Hiei's Harem - Pt. 18 - Ending

Scene 9 ----------- The Next Day/Human World


* Kuwabara places a cup of tea in front of Yukina as he prepares to sit down beside her. Before he can do so he senses a presence and meets Yukina’s eyes. She smiles and stands excitedly.

Yukina- Perhaps he’s come to give us news about Staci.


* Kuwabara shrugs then follows her out, trying to make sense of the odd feelings he’s getting. They hurry out onto the back porch and find Hiei standing alone just at the edge of the dark forest.


Hiei- She’s.. not coming.


* Kuwabara scowls and gently places a hand on Yukina’s shoulder.


Kuwabara- What happened, Hiei?

Hiei- She’s dead.. I killed her.


* Yukina covers her mouth. Kuwabara steps around her and moves down the stairs to the ground.


Kuwabara- What’d you do to her?!


* Yukina stays put and quells her sorrow so she can study Hiei. She now begins to feel the strangeness in his aura also. Hiei’s eyes remain unfocused as he answers coldly.


Hiei- She gave birth to my son.. I held him while she died.

Kuwabara- And you didn’t try to save her?!


* Yukina blinks down the stairs to grasp Kuwabara’s arm.


Yukina- Kazuma,..

Hiei- No.. I did nothing.. I just stood there and.. watched her die.

Yukina- Hiei,..


* Kuwabara pulls Yukina back when she starts toward Hiei.


Kuwabara- Stay back, Yukina.. He’s not acting right.

Yukina- Kazuma, he’s.. hurting.

Hiei- Are you angry enough to kill me, fool?


* Kuwabara looks back at Hiei surprised.


Kuwabara- No. We’re going back inside.. You go back to Demon World and..

Hiei- Aren’t you the only one left defending this pathetic world of wretched weaklings?


* Kuwabara swallows.


Kuwabara- You’ve lost your mind.

Hiei- Then stop me.

Yukina- No! Hiei, you don’t know what you’re..!


* When Hiei lifts his arm and summons some flames Kuwabara presses Yukina back further.


Kuwabara- He’s lost it.. Get inside, Yukina.. I’ll have to try to..

Hiei- Yes. Come on, Kuwabara.. Be a man and draw your sword.. Try to stop me from finishing your race!


* As Kuwabara draws his two Spirit Swords a portal opens quickly nearby. Hiei growls and glares toward Koenma.


Hiei- You stay out of this!

Koenma- Hiei,..


* Hiei glares back up at Kuwabara.


Hiei- Do it, fool! Strike me down now!


* Koenma suckles his pacifier with quick nervousness as he looks back and forth between the two swordsmen. Suddenly it makes sense to the godling what Hiei’s doing. But before any of them can move Yukina bolts around Kuwabara and quickly approaches Hiei. The apparition growls and takes a couple steps back, his jagan flaring even more behind his bandana.


Hiei- Don’t touch me, Yukina!

Yukina- It’s enough, brother.

Hiei- Stay back! I don’t want.. to.. ahhh!!


* Hiei grimaces and lifts his left hand to grasp his head. Yukina reaches out and uses her own energy to snuff out the flames on Hiei’s right hand.


Hiei- You must.. hate me.. Didn’t you hear me?! I-I let her..

Yukina- I don’t believe you.. You wouldn’t have done that.

Hiei- But I.. did.. Ask him! He’ll tell you the truth!


* Hiei blinks away from her and staggers to regain his balance as the jagan continues fighting off the remainder of the spell that he’d allowed to take hold of his mind. Kuwabara looks toward Koenma.


Koenma- Staci knew she wouldn’t survive giving birth to such a powerful baby.. She made Hiei promise to let her deliver the baby.. Then she died in peace.

Hiei- No! She died in.. agony! I told you, didn’t I? I did nothing! My honor meant more.. to me.. th-than she did..


* Yukina’s expression softens. She moves forward once more and captures Hiei in her arms as he’s about to collapse. Hiei watches over her shoulder, stunned, as Kuwabara releases his swords.


Hiei- No! Kill me! I.. I have to be.. struck down by you!

Kuwabara- You’re not thinking straight, Hiei.


* Koenma takes the opportunity of his distraction and restraint to hurry over to Hiei.


Koenma- You need to rest, my friend.


* Koenma touches Hiei’s forehead. He can feel the last vestages of the spell being dissipated by Hiei’s jagan. When the eye closes Koenma uses his own energy to gently put Hiei to sleep. Yukina then turns him over to Koenma.


Koenma- I’ll take him back home.. Then I’ll return and explain everything to you both.

Yukina- Will he be okay now?

Koenma- Once he’s back with his other mates I’m sure they’ll give him the comfort he needs.. The spell that caused all of this is gone now.

Yukina- Spell?

Koenma- As I said, I’ll explain when I return.


* Koenma then carries Hiei back toward his portal. Yukina hurries to hide her face against Kuwabara’s stomach. The Spirit World portal closes leaving the two to comfort each other and wait for the godling’s return.
