eamp;rdquo; He said and with that turned back towards the steps and towards his room.

You felt something deep with in your stomach. It felt good to see him happy and even better that he called you his friend, yet something was missing. You felt empty, as if it wasn’t enough; nothing you did with Kuwabara was enough, and a void seemed to be in your heart. You shook your head. You weren’t the type to ponder or worry about things that might be nothing important.

You stretched your arm, searching for the warmth you’ve grown accustomed to every single morning that week. When you didn’t find what you were searching for, you opened your eyes and sat up, looking around. You were wrapped in your Scooby-Doo blanket, and Kouga lying next to you; where Kuwabara should have been. Normally you would be in your sleeping bag, however for the past week you ended up sleeping with Kuwabara. His spiritual awareness seemed to have grown stronger which even though it was a good thing was in turn bad for his sleep. It was causing his problems with spirit visitations to be more frequent and more frightening. His cries would wake you from your sleep. You would comfort him until he would fall asleep; though you wouldn’t be too far behind.

Hence, you would wake up with your left hand in his hair and you’re right on his chest, your neck tucked under his chin. However, you would also find his left hand on top of yours, while his right arm wrapped around you pulling you close to his body in a protective manner. After the first several times finding your selves in this position, you both would blush and move away from each other. It normally lead to an awkward silence that would only be broken by either you making a remark or Kuwabara saying something funny. However, as the nightmares grew worse for Kuwabara and you kept ending up in Kuwabara’s bed, you found your-self-looking forward to the nights. You felt safe in his arms and seemed to sleep better knowing that nothing could harm you in those nice strong arms of his. Sure, you were the one who were being the protector by comforting him from his ‘demons�Eof the night', but it seemed that he was in turn protecting you from them as well.

You wrapped your blanket around your body, as it was cold in his room from the spirits. You sat there on Kuwabara’s bed trying to figure out why he wasn’t sleeping next to you. It didn’t take you too long to remember the conversation you had the night before and how he decided to visit Genkai to help him out with his growing spiritual awareness. You sat there taking in a deep breath and letting it out. You were going to be by your self for the day, which was all right with you. Even though you enjoyed Kuwabara’s company and being with him almost every single minute of everyday; there was such a thing as “personal space�Eamp;#39; or even better '�EYFN) time�Eamp;#39;. You hadn’t had a day to your self in a long while; even back at home, you hadn’t had a day to your self in months.

At the thought of getting some personal time to your self, you seemed to be energized. You were happy that it was Saturday, since it was only a half a day at school meaning you really didn’t have to go in. You sat on the bed, still wrapped in your blanket, and subconsciously brought Koga up into a hug. You were deep in thought, trying to figure out what you wanted to do that involved peace and quiet. However, your brain reminded you of what was to come; the four saint beasts were soon and that meant you wouldn’t get a break until after the Dark Tournament, not to mention you didn’t know too much about the Chapter Black saga to know if you would even get another break. You had to get prepared, and even more so ready to fight.

You had dreamed of helping out Yusuke and the rest of the gang in their missions and getting to defeat some demons and save the world. With all of this in mind, you decided that the best way to spend your ‘personal day�Eamp;#39;; was to train your self, or really see how rusty you were. It had been a long time since you had fought, though the thugs you had beaten up, not too long ago didn’t count. You really needed to practice your singing fighting style, a style that you had developed while taking karate. You found that you weren’t getting the kind of results you wanted when sparring against someone.

After loosing a fight against a boy who was the same belt level as you, you had decided to step your game up a notch. You tried meditation, yoga, and even watched many Jackie Chan movies. Nothing you did, the traditional way that is, helped develop your fighting skills. Your little brother had helped you discover your technique. He couldn’t stand you singing, not that you didn’t have a good voice, nothing like that. He just didn’t want to hear his older sister singing “Simple and Clean�Eamp;quot;; from Kingdom Hearts, twenty or more times. He barged into your room, where you were singing and dancing; however, you weren’t really dancing but performing a few karate stances from that day’s lesson. You had your headphones on and when he came over to you, he accidentally was kicked in the stomach by a front kick. You had your eyes closed at the time and opened them to find your brother, who was not only taller then you but stronger then you, on the floor gasping for air.

It was then that you discovered the power of your voice. From then on, you would sing as you trained or even during a match. Your favorite way to train with while singing was with a staff, or bo; making it your weapon of choice other then a sword, but you still found the staff as an interesting and fun weapon to use. As your thoughts wondered, you noticed the window was closed.

‘It’s kind of stuffy in here. I’ll open the window, let some air in here.�Eamp;#39; You thought. You got off the bed and towards the sliding window, opening it.

You closed your eyes and took in a deep refreshing breath, the nice early spring breeze feeling nice against your face. You felt something else touch your face and opened your eyes to find Kuwabara’s curtains were also blowing in the wind along with your hair; though gently. They were plain as curtains could be, being an extremely white color.

An idea came to mind as you turned your head upwards towards the rod that held the curtains in place. You wrinkled your forehead in thought as your lips pursed together. A full blown grin came soon afterward as you turned to climb on top of the bed, which was just close enough to the window where you could reach the rod. Your brain wasn’t really thinking, as you reached towards the curtains, standing on your tiptoes as you reached for the rod. As soon as you grabbed the rod, both of your feet slipped off the bed. Your eyes widened as you gave a surprised yelp, grabbing on to the rod as an automatic reaction. However, the rod wasn’t bolted into the wall and you fell, head first to the ground, rod still in hand. You gave a muffled ‘ow�ws' you lay on the ground with your toes still on the edge of the bed, the rod in your hands in front of you, and your head and upper part of your body flat on the floor. You shook your head as you sat on your knees, placing your hand to the back of your head. ‘Well I’m not doing that again.

'If Kuwabara wants them back up he can do it him self.�Eamp;#39; you thought, standing up with the rod in your right hand. You looked at the rod, which still held the curtains. You found the rod to be a decent length and slid off the curtain. It looked to be three feet long. You gently took off the curtains before you spun it in your hands. You found that it made a nice swishing sound. You spun it in your right hand and had it stop under your left armpit. A grin crossed your lips. It had been a long time since you trained with a staff like object; last time you had used a broom and that was a few months earlier back at home.

Your smile escaped your lips and you closed your eyes, taking a moment to remember your mother, your two best friends, a few normal (if they could be called that) friends, and even your little annoying brother. You missed them, all of them. You wondered if they missed you, did they even know you were gone, and how long have you been away back in your reality? You have thought these and many more questions over a hundred times before, and each time your heart seemed to tighten a bit more. You shook your head before opening your eyes. You didn’t want to think about it, knowing that you had better things to worry about, such as training.

“Now, what song should I sing?�Eamp;rdquo; you thought aloud to your self.

Scene Change....

It had been several days since Hiei was defeated by that rookie detective of the Underworld, Urameshi Yusuke. Hiei had escaped being captured, waking up alone in the warehouse. Apparently, the officers of the Underworld thought he would be out longer then he had.

‘Bakas. They should have arrested me when they had the chance. No matter, I won’t let them have another.�Eamp;#39; Hiei thought as he continued his way towards Kurama’s house.*1

He had been greatly injured by the rookie detective, but nothing a few days of rest couldn’t take care of. Now with his injuries healed, he headed towards the one who had cost him the fight, Kurama. If the fox hadn’t thrown his blood into Hiei’s Jagan, he would have had the city under his control, not to mention a dead Underworld Detective.*2

As Hiei moved from treetop to treetop, he couldn’t help but hear something. It was something pleasant to his ears and it was coming from one of the houses.

‘I should see what that is. Kurama wouldn’t be stupid enough to turn himself in before talking to me first. I’ve known him long enough to know that much. He’ll have to wait.�Eamp;#39;

Hiei jumped on the tree branch that was closest to the open window, where the beautiful and enchanting sound was coming from. He looked in and was amazed at what he saw. A girl, who was his height, was displaying an excellent skill with a rod, using it as if it were a staff. You were singing as you were moving. He became intrigued by your movements and your voice. He just sat on the branch and watched as you practiced.

You smirked as the perfect song came to your mind and began to sing as you started to train.

-------Singing begins---------

Going in a crowd, in a faceless town (jab, block, kick)

I need to feel the touch of a friend (turn, jab, duck, and jump)

In the countryside, I wander far and wide (block, sweep leg)

The isolation gets me again (double jab with pole and kick)

I don’t know where to go (move to the right and turn)

When I feel like crying oh my (low strike with pole)

It’s time to open my self, do something new (side kick and then round house kick)

I want to stop and grow up again (block and then jab with pole)

Then suddenly, my power and confidence, that swelling up magically erupt (backwards flip and kick, and then a block with the pole)

And it’s all because of the kindness that I feel (spinning back kick and then a lung forward with pole)

From people I don’t even know (spin and block with pole)

Then suddenly, my intuition and my wisdom grow, and then I know (front kick, jab, block, and spin)
But most of all a sense of compassion feeling from strangers where ever I go (jab, block, kick, and jump kick)

Thank you for waking me up. (Jab and pose)

You stood there, a little out of breath. It had been a while since you had practiced, so it was no wonder you were out of breath and a bit thirsty. You held the rod under your left armpit as you wiped away the small amount of sweat that formed on your forehead. You started towards the door, going to get a drink and cool down a bit.

“Not bad for an onna nekia.�Eamp;#39;*3

You stopped. That voice sounded familiar to you, though you couldn’t seem to place where. It was at this time you sensed a dangerously strong, yet tortured aura, coming from behind you. You turned and had your eyes widen in surprise to find a black blur coming straight at you. You didn’t have time to think as you raised the rod from under your armpit to just block a strike that would have taken your head off, if the sword were un-sheathed that is. You struggled to hold back the katanna*4 with your rod. It was then that you noticed who your attacker was and gasped.

‘Hiei? But�E..how? I thought he was captured already by Yusuke?�Eamp;#39; you thought.

He was the same size as you, maybe a bit taller with his hair, but you were eye to eye with him, able to see is piercing red eyes.

‘Man everything is bigger here, I thought Hiei was much shorter then this.�Eamp;#39; You thought.

‘What?�Eamp;#39; you thought as you noticed he fighting you with his katanna still sheathed.

‘It seems he doesn’t want to hurt me, at least, but wants to spar! This is so awesome! I’m actually sparing with Hiei! My second favorite character! Oh my God, this rocks!�Eamp;#39; You thought.

You would have grinned at this, if you weren’t struggling with holding back Hiei. He didn’t even seem to be breaking a sweat as he held you back. He smirked at you as he used a little more of his strength to push you back a bit. You grunted as you held your ground; never having too much arm strength. You knew if you didn’t do something soon, you would easily be beaten. With that thought, you swung your leg, trying to knock him off his feet. He jumped back, causing you to stumble a bit, from the force you were using to hold Hiei’s attack back with. Hiei ran at you again, his sheathed katanna coming at you again. You pared his attack towards your head, and took a step backwards.

He lunged forward, but you blocked again with your rod. He continued to come at you, causing you to move backwards, still blocking his attacks. You knew that if you continued the way you were, you would end up being backed into the wall. You had to take the offensive. As Hiei went for another lunge, instead of blocking you did a turn to the left. Hiei stood there for a second, before turning to find your rod coming to his head. He brought his sword up to block. You brought the rod back before lunging. Hiei seemed to vanish before your eyes, as the rod went through his after image. You stumbled a bit and straightened your self up, trying to pin point him as he began to move all around you. You watched as his after image appeared around you. You stood there, rod gripped in your hand as you waited for Hiei to make his attack.

Your eyes widened as he came behind you. You ducked and did a low spinning sweep. Hiei was caught off guard and lost his footing, though he was still on his feet, having taken a step to the side. He looked down just in time to see you standing up, your rod in both hands, ready to jab into his gut. Hiei jumped back, away from the attack, leaving you standing there a bit out of breath. The two of you had a moment just to stare down each other. Hiei began to look a bit aggravated.

‘How the hell, can two human’s keep up with my attacks and speed?!�Eamp;#39; Hiei growled in his mind.

He growled and came towards you, un-sheathing his sword. Your eyes widened, finding that Hiei was getting serious. You yelped and jumped back as he slashed his sword downwards. If you didn’t move, you would have had a nice long slash from your right shoulder to your left side! He jumped towards you again, clanking and sparks flying as his sword clanked with your metal rod.

You held your ground as the two of you were locked in another struggle with your weapons, your faces close together; close enough to touch noses. You closed your eyes and grunted as you pushed forward; giving you, enough space and time to do a spinning back kick; though Hiei vanished again. You gasped as he was at your side, ready to slice you; however, in another automatic move, you grabbed his right arm with your left hand, shocking the fire demon. Before he could do anything, you pulled him, taking a step backwards and with the rod brought it up towards his neck, while your left leg, which had taken the step backwards, moved behind his legs as you pushed him to the floor, pinning him. Hiei looked up at you shocked, as you looked down at him equally shocked.

However, you didn’t have enough time to celebrate, as he grabbed your arm with his free hand and flipped you over, causing you to let go of the hand that had his katanna; pinning you to the ground with his katanna at your throat. You gulped as he looked down at you with a smirk on his lips. Before anything else could happen, you gripped the rod in your hand and swung it forward, hitting Hiei’s katanna. In surprise, Hiei let go of his katanna, sending it flying into the opposite side of the room, landing in Kuwabara’s wall, just missing a poster of Megalica; Kuwabara’s favorite band. Your eyes widened as all your blood seemed to leave your body.

“OH SHIT! I AM SO DEAD!�Eamp;rdquo; you shouted as with strength you didn’t even know you had; shoved a surprise Hiei off and ran towards the new addition to Kuwabara’s room.

“Kuwabara’s gonna kill me!�Eamp;rdquo; You pulled at your hair, completely forgetting about the fire demon that was watching you with an aggravated expression on his face.

“Crap! Crap! Crap! Crap! Crap! Crap! What am I going to do! He’s probably coming home tonight! What am I going to do! Think, think, think, think, think, ow!�Eamp;rdquo; you said, having hit your self with the rod on every ‘think�Eamp;#39;; the last one being a bit too hard.

Hiei was off to the side, watching. At first, he looked on in shock.

‘How dare this human walk away and ignore me..' He thought. However, he smirked as he watched you ‘think�Eamp;#39;; too hard on your head. He raised an eyebrow when a smile appeared on your face soon after that last ‘think�Eamp;#39;.

“That’s it!�Eamp;rdquo; you shouted, that last hit seeming to give you an idea.

Hiei watched you with a sweat drop. You had seemed to have forgotten he was still in the room and even more aggravating, you ran out of the room, leaving Kuwabara’s door wide open. He sighed and took his sword out of the wall. He sheathed it as he walked towards the window to leave. Before he left, he gave one last look into the room and made a half smile half smirk, but it only appeared for a few seconds before he left.

Two weeks later, you were getting ready to leave with Kuwabara and Yusuke to the arcade. Kuwabara never found out about the little ‘incident�Eamp;#39; that took place in his room, since you had solved the problem. You had fixed the hole in his wall, but it had took the rest of the day to figure out you were still in your pjs. By that time, you had to find enough money to buy supplies. It took just as long to find a hardware store and fix up the hole to where it looked to have never happened. By the time you had finished, it was eight o’clock that evening; having woken up at eleven in the morning.

It was lucky for you that Kuwabara had slept over Genkai’s that night; his sister as well, having gone to pick him up and decided to reminisce with Genkai. The next day, Kuwabara was brought home, and was in bed for almost a week. He was severally injured from the demon, Rando, who was defeated by Yusuke. It took the week for his injuries to heal, which to his doctor’s amazement, was faster then normal.

Once Kuwabara was better, he spent the remainder of that week and the next to train with his new power; his spirit sword. He told you about the tournament and how he would have beaten Rando if he didn’t use that shrinking spell on him. He was happy that he was able to place third in her tournament, though still wished he could have gotten to duke it out with Urameshi�E However, with his new power, Kuwabara was even more determined to beat his arch rival; training vigorously in his backyard everyday, before and after school. You helped him work on his technique, even gave suggestions on what to do. It was amazing at how diligent he trained and how fast he had progressed in little then two weeks time.

Kuwabara became stronger. What really made you happy for Kuwabara was his daily haunting weren’t so daily anymore, but was gradually growing less as he trained more. When you asked him how he was able to get rid of the spirits, Kuwabara told you that they were still there, but because of his growing new abilities, they didn’t want to mess with him. Genkai had told him, after he finally was able to ask her for help, that if his spiritual powers grew then they would back off. No more problems sleeping; though you did miss snuggling to him. You really had enjoyed sleeping with him; however, you decided it was better that way. Now, two weeks later, Yusuke was back from Genka’s training and ready for a little r and r with his new friend, Kuwabara; though he wouldn’t admit it, and you.

“So your arms okay now?�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke asked, taking a glance towards Kuwabara as you all walked.

You were on Kuwabara’s left and Yusuke to his right. Yusuke was wearing black pants and a white button down shirt, his hair styled up as he normally had it. Kuwabara wore his school uniform, having a half-day; it being Saturday. You wore the girl uniform, but had brought a change of clothes with you to school; only wearing the shirt part of the uniform. You wore navy blue hip hugger pants with a black belt with a fancy looking buckle in the front.

“Good as new. And my muscles are in better shape then ever.�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara said, grinning and flexing his muscles.

“The doctors were amazed. Guess that’s what Reiki can do for you. Care for a personal demonstration?�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara asked, with a gleam in his eye.

You couldn’t help but smile and suppress a giggle from his look.

‘Kuwabara always ready for a fight.�Eamp;#39; You thought, shaking your head.

“Naw wouldn’t want you to get messed up again.�Eamp;rdquo; replied Yusuke.

“So how’d your training with Genkai go? You don’t look any different.�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara asked.

Yusuke’s face winced at just thinking about the Hells Genkai made him go through the past two weeks he was with her.

“It was no picnic, let me tell you.�Eamp;quot; Yusuke started to remember all of his training, telling you and all about it.

“…and I meditated on top of burning coals, and slept on a bed of nails�E..” Yusuke said, looking up as he counted on his figures, already having his right hand full.

Both you and Kuwabara shuttered at the ‘horrors' Yusuke had been through.

“Sure, enough already. Makes me cringe just hearing about it.�Eamp;rdquo; Said Kuwabara.

You looked a little green around the gills, but were fine.

“You are probably tired after all of that.” Kuwabara added.

Yusuke shrugged.

“Not really�E but I still learned some cool stuff.�Eamp;rdquo;

“Anything you can show us?�Eamp;rdquo; asked Kuwabara, wanting to know how much Yusuke had improved since the last time they saw each other.

“Hey.�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke said, a serious look crossing his face.

You had noticed something as well, as if you had been being followed. Kuwabara glanced at Yusuke.

“Hm?�Eamp;rdquo;

“We’re being followed.�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke said, glancing behind him.

“Yeah I felt them too.�Eamp;rdquo; You said, glancing backwards.

You all glanced back to see a group of thugs following you, though there seemed to be something odd about them.

“Never seen ‘em before. Wanna take ‘em on?�Eamp;rdquo; said Yusuke, with a glint in his eyes and a smile on his lips.

“Sure, I got nuthin�Eamp;#39; better to do. Might be fun.�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara answered, with the same amount of excitement as Yusuke expressed.

“I’ve been waiting to practice.�Eamp;rdquo; You said, a small glint in your eyes a well.

This earned you a look from the two, both raising their eyebrow at you.

“What?�Eamp;rdquo; you asked.

They looked at each other and decided to leave it alone; shrugging their shoulders.

“You guys know who yer comin�Eamp;#39; yup against?�Eamp;rdquo; asked Kuwabara.

You were all standing in a clearing, away from any innocent by-standers.

“I’m Kuwabara the big muscle at Sara Jr. High.�Eamp;rdquo; He said, with a huge grin on his face and pointing to himself.

Yusuke looked at him.

“Yeah, you wish.�Eamp;rdquo;

“And what does that make me?�Eamp;rdquo; you said.

“Well�E" thought Kuwabara, scratching the back of his head.

Before he could finish, the ‘bad guys�Eamp;#39; pulled out switchblades. You all looked shocked at this moment.

“Aw man, they’re whacked out! They’re pulling shivs already!�Eamp;rdquo; said Kuwabara.

“What?�Eamp;rdquo; you said surprised Kuwabara knew some jail term speak.

Kuwabara didn’t hear you, since the ‘bad guys�Eamp;#39; started to say “Kill' repeatedly. They all started to stalk over, coming towards you all with a craze look on their faces; continuing to chant ‘kill�Eamp;#39; and/or ‘die�Eamp;#39;. Yusuke looked a bit freaked.

“Cripers! Never seen a buncha guys this out of it!”

It was at this point the group of thugs came rushing towards the three of you, knives out and screaming.

“Can’t mess around then.�Eamp;rdquo;

His right hand, which is now a fist, started to glow and make a noise that sounded like something powering up. Kuwabara’s eyes widened.

“Yeow! His fists�Eglowing!�Eamp;rdquo;

“I’ll put ya down easy!�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke said, his fist glowing brighter.

As the thugs jumped towards you all, Yusuke shot his fist forward, making several glowing bullet like energies shoot out of his fist and towards the thugs, hitting them all at once; knocking them to the floor out cold.

“Wow! You mowed ‘em down without laying a hand on ‘em! Like you had a machine gun!�Eamp;rdquo; said Kuwabara.

“I think that was a machine gun! Geeze Yusuke!�Eamp;rdquo; you said in awe. Yusuke smiled.

“Just basic reiki technique.�Elt;/font>*5”

You all approached the unconscious thugs, looking down at them.

“So who are these jerks?�Eamp;rdquo; asked Yusuke.

“No idea...�wait a sec!�Eamp;rdquo; said Kuwabara.

You glanced at Kuwabara, who seemed to be concentrating. You felt a strange energy vibe not too far, from where you guys stood.

“I sense a weird aura�Enot no how human�E” said Kuwabara. You nodded.

“Yeah, it’s not anything I’ve sensed.�Eamp;rdquo; You said.

You both began to look around, when a figure in the shadows was seen; wearing a long trench coat and hat that covered their face. Both you and Kuwabara pointed at the figure, which jumped.

“Over there! That guy!�Eamp;rdquo; you both shouted.

“Freeze buster!�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara shouted as he started towards the figure, which seemed to freak out at being discovered before taking off.

You and Yusuke followed behind Kuwabara, but didn’t go too far before the figure fell over, legs up in the air and twitching a bit. All three of you stopped and looked at what was a demon; the hat having fallen off, on the ground with swirly eyes.

“Hah! Hit a perfect grounder that time.�Eamp;rdquo;

You all turned to the voice, finding a blue hair girl holding a bat on her shoulder. She wore jeans and a white sleeveless t-shirt, her dark pink eyes looking at you all as she smiled. Yusuke looked shocked.

“Botan!�Eamp;rdquo;

Kuwabara looked at her.

‘Her again! Cute�E but dangerous.” Kuwabara thought as he looked at her with a surprised expression.

You glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. You all ran up to Botan, who seemed to not notice you and Kuwabara.

“You know this weirdo?�Eamp;rdquo; asked Yusuke, pointing to the demon whose mouth was open with a little blood in the corner; his eyes still swirling.

“Yep.�Eamp;rdquo; Said Botan.

“He’s a resident of Demon City, which as it happens, is the subject of your new mission.�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke looked confused

“Demon City?�Eamp;rdquo;

“It’s a haven for other world out laws. A group of demons known as the “Four Saint Beasts�Elt;/b>” founded a criminal organization that hid out there. Some other fugitive felons fled to it, turning it into an impenetrable city of criminals. They’re now issuing demands to the Underworld.�Eamp;quot; she said.

“Demands? Such as�E.?" said Yusuke.

“Access to the human world!�Eamp;rdquo;

You all looked at her shocked.

“The Underworld set up a force field between Demon City and the human world to prevent such access. But the demons want it taken down.�Eamp;quot; She continued.

Yusuke folded his hands across his chest in a defiant manner.

“Who cares what they want? Ignore ‘em!�Eamp;rdquo;

“It’s not that simple�E" said Botan.

“See that guy who attacked you?�Eamp;rdquo; She pointed to the human guys on the ground.

You all turned to look at the thugs, who were still unconscious. Your eyes, as well as the guys, widened and gasped as a bug crawled out of one of the thugs open mouths.

“Lech! That creepo bug crawled out of his mouth." said Yusuke, a sick look on his face; which matched the one you and Kuwabara wore.

“It’s a round worm monster- a parasite drawn to gloomy souls. The people they infest are driven to violence, destruction and murder. The Four Saint Beasts released thousands of them into this city.�Eamp;rdquo; Botan explained.

Yusuke freaked.

“What?! We’ve gotta warn everyone!�Eamp;rdquo; he shouted.

“Pointless I’m afraid�E" said Botan

“Normal people can’t see the worms�Eand those infected just seem psycho. The only course is to exterminate the worms! And that means destroying the Enabling Whistle.�Eamp;rdquo;

“A �whistle?�Eamp;rdquo; asked Yusuke confused.

“Yes. Normally the worms can’t survive in the human world, but this whistle enables them to do so. The Four Saint Beasts say they’ll hand over the whistle if we take down the force field�E But that’s out of the question.�Eamp;rdquo;

“What do you mean?�Eamp;rdquo; asks Yusuke, not understand what she meant by that.

“If unleashed, the demons could kill everyone here in a day!�Eamp;rdquo;

“Okay, then the only way to do it�Eamp;quot; Yusuke started.

“Exactly! We must take the whistle and destroy it!�Eamp;rdquo; Botan said.

Yusuke glared at Botan.

“‘We�Elt;/b>' meaning me, right? I have to jump into that nest of demon vermin by myself!�Eamp;rdquo;

“So what am I, snake spit?�Eamp;rdquo; asked Kuwabara, with his arms folded across his chest.

“Don’t forget about me!�Eamp;rdquo; you said.

Botan turned to look at you two, now noticing that you were even there, and were listening that whole time.

“OH MY GOD! Kuwabara, (YFN)-chan, you were listening?�Eamp;rdquo;

“Like we could help it?�Eamp;rdquo; said Kuwabara.

“Anyway, I can see these worms too, so I figure I’m in this. We grab their whistle thing, or this town will wind up crawlin�Eamp;#39; with crazed dudes, right?�Eamp;rdquo; said Kuwabara.

Botan nodded.

“Well, that’s settled! Let’s go there!�Eamp;quot; you said.

Before you all left, however, you noticed a three-foot long rod on the ground.

‘Perfect.�Eamp;#39; You thought and slid it into the lose belt you were wearing, before running off to follow Yusuke and Kuwabara.

Two hours later; after making a quick stop at Yusuke’s house for a quick change into his green school uniform and stopping at Kuwabara’s house for you to change your top to a brown t-shirt that had a light brown design with the logo Blinked 187 in gold in the front; you, Yusuke, and Kuwabara were at the enemy base.

“So that’s their hide out.�Eamp;rdquo; Stated Yusuke, looking at the over sized castle. You all started walking over to it.

“You sure you guys wanna come? You may not get away with just a few broken bones this time, Kuwabara, while you might get seriously hurt, (YFN).�Eamp;rdquo; said Yusuke.

“I’m not leaving it all up to you to save our town.�Eamp;rdquo; said Kuwabara.

“And I can handle myself, thank you very much. Besides, I need a little action anyway.�Eamp;rdquo; You said.

Just then, you all heard laughing. The three of you looked around and found that you had managed to become surrounded by small imp looking demons in cloaks.

“Fragrant�Eamp;rdquo; one of the imps shouted.

“Humans. Hee hee. Fragrant humans!�Eamp;quot; shouted another.

You, Yusuke, and Kuwabara got into fighting positions. You took out the rod that was hidden under the shirt, but still in the belt. Kuwabara looked at it.

“Where’d ya get that?�Eamp;rdquo;

“I’ve had it for a while.�Eamp;rdquo; you said, giving it a spin.

“A feast! A feast! Hee hee hee! Let’s eat!�Eamp;rdquo; said one of the cloaked demons.

One of the demons jumped at you, which you knocked away with your rod. This had caused a fight to break out.

“Scum balls!�Eamp;rdquo; shouted Yusuke, as he charged into a group of imps, striking them with his fists.

“They keep coming!�Eamp;rdquo; said Kuwabara, punching one.

“They won’t stop, like the energizer bunny!�Eamp;rdquo; you said, whacking a few more of the little buggers with your rod.

Everyone stopped to look at you as if you were weird, but were back to fighting. Yusuke continued to punch his way through the crowd of imps, while Kuwabara kicked, punched, and knocked them away. You used your rod, jumping into the air and kicking as they continued to come at you. Somehow, they had backed you all into a corner, all back to back to back; surround by the imps. You were all a bit out of breath.

“They’re like ants! Too many of ‘em!�Eamp;rdquo; yelled Yusuke.

“They’ll overwhelm us!�Eamp;rdquo; shouted Kuwabara.

“Hey! If you’re having trouble with these low life’s, how do you expect to tackle the castle?�Eamp;rdquo; came a voice from one of the cloaked imps.

You all looked around to find out which one had said that. However, instead of finding the one who said it; you saw most of the gang of imps on the ground. You all looked around because they were all around you on the ground, except for two; one taller then the other.

You, Yusuke, and Kuwabara just stood there, amazed.

“The three of you alone wouldn’t get very far anyway.�Eamp;rdquo; Said the taller one.

Yusuke was stunned and glad as two removed their cloaks revealing none other then Hiei and Kurama!

“Where’d you come from!�Eamp;rdquo; said a dumbfounded Yusuke.

“What the heck�E" said a very confused Kuwabara.

You looked at Hiei, who snorted and seemed to look everywhere but at you; which caused you to smile and shake your head.

“Kurama and�EHiei!�Eamp;rdquo; shouted Yusuke.

“What’re you two doing here!�Eamp;rdquo;

“Heh�E community service in lieu of jail time, you might say.�Eamp;rdquo; said Kurama.

“We might even get pardons if we help you three out.�Eamp;rdquo; He glanced at you, finding you a bit interesting, especially since you weren’t all over him or drooling.

“Good ol�Eamp;#39; Koenma, unpredictable as ever!�Eamp;rdquo; shouted Yusuke, with a big grin on his face.

“Kuwabara, (YFN), allow me to introduce Hiei and Kurama..�Eamp;rdquo;

“Yo�E" said Kuwabara.

“Hi�Eamp;rdquo; said Kurama.

“Nice to meet you Kurama and nice to see you again Hiei, at least I know your name now.�Eamp;rdquo; You said.

You couldn’t help it, you were interested to see how he would react, let alone how the rest of the guys would. Yusuke and Kuwabara looked dumbfounded at you; however, it seemed that Kurama knew about the incident, since he wasn’t shocked at all.

‘They must have been best friends even in the beginning of the anime.�Eamp;#39; You thought.

“You know this shrimp?�Eamp;rdquo; asked Kuwabara.

“Yeah, I’ll tell ya later, though, right now we have more important things to do.�Eamp;rdquo; you said, noticing the death glare Hiei was sending your way.

You gave him an innocent smile.

‘That’s for almost getting me in trouble.�Eamp;#39; You thought.

“You got Kurama’s angle, but here’s mine. I’m out to snatch the treasures and weapons the Four Saint Beasts beat me to. So don’t expect any help for me, got it?�Eamp;rdquo; said Hiei, changing the subject.

Kuwabara, not trusting Hiei after hearing that statement, and not liking the fact that you knew him and never even mentioned anything to him about meeting a new person, began to dislike the fire demon.

“What’s with the shrimp? He is coppin�Eamp;#39; a pretty high and mighty attitude?�Eamp;rdquo; Hiei looked at Kuwabara

“Does a death wish cause you to speak that way to me?�Eamp;rdquo; Hiei asked.

Kuwabara got in Hiei’s face

“You don’t like it, runt? Tough toenails!�Eamp;rdquo;

You sighed.

“Stop it Hiei. We can squabble after this is finished.�Eamp;rdquo; Kurama said.

Hiei looked over to Yusuke, ignoring Kuwabara who was still in his face.

“Yusuke, I still have a score to settle with you.�Eamp;rdquo;

“Don’t forget me, short stuff.�Eamp;rdquo; said Kuwabara.

You sighed again and put your hand to your face. It was times like these you felt embarrassed for him. Hiei ignored him.

“I’ll warn you once: watch your back.�Eamp;rdquo; Hiei said.

Yusuke looked at Hiei with a big grin.

“Yeah, whatever. Frankly, I’ll take any allies I can get.” Yusuke said.

“Welcome to the team!�Eamp;rdquo; you said.

This was one of your favorite sagas out of all the ones you had seen. You had missed a lot of this saga, but that didn’t stop you from loving it. Kurama just smiled and nodded. The crew of five started to walk towards the entrance of the castle. All of the imps who were left standing started to scurry away from the group who now had two of spirit world’s most wanted demons, who were now siding with three humans.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the castle, the Four Saint Beasts were discussing their intruders.

“It appears the Underworld has refused our demands and resorted to force.�Eamp;rdquo; says a a demon.

“It’s been a while sine we’ve had visitors.�Eamp;rdquo; says Genbu

“Hmph.�Eamp;rdquo; said Byakko. “They hardly seem worth bothering about.�Eamp;rdquo;

“What should we do, master Suzaku?" asks Seiryu, Suzaku’s most loyal beast out of the other two.

“Byakko is right�E This hodgepodge band like that isn’t worth the bother. They cannot hope to breach our walls. They’ll just die at the gate of betrayal.�Eamp;rdquo; said Suzaku, with a sinister laugh.

Back with you guys....

By this time, you all had reached the entrance, which looked like a mouth.

“That’s some entrance!�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke said, looking in.

“A long, dark tunnel. Brrr�E." said Kuwabara, shivering a little.

“What? Are you afraid of the dark Kuwabara?�Eamp;rdquo; you asked, a smirk on your lips.

“NO! Just shut up (YFN)-san! I don’t mean it like that! It just�Egives off a weird vibe is all.�Eamp;rdquo;'

You just gave him a smile. “OK, whatever you say�Elt;/font> 'scaridy cat'�E” you said.

“What was that, (YFN)-san?!�Eamp;rdquo; said Kuwabara. You were just having too much fun.

“What? I didn’t say anything.�Eamp;rdquo; you said innocently.

Yusuke smirked.

“As much fun as it is to make fun of Kuwabara, why don’t we enter?�Eamp;rdquo;

Kuwabara gave Yusuke a glare.

“I’ll show you something funny Urameshi!�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara rolled up his sleeves.

“Why don’t you use that anger towards the Four Saint Beasts?�Eamp;rdquo; Kurama said with a sigh.

Kuwabara calmed down

“Fine�E..I'll get you later, Urameshi.�Eamp;rdquo;

You hadn’t noticed the smirk that appeared just as fast as it disappeared on Hiei’s face; though Kurama had noticed. He made a note to inquire about it later. You began to walk into the tunnel. You walked a bit behind the group, though it wasn’t your fault being behind them. They had all seemed to enter the tunnel in front of you. You didn’t know they did it on purpose, thinking if they were in front of you, they could keep you out of harms way. You all continued to walk, you shivering a bit. Kuwabara was right, the tunnel did hold a weird vibe to it. You looked ahead, past the four in front of you and looked at the exit. You were only several feet before exiting the tunnel when an eyeball with wings and tentacles appeared in front of the exit. Everyone stopped and took a defensive position.

“Welcome to Labyrinth Castle. Those who dare to enter will be tried at the gate of betrayal.�Eamp;rdquo; It spoke.

Yusuke did not likely the sound of that.

“Tried!�Eamp;rdquo; he shouted.

You saw the eyeball fly off to the wall that was behind him; in clear view for all of you to see. An opening in the wall revealed a level. With one of his tentacles, he pulled the lever. A rumble was heard as the floor beneath you began to shake.

“The ceiling’s dropping!�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke shouted, as you all looked up.

It was the last thing said before the ceiling came crashing down on all of you. You all raised your hands, trying to hold the ceiling up; seeming to do a good job, but it was still hard. It was a strain to hold up that heavy rock. Your arms were not too powerful. You had more power in your legs then your arms. If you could, you would have used your legs, however there was no time to switch positions now.

“The gate is keenly sensitive, quite smart, and very wicked. It analyzes the strength of each person and applies the exact amount of pressure that he or she can tolerate. If even one of you relaxes in the slightest- splat!�Eamp;quot; laughed the eyeball.

“Blast you..�arrrrr!�Eamp;rdquo; growls Yusuke, through clenched teeth.

The ceiling moved a bit, causing you all to grunt as you felt your selves being crushed by the ceiling. You slid your arms so the ceiling was more on your shoulders then your arms. Even though it helped, it wasn’t enough. You were still having a hard time holding up your part of the ceiling.

“If one of you tries to save him or her self by escaping, the others will be flattened. If none of you attempts a betrayal, you’ll all exhaust yourselves in this futile effort and die together. As you can see, only craven traitors may enter this castle. The choice is yours.�Eamp;rdquo; Continued the eyeball.

Kuwabara had sweat falling like a waterfall from his face.

“Keeripes! What a load of crap!�Eamp;rdquo; he gritted out threw his teeth.

Another grunt came from the group as the ceiling moved a half of an inch lower.

“Someone better have an idea and fast!�Eamp;rdquo; you growled out.

“I don’t know how much more I can take!" Sweat began to move down your face as you struggled to keep your self from collapsing.

The group took a glance back at you, realizing that they were in some real deep trouble if you were to collapse. Yusuke grunted as he held his ground. He looked back at the eyeball, trying to figure out something. His eyes blinked as he looked at the lever. He glanced at Hiei, who had a look of annoyance at being trapped.

“H-Hiei! You’re a lot faster than the rest of us! Run out and try to raise that lever by the eye guy!�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke shouted.

Hiei looked at Yusuke as if he was crazy.

“Are you outta yer mind, Urameshi! You go! You don’t wanna trust that little creep!�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara shouted, not trusting Hiei to take care of his kitten let alone their lives.

“So Mr. Flat Face is not a complete idiot after all.�Eamp;rdquo; Said Hiei.

“Mr. Fla�t face....are you talkin�Eamp;#39; bout me!�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara growled.

“Do you really want to trust me?�Eamp;rdquo; Hiei continued, ignoring Kuwabara.

“I can support your share of the weight for a second or two if I give it all I’ve got. Go Hiei!�Eamp;rdquo;

You were surprised as you felt the ceiling pressure begin to lessen just a bit. You looked to see Yusuke’s hands were glowing, as well as his whole body. Yusuke gave Hiei a smile as sweat poured down his face a rapid pace.

“Just don’t take too long, kay?�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke said.

Hiei was shocked, looking at him in disbelief. The ceiling moved another half an inch, making you grunt again. However, Yusuke powered up even more, the ceiling lighting up a little; but not enough.

“Please hurry Hiei.�Eamp;rdquo; You gritted out, your eyes closed as you tried to will your self from collapsing.

Hiei turned shocked red orbs to look at you. He could see how much you were struggling with your weight. He couldn’t believe how much faith you had in him.

“Has everybody lost it!�Eamp;rdquo; shouted Kuwabara, in disbelief. Hiei looked at him.

“The only one who ‘lost it' is you.�Eamp;rdquo; Hiei snorted before looking at the lever, his goal, before letting go of the ceiling and becoming a black blur.

Yusuke smiled before he turned his concentration back on the ceiling, which moved two inches from Hiei leaving. Yusuke’s body began to look like a light bulb as he used his energy to make up for Hiei’s weight. Sweat poured down his face as his body shook from the weight that was literally on his shoulders. Sweat poured down your face as you grunted from the weight movement.

Hiei reached the lever in a matter of seconds, his hand resting on the lever, ready to pull it. However he stopped, hesitating a bit. He turned back to look at all of you, his hand still on the lever. He looked at Kurama, Kuwabara, you, and Yusuke; who he kept his stare on. He could tell Yusuke was giving it his all; showing that he truly trusts him to save them all.

“What’re you waitin�Eamp;#39; for? Raise the lever!�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara growled out, sweat pouring his face as his hair started to get a little lose from its cocoon state.

“Think it over Lord Hiei. Leave them to their fate, and I will escort you to Master Suzaku. A criminal of your caliber will be given a hearty welcome by the Four Saint Beasts.�Eamp;rdquo; The eyeball said, leaning towards Hiei, whose hand still lay on the lever.

“Yo shorty! You’re gonna betray Urameshi’s trust just like that, let alone (YFN)-san’s?!�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara shouted.

Hiei looked at the two people who believed in him. Yusuke’s glowing body started to shake as the pressure of holding two people’s weight starting to get to him. Hiei turned his eyes from Yusuke to you; watching as you seemed to be giving it your all, your legs shaking like a leaf as your teeth and eyes were clenched in concentration. Sweat covering your face and arms. Hiei closed his eyes and turned his head away with a smirk on his lips, before he began to laugh. After his short laugh, his eyes snapped open.

“What a bunch of morons.�Eamp;rdquo; Hiei snorted.

Kurama looked at him, not seeming to be too worried. Kuwabara and Yusuke stared at him, both looking as if they were holding their breath. You kept your concentration on not collapsing, and tuned out everything that was happening around you.

“You have no idea!�Eamp;rdquo; Hiei said, turning towards the eyeball.

Hiei lunged at the beast and with one swipe of his katanna, he sliced the eye down the middle, though only giving the creature a skin-deep wound. It would live, but it was in much pain. As the eyeball screamed in pure agony, Hiei turned back to the lever and pulled it.

“It stopped!" said a surprised, yet relieved Yusuke, as the ceiling seemed to be lighter then air; not weighting down on you all.

“Tell your masters'�EI’ll spare their lives if they’ll submit to my will! They get one chance to beg for their lives! That’s it!�Eamp;rdquo; Hiei said.

The little eyeball flew off, scared. The ceiling began to move, going back to where it belonged. Yusuke let out a sigh of relief as his arms fell to his sides, sore. Kuwabara stumbled a bit, but was able to stand up straight. Kurama moved around a bit, a smile on his lips. You, were not so lucky, as you let your arms drop as you fell to your knees. You started to breathe heavily, your eyes still closed as you rested your hands on the ground.

‘That’s what I call a work out. Ok, I’m done for the rest of the year, exercise wise.�Eamp;#39; You thought.

“You okay, Urameshi?�Eamp;rdquo; asked Kuwabara. He saw Yusuke weak on his feet, as well as stretching his arms.

“Whoo! I’ll let ya know in a second!�Eamp;rdquo; he said moving his limbs, trying to get the stiffness out of them.

Kuwabara then turned to check on you, having been worried about how you would hold up with the amount of weight that was on you. This was when he found you on your hands and knees, eyes closed as you took steady breaths.

" �EYFN)-san!�Eamp;rdquo;Kuwabara shouted, running to you.

He knelt down in front of you, resting his hands on your shoulders.

“I’m ok, just need to rest for a bit, that’s all. That was the best workout I had in a long time. I’m not doing that for at least forever!�Eamp;rdquo; you said. Kuwabara let out a sigh of relief.

“I’m glad you didn’t collapse. If you did, we’d all be dead!�Eamp;rdquo; Kuwabara said with a hint that he was joking in his voice.

You playfully glared at him as you went to hit him. However, you were too tired and wobbled a bit. You would have fallen forward if Kuwabara didn’t have his hands on your shoulder. Kuwabara looked at you, concern in his eyes, as he looked at your tired face. You put your hands on his arms, trying to steady your self.

“Aren’t you going to help me up?�Eamp;rdquo; you asked, not wanting to worry anyone, though you were still a bit tired from your work out.

Kuwabara seemed to think about it for a moment before he took your hands and stood up, pulling you up. You stumbled a bit, falling into Kuwabara’s sweaty chest. You put your hands on his chest and pushed back, looking up at him, a slight tint of pink on your cheeks as he looked down at you with worry. Yusuke was now next to Hiei, not noticing the little scene behind him, though Kurama seemed to have an amused smirk playing on his lips.

“Good work, Hiei! Thanks!�Eamp;rdquo; He puts his arm around Hiei’s shoulder.

“You sure made us sweat with that imperious act of yours! You’re one supremely twisted guy, m’man.�Eamp;rdquo;

“Hmph�E” said Hiei, as he pushed Yusuke’s arm off of him and then pointed at him.

“I didn’t do it for your sake! This will go faster with back up.” He turned around.

“Besides, I didn’t want that baka onna to kill her self.�Eamp;rdquo;

He stated without turning around and started to walk off. You snapped out of your daze and turned around, your face red for a different reason. You missed the look that spread across Kuwabara’s face, though it was only a flash. Your eye started to twitch.

“What�E..did ...he�Ecall me?�Eamp;rdquo; you said, now wanting to take down a certain fire demon. Kuwabara took a step back, gulping at the look that you wore.

“Calm down (YFN)-san. You give me the creeps when you look like that.” Said Kuwabara having seen that look several times before.

Kurama smiled and turned to you and Yusuke.

“Heh�E in his own way he’s trying to say ‘your welcome�Eamp;rdquo;

After several calming deep breaths, you were calmed down. You knew it wouldn’t be a good idea to kill off Hiei since you still needed him for the rest of the mission, let alone the rest of the series. Kuwabara put his hand on your shoulder, causing you to look up at him.

“Let’s go.�Eamp;rdquo; He said.

You looked up at him and smile, and with a nod, followed behind the rest of the group who began to venture into the castle.

Meanwhile, further in the castle, the eyeball guy told his masters what happened and about Hiei’s threat.

“They’ve cleared the gate of betrayal�E" said one in disbelief.

“Hiei wants me to beg for my life�E" growled another, outraged at that thought.

“I Genbu, will make them all beg for theirs. Not that I’ll listen. Five fresh corpses, coming up!�Eamp;rdquo;

Back to you all....

“I see why this place is called Labyrinth Castle.�Eamp;rdquo; Said Kuwabara as you walked down hallway after hallway. “Find some stairs, that’ll take us up.�Eamp;rdquo; Said Yusuke.

“Big bosses like to hang out on top floors.�Eamp;rdquo;

Before you could ask Yusuke how he knew that, Botan’s voice came from Yusuke’s pocket.

“Yuskue, this is Botan! All’s quiet here in the human world, so far.�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke took out his compactor and opened it.

There on the screen was Botan.

“Check.�Eamp;rdquo; He said.

“At this point I’ve managed to nail fifteen round worm monsters.�Eamp;rdquo; Said Botan.

“Fifteen out of thousands�Edrop in the bucket. We gotta hurry and snatch that whistle.�Eamp;rdquo; Replied Yusuke

“Listen, there parasites only seek out and subdue sinister souls�Eand there don’t appear to be many like that around. Maybe there’s more hope for humanity than I thought.�Eamp;rdquo; Botan saw one of the bugs on the ground.

“Ah!�Eamp;rdquo; She then squished it with her foot.

“Got another one.�Eamp;rdquo; She said before she continued. “But this may just be the calm before the storm. So I agree-hurry!�Eamp;rdquo;

“Right�Eamp;rdquo; says Yusuke and signs off.

“Okay�E the city’s safe for now. Let’s move.�Eamp;rdquo; Said Yusuke, starting to move again.

He glanced at Kurama who was to his right. Hiei was to Kurama’s right, Kuwabara to Yusuke’s left, and you were lagging a bit behind Yusuke and Kuwabara.

“What do you know about those Four Saint Beast, Kurama? I mean, I have no idea what we’re about to face.�Eamp;rdquo; Yusuke asked.

“Well, as you may have gathered from the supreme measures the Underworld took to restrict them, they’re very dangerous. And they don’t look at all human, so brace your self for that.�Eamp;rdquo; Said Kurama, as you all came to a huge door that was closed.

“Such high praise. I blush.�Eamp;rdquo; Came a voice from behind that door.

Without another thought, Yusuke pushed through the door and barged in.

“This is one of them!�Eamp;rdquo; said Yusuke, as he stared at the beast in front of them.

It looked like a giant rock made up of smaller rocks to make a monster. It was huge with a tail and white fangs. The beast was hunched over, his arms hanging as if too heavy to lift them. He had spiked rocks on top of his head like a buzz cut, while his back looked more like a turtle’s shell at the shape it was. This was one of the Four Saint Beasts; Genbu the Rock Demon. You vaguely remembered this episode, having watched it a while ago. You did remember that he was a tough opponent and crafty; but no match for Kurama.

“Heh�E in deed it is. Welcome. I, Genbu, will take good care of you!�Eamp;rdquo; said Genbu.
