I'm so sorry that I took forever to update, but I was a little lazy. >A<
I also just couldn't think of anything to write to up date this chapter with. So~! this update will be super
short..... I'm sorry~ ;_; The hit factory brain isn't working right now.... But an update is an update.

Yukina didn't say anything when everyone came, Kurama and Sakura were of course off on their honeymoon and
couldn't be contacted. As the small party went on, Yukina fidgeted slightly and Kuwabara noticed. He said
gleefully "Yukina~! My love! What's wrong?" Yukina said softly, her voice the usual soft meek tone. It was also
a little hoarse from crying "It's Hiei-san I'm worried about Kuwabara-san." Everyone had grown quiet at the
mention of Hiei, wondering if the little fire demon had told Yukina just who her brother was. Kuwabara, the
only other one that didn't know bristled and said angrily, his voice unhappy that the little fire demon was
making his Yukina cry "What's the shrimp done now Yukina? I'll hurt him for making you cry!" Yukina, if anything, sobbed harder, causing more tear gems to clatter to the ground. Yusuke hit Kuwabara on the back of the head and said "Way to go Kuwabara!! You made her cry again!" While Yusuke and Kuwabara wrestled around, fighting each other, the girls focused on comforting Yukina.
An hour later when everything had calmed down, Yukina helped clean up the tear gems into a huge tin filled to
the brim with tear gems. Yukina had cried a lot lately and was filling up jars of her tear gems when she was done crying. When everything had calmed down, Yusuke said finally "So~ What's Hiei done now Yukina? Did he cause some kind of trouble? If worse comes to worse, we can call Kurama and have him come back. He's the only one that can reign Hi-" Yukina interrupted with a shout "NO! Kurama is not welcome here!" The whole group look stunned. What could Kurama, the most tactful, soft spoken of the group besides Yukina, have done to anger little Yukina? No one knew nor could they understand. Everyone sat in stunned silence. Yukina said, her voice shaking "If Kurama comes.....he will kill Hiei-san." At this statement Yusuke and Kuwabara burst out in to laughter. Yusuke said when he had stopped laughing and caught his breath "We are talking about Kurama right? Kurama is such good friends with Hiei that to say that Kurama would kill Hiei is ludicrous!" Yukina stood and said "He will kill Hiei. Please follow me."
Yukina led the group to the room where Hiei currently slept. She kneeled next to Hiei and after changing the
wash cloth on his forehead, she peeled back the blankets to expose the mark on Hiei's shoulder. The bite mark with the fox surrounding it protectively glowed faintly and Hiei stirred, but didn't wake up. She said "This mark is a mating mark. It's similar to a marriage for humans. However, most mating marks are permanent. Since demons like Kurama, myself and Hiei can live for hundreds of years, that means we remain mated to that one person for life." Yusuke blinked and said "So? What's that have to do with anything? Kurama and Hiei mated, big deal." Yukina shook her head and said "It's not that simple Yusuke-san. Some demons mate for the heating season, and then their done with each other after the spring is over. Fire demons are a special case. They mate for life. Hiei-san is tied to Kurama permanently. What's worse, is that it was not his choice." Kuwabara shrugged and said "So, what's that supposed to mean?" Yukina inhaled and said "When demon's mate, they have.....sex together and then they leave their mark. However, if the mark is not consensual and reciprocated, this forms" She carressed the fox surrounding the mark gently, earning a hiss of pain from Hiei. She was quiet as she let the stunned silence permeate the room.
After a few minutes, Yusuke said "So that means Kurama raped Hiei and took him for a mate against his will?"
Yukina nodded and said "Yes." Kuwabara piped in "So why doesn't Hiei just......find another mate? Or cheat?" Yukina shook her head and said "He cannot. Fire demons are fiercely loyal. If you win their trust and respect, they will fight for you without question. However, when it comes to mating, they are even fiercer in their loyalties. Hiei will never stray from Kurama. He will never look at another as a potential lover. Nor will he ever let anyone mark him again. He cannot survive alone. The mark is not reciprocated which means Hiei will die." Keiko said in protest "But, what do you mean Yukina?" Yukina sighed and said "Hiei has to mark Kurama as well to finish the mark. Since Kurama is the one that marked him first, Hiei is submissive to Kurama. Even if he doesn't want to be, his loyalty as a mate will not let him disobey any and all of Kurama's commands. If Kurama told Hiei to die, Hiei would. It doesn't matter now though. Because Hiei will die if he cannot reciprocate the remark. Even when the mark is reciprocated, Kurama-san will have to work harder too. He will have to train to be stronger. Because if Kurama-san dies, so will Hiei." Keiko shot Yusuke a worried look while Yukina pulled the blanket up again to hide the mark.
Shizuru, who had been silent the whole time, finally spoke "So what's this got to do with Kurama's wedding to
Sakura?" Yukina after changing the towel for a cool, wet one, said "In the demon world, mates are true soul mates. Marrying a human when you have a mate is taboo. It's considered the greatest insult among mates to have your mate married to a human. It is very much like your humans marrying a woman and having an affair with another woman out of wedlock." Yukina wiped Hiei's face clean before she continued "Marrying a human when you have a mate means that your mate isn't good enough to serve you as a lover, as a protector, and the mate can't even sate your needs so the mate had to have it sated with a mere human. It's a grave insult among demons." Yusuke bristled and said "I don't think Kurama could have knowingly done this!" Yukina shook her head and said "Most demon mates die from the shock of this taboo. The mate with the human lover will survive because he or she is the one that left for the human and therefore has a pseudo mate, but the other half of the mate will wither away and die." Yusuke shook his head and said "So what's this have to do with Kurama killing Hiei?"
Yukina stood and said leading the group back to the dining area "Youko Kurama is a promiscuous demon, infamous
for killing his mates when the mate was no longer of any interest to him. Youko has only done it twice, but, there's nothing stopping him from killing Hiei now. Since he married a human, he has chosen her over his true mate and now, even if he doesn't kill Hiei by his own hand, Hiei has already begun to die." Kuwabara asked then "What if Koenma brought Hiei back to life like he did with Yusuke?" Yukina shook her head and said "Once you die from the mating mark, you cannot be brought back to life. If Hiei dies from this there is no turning back." Shizuru interjected and asked "How do we save him then?" Yukina said with a sad frown "The only way to save Hiei-san is to let him claim Kurama as his mate, and for Kurama to annul his marriage to Sakura." Shizuru shook her head and said "Can Hiei even last that long? Once you're married, if you want an annullment, you have to wait for six months before you can get one." Yusuke said "There's divorce though! Why can't he just do that?!?" Shizuru shook her head and said "Kurama won't do that to Sakura if he agrees. An anullment wouldn't appear on her state record, and would give her a blank slate. Kurama doesn't want to hurt her." Yusuke sighed and said "Well Yukina? Can Hiei survive 6 months?"
Yukina shrugged and said "I don't know Yusuke-san. If Hiei is allowed to reciprocate the mark on Kurama-san,
maybe he can make it, but that means that Kurama would have to be a willing mate because he loves Hiei and not
because he feels guilty for what he has done to Hiei." Yusuke furrowed his brow in thought.
Shizuru piped in "When the honeymoon for Kurama and Sakura is over, we'll break the news to Kurama, and deal with it then. Hiei is a strong demon, he can wait a month until we tell Kurama about his mate that he's left behind."
