Scene 81 ------------------------------------------- Two Weeks Later

* Yusuke is relaxing on the balcony, holding a very rotund, hibernating Hiei. For the past three days the Toushin has refused to leave the koorime alone since he's now a week overdue. Yusuke is beginning to worry that Hiei's weak condition maybe hindering his timing. If this is the case, then it will force Yusuke to make the next hard decision of when to just take the baby. Since he is so absorbed in his worries he pays no attention when the door buzzer sounds inside. It does finally wake Kurama, who is overdue himself, in the den. The kitsune grumbles as he works himself out of his nest and out to open the door. Hokushin bows, but Kurama's eyes are now frozen on who the bald general has showed to their door.


Hokushin- Sorry to disturb you, Lord Kurama..

Kurama- Ryuji, please come in.. Thank you, Hokushin.


* Hokushin quietly turns and leaves as Kurama shows Ryuji in.


Kurama- Well, this is.. a surprise.. We heard about Mukuro, but..

Ryuji- Oh, about her banishing me, you mean?

Kurama- She.. banished you?

Ryuji- Yes, she released me a couple weeks ago.


* Now Kurama notices that Ryuji is wearing Yomi's insignia on his black tunic.


Ryuji- Isn't that what you were referring to?

Kurama- Err.. No.. We heard that she'd slipped into a coma.. She's been unresponsive this past week.. You didn't know?

Ryuji- No.. I'm afraid I've been.. busy.. for the past couple weeks.

Kurama- Settling in under Yomi, I assume?


* The fire demon smirks up at Kurama.


Ryuji- Literally.


* He then lowers his eyes and sombers.


Ryuji- (Quietly) So she has finally succombed to the tumor on her brain.

Kurama- You knew she was ill?

Ryuji- I learned of it the night she ordered me to leave her territory.. We have plenty of time to chat.. Please tell me that I'm not too late to help Hiei.


* Kurama closes his eyes and opens his senses to search for Yusuke a moment.


Kurama- Yusuke has him out on the balcony getting some sun.. He's a week overdue.. I'm almost a couple weeks over myself.. I'm trying to hold off until this situation with Hiei is resolved.. Come on.


* Kurama motions Ryuji to follow him through the sliding glass doors onto the balcony. They find Yusuke seated on the futon cradling Hiei in his arms. For a moment they watch Yusuke stroking the koorime's spikes.


Kurama- Yusuke,.. someone's here to see Hiei.

Yusuke- You know that we're not..

Kurama- Love.


* Finally Yusuke tears his eyes away from Hiei's pale, unresponsive face. He swallows when he looks up and sees Ryuji.


Yusuke- You..

Kurama- Our miracle has arrived, koi.


* Ryuji goes over closer to face Yusuke and sinks to one knee respectfully. The fire demon looks so much like Hiei that Yusuke lowers his eyes, unable to gaze at him for long.


Ryuji- Lord Kurama tells me that Ani is overdue..

Yusuke- A week.. Yukina's already had her baby and she was a little further along.. Since you're here, does that mean that Mukuro's finally..

Kurama- Yusuke.


* Ryuji sighs.


Ryuji- I understand that you're upset, Lord Urameshi.. Please forgive me for not being able to come sooner.. I was busy being claimed by my new Alpha.


* Yusuke looks back up at Ryuji. Kurama narrows his eyes at the fire demon.


Ryuji- When my brother is safe I'll explain everything.. You do have a medical facility, correct?

Yusuke- Yeah.. I have the whole staff on full alert downstairs.. Kurama's overdue, too..


* Ryuji reaches a hand out to touch Hiei tentatively, but hesitates to look up at Yusuke.


Ryuji- May I please check the baby?

Yusuke- Sure.


* Yusuke watches Ryuji continue to touch Hiei's expanded middle. He then looks up at Kurama as Ryuji closes his eyes to concentrate.


(#) Kurama- He told me that Mukuro has a brain tumor.

(#) Yusuke- Well, that explains a lot..

Ryuji- The baby is ready.. But Hiei's too weak to even go into labor..

Yusuke- D---! It's Junior's fault! He kept telling to wait for..


* Enlighten finally reaches Yusuke and he glares at Ryuji.


Yusuke- That son of a b---- knew that you were gonna be here..

Ryuji- I know nothing about that.. But we need to get Ani into surgery now or he'll lose this baby, Sir.


* Yusuke nods and stands with his bundle.


Yusuke- 'Rama, call the medical facility.. Have Hokushin come up to watch the other kids.


* Ryuji follows Yusuke back through the livingroom as Kurama moves to the communication station.
