Author's Note:
Alright, so I know I've been bitching about not knowing how this story was going to end,
but I think I've got a somewhat good idea now. The only thing I can't decide is, do I want
our love birds to have a happy ending or should it be a sad ending? idk....right now...(my
mood at the moment) I'm leaning towards the depressing ending. :/ I need a minimum of FIVE
reviews telling me which ending you would prefer, the happy or the sad ending. I will take
the said opinion into SUPER STRONG consideration when I'm wrapping up the story. Savvy?

Chapter 7--- START

Recap:
Yukina shrugged and said "I don't know Yusuke-san. If Hiei is allowed to reciprocate the
mark on Kurama-san, maybe he can make it, but that means that Kurama would have to be a
willing mate because he loves Hiei and not because he feels guilty for what he has done to
Hiei." Yusuke furrowed his brow in thought.
Shizuru piped in "When the honeymoon for Kurama and Sakura is over, we'll break the news
to Kurama, and deal with it then. Hiei is a strong demon, he can wait a month until we tell
Kurama about his mate that he's left behind."

"How Poetic." a harsh, rough voice spoke from the darkness. The group jumped in surprise
as Hiei stepped out of the shadows. Hiei sneered at them all in his casual 'better than
you' way. Yusuke glared back, but Hiei, Hiei snarled. Even Yusuke was stunned. Sure
Hiei was a violent guy, but now, he was dangerous, no longer violent, like Hiei had
forgotten the honor code he once carried. This put Yusuke and Kuwabara on edge, determined
to protect the women. The look in Hiei's eyes made it clear that he would not hesitate in
harming Yukina either, which was one of the reasons Yusuke was tensed and on edge. Even
Shizuru could sense that everyone's favorite fire demon was no longer a hundred percent on
their side. He was......wilder as if the part of him that they had lost had gone feral,
wild, animalistic. Hiei's loyalties had swayed to the wildness of the inner demon in him
which meant his morals and ethics, however twisted they were, were all but obliterated.
The look on Hiei's face told everyone in the room that the only reason they were still
alive was because it was on Hiei's whim, not any other reason. Hiei wasn't in a forgiving
mood at the moment. Maybe when he was less angry and disturbed he'd be colder more. Hiei
spoke again, a angry snarl in his voice as he spoke to the group "You plan to tell Kurama
about what he's done to me. That's a brilliant idea. Kurama has made his choice. Besides,
Yukina. Did you tell them that even IF Kurama let me reciprocate the said mark, it might
not work." Yukina shifted slightly, looking uncomfortable at having to explain something
that she had purposely left out. Finally, she looked at everyone's questioning looks. There
was no way she could avoid explaining this one. She inhaled and spoke to the confused group
"Kurama could still kill Hiei in order to get out of the mating. Or, if the mark was
reciprocated and both were in agreement, Kurama or Hiei could still die. Kurama-san, if the
Youko in him becomes stronger then Hiei will die. There's another way to get rid of the
mark that's.....faster but more painful. You cut the flesh where the mark is,off and destroy
it by fire or.....whatever method gets rid of the mark on the said piece of flesh, the
mating is officially and unofficially terminated."
Keiko piped in at this point finally "So, does that mean Hiei would still die." Yukina
nodded her head solemnly. She said "Yes, because if the mark is terminated that way, Hiei's
spirit will feel it and his mind and body will go into shock. Since Hiei has a lot of enemies,
if he's in demon world, any demon that has a grudge against him will not hesitate to kill him.
Hiei, if this happens while he's in the human world under our care, Hiei will slowly die from
hunger, dehydration and the lack of a half of his soul." There was a stunned silence that
permeated the room. No one could believe their calm, quiet, friend could have done this. No
one wanted to believe it. Kurama was always known for being the only one in the group to be
able to command and control Hiei. Now, faced with this new information, they knew that if
Kurama found out, they'd either have to fight to defend Hiei, or convince Kurama to annul
his marriage to Sakura and take Hiei as his mate.
Hiei snorted, disturbing the silence. He said coldly "Kurama has made his choice, and I
have made mine. I will not be made to stay as a part of the group." Hiei vanished. Everyone
whom had even a bit of spiritual powere let out a sigh of relief. Except for Keiko and Yukina.
Keiko may have known the facts, but she had never seen Hiei fighting, so she didn't quite
understand why everyone was so tense and upset. Yukina on the other hand was just upset. She
turned her big pleading eyes to Yusuke. She begged "Please stop Hiei! Yusuke, please!" She
then turned her eyes to Kuwabara. Kuwabara, one who could never deny Yukina anything grumbled
under his breath and said "C'mon Yusuke, let's go get the shrimp before he does something
stupid." Kuwabara and Yusuke trekked out of the compound and Yusuke and Kuwabara both went in
search of Hiei to stop him before he entered the Makai portal.
Hiei could sense them coming and that made him move faster. He made it through the portal
before Yusuke or the oaf could catch up to him. Although Hiei didn't have the lead for long
as he leaped from branch to branch. Just as he landed on a branch, he leaped off the branch
and flipped, landing on the ground in a crouch just as the branch and the branch behind it
and in front of it were obliterated by Yusuke's spirit gun. Hiei whipped around to face an
approaching Yusuke. He glared daggers at Yusuke and said, his voice cold with malice and
strong distrust, mixed in with some dislike "Detective." Yusuke and Kuwbara got into a defensive
position. Yusuke said "Come back with us to the temple Hiei. We need to wait for Kurama so that
we can sort this situation."
Hiei snorted and said "No. It's none of Kurama's business anymore. There is nothing to sort
out Yusuke." Kuwabara drew his sword and Yusuke got into a fighting position. Hiei looked
only mildly surprised. He said his voice hiding the surprise with malice and barely controlled
rage "You would fight me to bring me back to the temple?" Yusuke said softly "We don't want
to Hiei, but if this is the only way to get you back, then I guess we have to." Hiei hned
and not drawing his sword which he had snagged as he left, said "So be it detective. Fight me."
Yusuke rushed towards Hiei, Kuwabara of course ran interference, unfortunately, his attempt
failed because while he could barely dodge Hiei's punches, Hiei didn't miss on the one punch.
It was strong enough to send Kuwbara flying. Kuwabara crashed through trees, hitting everything
in his path until he came to a stop several feet through the portal. The wake of destruction
left behind showed that Hiei hadn't held back at all.
Yusuke grinned at Hiei and said "Guess it's just you and me now Hiei." Hiei hned. He tensed
and got into a fighting stance. In a flurry of movement, punches and kicks were exchanged. Each
managed to defend and fight back. Neither of them held back. But Yusuke wasn't exactly fighting
fair anymore. This was being drawn out to long. He'd put Ki into this last punch and slammed
it home in Hiei's gut. Hiei choked, doubling over and just as he was about to reciprocate the
punch, Yusuke slammed his elbow into Hiei's back slamming Hiei to the ground. Watching Hiei
get up shakily, Hiei muttered "I'm sorry about this Hiei." Yusuke charged. After Hiei landed
several bone breaking punches on Yusuke, Yusuke slammed a punch into HIei's throat, aiming
to knock Hiei out, which he did successfully. Hiei collapsed into Yusuke's arms. Wincing in
pain as he threw Hiei over his shoulder, he made the trekk back to the portal to Genkai's
compound.
Once Yusuke made it through the portal with Hiei, he was greeted by an anxious Yukina.
Shizuru and Keiko had helped Kuwabara back to Genkai's temple while Yukina waited for Hiei
and Yusuke to come back. She said "Yusuke, are you both alright?" Yusuke shook his head and
said "I think I've got a broken arm, and a few broken ribs. I don't know about Hiei though."
Yukina nodded and said to Yusuke "Hold still Yusuke, I'll heal your ribs so that you can
breathe easier." After a bit, she began healing Yusuke's ribs. Once she had healed it, Yusuke
grinned and said "Much better, thanks Yukina!" Yukina nodded and said "When we get back, I'll
do my best to heal your arm." Yusuke nodded and said "That'd be great."
Twenty minutes later found Hiei tucked into bed while Yukina healed Yusuke's arm. When
she had healed it, Yusuke flexed his arm, finding himself good as new except for the bruises.
Yukina said "I'll go heal Hiei now, excuse me." She got to her feet and left the room to
go and heal Hiei. Hiei had broken ribs, a broken arm, his ankle had to at least be sprained,
and she wasn't quite sure what else was broken or damaged, but those were the damages she'd
found and she went to work on healing them.
In the mean time, Yusuke, Kuwabara, Shizuru and Keiko all sat in the dining room to talk
about Hiei. "We have to tell Kurama. He'd want to know." Keiko piped in. Yusuke shook his head
and said "What happens if Kurama tries to kill Hiei then?" Shizuru piped in "Hiei is Kurama's
best friend. Even Kurama wouldn't do that to his own best friend." However, her doubtful
expression made it clear that even she didn't know if they should tell Kurama." Kuwabara
spoke "I don't know if we should tell Kurama about the shrimp. I don't like the shrimp, but
even I don't want him dead." Shizuru sighed before she said wisely "We tell Kurama. Yusuke
you should be there when we tell Kurama, just to make sure he doesn't kill Hiei. Kurama
has a right to know that he has betrayed his best friend." Everyone nodded in agreement. The
only people who didn't know or agree was Yukina and the unconscious Hiei.
When Kurama came home from his honeymoon with Sakura, he was in for the surprise of his
life.
