Summary:After an awkward situation breaks apart the group, wounded
hearts and suffering team mates turn cold shoulders to one another. When a
horrible accident occurs that no one ever expected, the group is forced to
reunite, but... can they forgive?
Warnings: I assume that if you're still reading, you are an
intelligent, open-minded person who won't flip out at the slightest bit of
shounen ai or yaoi in a story. Don't bother flaming if you don't like it,
no one's forced you to hit the next chapter button.
"Noooo!" the soft-spoken voice cried, racked with torturous sobs.
Several tear gems fell to the ground, rolling like marbles across the wooden
floorboards of the shrine. Yusuke shuffled his feet, uncomfortable in the
presence of a crying woman. Hell, he too had cried a great deal on the way,
and his reddened eyes were evidence of his suffering. Not knowing what else
to do, the raven-haired young man gently held Yukina's shaking body in a
comforting embrace.
"His wake is scheduled for tomorrow night, Yukina...I can take you with
me to the Kuwabara household now if you'd like, so you don't stay here
alone," he spoke softly. He had been unable to return to sleep after
Shizuru's call early that morning. Instead of remaining in bed, he'd thrown
on all of his clothes and trekked up his late mentor's shrine in the
mountains to visit the ice apparition who maintained it. Yukina was the
perfect choice to keep up Genkai's temple after the group's friendship came
to an end. She and Kuwabara were the only ones who remained impartial, and
Hiei refused to return to their world. Keiko never spoke to him again, and
moved away as soon as she completed school. Kurama was overseas, creating
animations and computer generated graphics for a well-known animating
studio. Botan and Koenma returned full-time to their duties in Reikai.
Everyone had left but the faithful Koorime.
"I don't deserve to go," the young girl whispered, tear-moistened crimson
eyes showing her guilt. He'd left because she turned down his proposal of
marriage, and now she would never know if he would still be alive now if
things had gone differently.
"Why not, Yukina?"
"Earlier when he visited me, he proposed, Yusuke. I turned Kazuma-san
down. What if it was all my fault?"
Yusuke stiffened, although it was not in anger at Yukina for her
confession. Even if some of his upset was partially directed at her, it was
for the words she said in guilt, rather than her admission of the evening's
events. "Don't ever say that, Yukina. Kuwabara wouldn't want you to blame
yourself. He'd never want you to cry, not even for him."
Yukina silenced and slowly nodded her head. "I...I want to say goodbye,"
she murmured. "Koenma-sama will let him say goodbye, won't he?"
"He'd better."
"I'll go...but there is something I must do first."

Kurama had immediately requested emergency time off to fly to Japan. His
boss, being the understanding individual she was, allowed him the days off
to pay his last respects to a childhood friend who had died heroically
saving another's l Wh While Kurama had always expected Kuwabara would be
one of the first amongst them to go, he had never thought it would be so
soon. Maybe fifty years from now when both of them had the bodies of old
men, perhaps.
While at the office, he called the air port and managed to secure himself
a first class ticket to Tokyo on the next flight. Unfortunately, it would
be quite early in the morning when he arrived, and it had taken a great deal
of convincing on his part to get his mother to promise that she wouldn't
rush to the airport to pick him up.
That evening, Kurama had left the office two hours earlyturnturning to
his Los Angeles apartment to pack his luggage and various belongings of
importance so that he could make his flight. A taxi had brought him to the
airport, and now, several hours later, he was soaring high above over the
Pacific.
While flying, and staring out into the vast stretch of blue ocean, Kurama
wondered if anyone told Hiei that their former teammate had been killed.
***
"Hiei-sama, you have a visitor," one of the youkai guards that patrolled
the borders called loudly across spacious terrain before Mukuro's palace.
Hiei stared out towards the bug-like vehicle approaching with suspicion,
fingers twitching to touch his katana hilt until he felt the familiar
presence of someone he had sworn himself to protect.
Yukina?! What in the name of Enma had possessed his sister to
venture into Makai, unguarded and without any chaperone or protection? All
common sense briefly fled Hiei, as he forgot Yukina had actually searched
safely for him for several years before Tarukane captured her.
Black booted feet hardly touched the ground as Hiei zipped towards the
approaching vehicle to where the beautiful ice apparition sat. The vehicle
halted as Hiei stopped before it, and for several moments the two siblings
stared in silence at one another. The first thing that Hiei noticed was
that Yukina's soft rose-colored eyes were filled with sadness and suffering.
In her recent letters, she had mentioned nothing but happiness.
"What happened? Who hurt you?" he spoke carefully, speaking in his most
gentle tone despite anger welling in his heart. Yukina climbed down from
the bug shaped vehicle, and the guard drove off to return to his patrols.
"I've brought bad news, brother. Kazuma-san...he...he was killed. I
know you didn't care that greatly for him, Oniisan, but I came all this way
to ask if you would come to his wake with me."
As if he could ever deny that aqua-haired beauty anything. The secret
was out, and ever since then, she'd had him wrapped around her pinky finger.
The only thing Yukina couldn't do over the past eight years, was convince
Hiei to return to Ningenkai. He firmly (but gently) refused. "Of course,
Imouto," he replied quietly, heart melting at the sight of her pain. "I'll
lead you to the Ningenkai now, and you can catch me up on what has
happened..."
Togethehe the two siblings turned and walked side by side from Alaric.
Hiei never thought to ask who else would be at that wake.
***
Yusuke had swallowed his pride and phoned the Yukimura residence to ask
for Keiko's current phone number. Since the split, neither parent liked the
youth anymore, and he could hardly blame them for the hostile tone.
"I didn't want to start trouble, Yukimura-san," he explained as patiently
as he could to her father. "It's important. I dunno if you've seen the
news yet, but my friend Kuwabara died. I just wanted to know if Keiko was
gonna come to the wake. Yeah. I got it. Thanks." He wrote down the phone
number that was given to him, and hung up.
Although he had forgiven Keiko, he was not quite sure if she had dohe
he
same. When he called, the phone was answered by a male voice, one that
thankfully didn't seem to know who he was. "Urameshi Yusuke, Keiko's
childhood friend. It's kinda important. You know, an emergency and stuff."
The phone switched hands, he heard mumbled speaking in the background, and
then the cool voice of Keiko addressing him through the phone.
"What do you want, Yusuke? And how did you get my phone number?"
"Your father gave it. I didn't call to start trouble or anything.
It's...it's Kuwabara, Keiko." Yusuke swallowed, feeling his mouth go dry
as he was forced to speak a sentence he never dreamed he would have to. "He
was shot last night...he didn't make it." There was silence at the other
end of the phone line, then as expected, the sound of a strained voice
questioned him again.
"This isn't some sick joke, is it, Yusu" H" He heard the trembling
beneath her accusatory tone, and sighed. Tears and the sound of choked
sobbing soon followed after he repeated himself, and said she could confirm
his news by calling the Kuwabara household. Once again, he heard muffled
speaking in the background, and Keiko whisper to the male presence, "A
friend I grew up with died." The palm over the receiver didn't quite fully
muffle the sound of her crying as it increased in volume. "Oh, poor Yukina
and Shizuru," was all she could get out through her sobbing for several minutes. "Yukina must
be heartbroken...how is Shizuru?"
"She's not takin' it well. His wake is tomorrow night, Keiko. I just
wanted to let you know. We were all his friends, ya know. He might be
there...to say goodbye if Koenma lets him like he did me."
"What time? I'll be there."
"Seven. I don't know who else is comin' though..."
"Everyone will be there, Yusuke. I don't doubt it."
Uncomfortable silence fell between them, and nothing was left but a tense
goodbye before he replaced the receiver into the cradle. Everyone he had
expected to see again was going to be there, he was almost certain Yukina
had ventured into Makai to retrieve Hiei.
He almost hoped Kurama would remain in the U.S., rather than risking the
chance of seeing Hiei explode and his his control at the wake. Could the fire demon see two of them without setting the neighborhood on fire?
***
[The morning of the Wake]Kurama had been unable to sleep during the flight. Truthfully, too many
troubling things were on the fox's mind for rest to come easily. After
arriving at the airport and collecting his luggage, he rented a car for
transportation during his week's stay, and drove to the nearest hotel...
When he arrived, he fell into blessed unconsciousness the moment he
tossed his long body across the comfortable mattress. Unfortunately, dre dreams were filled with the same troubling thoughts that plagued him during the long plane ride, and only a few short hours later he awakened in a cold sweat, gasping for breath. That night kept reliving itself.
Over and over he saw Hiei lunging at Yusuke, katana shining ominously
as the blade slid through Yusuke's abdomen. This time, Kurama hadn't been
fast enough to take the blow for his friend. The luck of the detective
remained with him during thame. me. Hiei's blade missed all sensitive
organs, although everyone who witnessed it were certain Yusuke would have
been in pieces had Hiei not exercised control over his emotions at the last
moment.
Then red eyes had shifted, and deep crimson stared at Kurama with almost
enough intensity to burn through his soul. One final sentence was spat at
him, and the jaganshi flitted to the nearby window and fled into the night
to return to Makai, never to be seen again by the eyes of any team member,
save those of his sister Yukina.
Then the ones who remained that had witnessed the attack, save Keiko and
Kurama himself, rushed forward to the young punk's side, relief flooding
several facial expressions as Yukina healed what was only a minor wound for
the Toranin Lord.
There was no doubt in anyone's mind that Hiei had spared Yusuke's life
that night, but would he do it again if he was still carrying a grudge?
Kurama brushed aside his troubled musings to check the time. The nearby
clock ticking noisily at the wall relayed the cruel message that it was now
nearly noon and that most people were awake and going about the usual daily
routine.
I should call Mother so that she'll stop wondering about whether or
not I've arrived safely, he thought, leaning towards the nearby phone.
He dialed the phone number, and answered every motherly and concerned
question she fired at him. "I shall be arriving soon, Mother. I must check
out first. Yes, I'll see you soon. I love you as well," he ended the call
with, hanging up. He didn't look forward to crawling out of bed, nor did he
look forward to the wake to take place that evening.
The kitsune spent nearly a half hour in the shower, washing the luxurious
mane of wavy scarlet locks. He then spent just as long blow drying the
thick mass of soaking, floral scented tangles. It may not appear so when
dry and styled, but his red hair was a nightmare after a shower. I
should have tied it up instead of washing it, he thought, staring at his
reflection once the blow-drying ritual was complete. He drew his hair into
a thick pony-tail, repacked whatever belongings he had removed for his
shower, and departed the room to check out.
The woman at checkout flirted shamelessly with the cute bishounen, not
missing a single chance to flash him her pearly white smile. Kurama wept on
the inside as he was painfully reminded of his Meiou High stalker, Mary Sue.
This girl reminded him an awful lot of that pretty, deliriously crazed,
completely moonstruck female that had followed him around an entire high
school term until finally the Principal's threat of expulsion for
harassment forced her to stop.
He ran quickly from the hotel once his bill was paid.
***
Hiei and Yukina returned to the temple from Makai during the afternoon.
There was still some time before the scheduled wake, and his sister insisted
he dress nicely for the occasion, rather than wearing the usual black cloak
and pants.
"I made this for you last year, Oniisan, but I was saving it for a
special occasion," she whispered in a choked voice. The ice apparition held
up a ebony kimono of fine silk with a deep red trim, perfect for the
diminutive fire demon.
"You didn't have to make this for me, Imouto." Hiei sighed, then smiled
faintly at his little sister. Over the years, he had spoiled her with gifts
from the Makai. Packages containing a various assortment of expensive
combs, dresses, kimonos, and exotic sandals and formal wear had been brought
to her by imps in Hiei's servitude.
"It's my thank you for the beautiful gifts, Oniisan. It really wasn't
necessary to send me so many wonderful things from Makai."
Hiei shook his head. Besides his former best friend, the only person
that could truly make him smile was Yukina. "You deserve everything I've
ever given you, and more," he replied, taking the kimono from her.
Yukina left the room, needing to prepare her gift for the wake. She had
cried several hiruiseki when Yusuke relayed to her the horrible news. She
had found all eight before setting out for Makai, and strung six of them
onto a string that she planned to place within Kazuma's casket. The
remaining two she had decided to tie to separate strings, and give one to
Shizuru and one to Yusuke.
Hiei tossed off his cloak, and dressed into the new kimono, admiring its
design. His sister truly was skilled, and he was thankful to have such a
loving and wonderful sibling. During the walk, she had told him of what
happened the night of Kuwabara's death, and it had taken much convincing for
her to finally stop blaming herself. He had immediately taken notice of the
golden band twinkling with jewels at his sister's finger, and understood the
sentimental value it held for her. He wasn't too knowledgeable of ningen
customs, but a few years of living in their world was enough to know it was
a symbol of betrothal.
He would never admit it to anyone, but he was sad that the big oaf was
gone too.
"Are you ready to leave, Yukina?" he asked, keeping his katana with him.
Wake or not, he refused to go unarmed. The detective and the fox would be
there, and he didn't trust either as far as he could throw them.
***Told in Yukina's Point of View***
By the time my oniisan and I arrived to Kazuma's home, many mourners had
already arrived to pay their respects. I was rather nervous to be there in
the presence of so many humans, frightened that I might cry once more and
that my tear gems would reveal me for what I am. The reassuring grip of
Hiei's hand holding mine eased my fears and worries. With such a strong and
protective brother at my side, I felt I could never come to harm.
Hiei had carried me most of the way, jumping from building to building
and rooftop to rooftop so that we would arrive on time. A few blocks away
from our destination, he leapt to the sidewalk and set me to my feet when no
one was looking. We had walked the remaining two street corners until we
arrived at the Kuwabara household where Shizuru-san, her husband, and
Kazuma-san had lived. The last time I had visited their home while so many
humans were about, had been during Shizuru-san's wedding four years ago.
Now, there were dozens of them outside mingling on the lawn, going inside in
in pairs or one at a time to pay their respects.
"I'll be right here," Hiei told me, releasing my hand. I didn't need to
look for long to see the reason for his hesitation to enter. Kurama and his
human mother were inside, the last pair to have entered and pray at
Kazuma-san's coffin. I watched as they walked away from the casket and
knelt near Shizuru to pray for her as well.
"Won't you come with me, Oniisan," I whispered to my scowling brother,
unable to hide my disappointment. I know Kazuma-san would lik like to see
them behaving this way at his wake. We had all been friends at one time,
and for them all to continue this stubborn hatred of one another was
disrespectful of his memory.
"I'll join you in a moment," he muttered, avoiding my gaze. I could tell
he was still hurt, and that his anger at Kurama was ly rly returning. I
leaned forward to kiss his cheek, then smiled as his crimson eyes grew
large. I had always had that affect on my brother, and now that I knew for
certain he was my twin, I used it to my full advantage in helping me draw
him out of his shell.
I turned away from my oniisan, then began to walk for the door until my
entrance was blocked by the lingering form of a male with greasy hair.
"Yusuke-san?" I called, recognizing him as I stepped onto the porch. He
didn't move, but Yusuke would never ignore me. He was in his own little
world, staring inside at Kurama and Shiori-san. I gently touched Yusuke's
shoulder for his attention, and the startled man jerked around to look at
me.
"Oh...Yukina. It's good to see you here," he blurted out quickly, as if
that could hide that he had been watching Kurama. "I was just about to go
inside and pray."
I simply nodded in response. It was easy to see past his lie, but I
would not embarrass him further and reveal that I knew the truth. I reached
into my kimono sleeve and remove a pendant with a single hiruiseki stone
from the small inside pocket. "One for you, and one for Shizuru-san," I
whisper as recognition spreads across his features.
"Yukina, I can't--"
"Please, Yusuke," I insist. "In my village, its tradition for those
closest to the deceased tar tar the tears shed for their death."
He swallows, and I can tell its difficult for him to accept such a gift
He knows it's worth much m in in their human world and the spiritual and
demon worlds. His hand is trembling as he takes the pendant and lowers the
string around his neck. "I'll always wear it," he promises. "But what
about you?"
"I have this," I remind him, holding my left hand against my bosom, the
light of the lanterns nearby glinting off of the beautiful engagement ring.
Yusuke nods, and steps forward for the coffin, walking stiffly past
Kurama-san and his mother. Shizuru is alone with her husband again, and I
take this moment to speak to Kurama before he can leave.
"It is good to see you, Shuichi and Shiori-san," I greet them
respectfully. It was always difficult using his human name around his
mother. My brother refused to use the human name, and either called the
kitsune 'Kurama' or nothing at all.
"Hello, Yukina-chan," Shiori replies pleasantly. An expression similar
to shame flickers across Kurama's features as he gazes down at me. There
was no doubt that Shiori-san had seen this expression, because she quickly
came up with an excuse to leave us alone. "I'm sure you two would like to
catch up on things, I'll be on the lawn, Shui-kun. I saw someone I
recognize."
"Of course, Mother." Kurama and I wait until the woman has gone, then
slowly walk towards a more secluded area. I can tell he has many questions
on his mind, and that deciding which one to voice first is a battle. "I
sensed Hiei's presence," he murmurs carefully.
"My brother came with me...at my request. I'm glad you came on such
short notice. Kazuma-san is pleased you came to say goodbye, I'm sure."
"I didn't expect Hiei to attend," he says, as if thare tre the only
excuse and reason for his presence at the wake.
"It shouldn't matter if you three are all here."
Kurama silenced briefly, then nodded his head towards the road. "Not
only us three. Keiko just arrived a moment ago." He shoves his hands into
his pockets, and leans against the side of the house, staring at the grass.
"I owe you an apology for what happened three years ago. I shouldn't have
just left without saying goodbye to you at least, even if everyone else
hates me."
"My oniisan doesn't hate you."
"He could have fooled me," the redhead remarks bitterly. I can sense the
underlying hurt beneath that comment, and I sigh, gently hugging him.
"It might take years for the hurts to fade away that you four caused each
other." I gently touch his cheek, and smile. "Kazuma-san would not like
this. Please, remember what he said eight years ago."
"That all four of us were idiots and that I was the biggest fool of them
all."
"Kazuma-san would want you four to prove him wrong...by overcoming this
hatred of one another." I step back, then turn to make my way inside now
that Yusuke has exited.
I walk towards the coffin containing my friend's body, and kneel at the
pillows to pray. "You were such a brave man, Kazuma. When you risked your
own life to save me, I knew right then that your heart and courage would one
day be your downfall. I...I wish I hadn't let you down with my
selfishness...I should have considered your offer. My mother had done it,
could it have been so hard for me to do the same and fall in love with a
man?
"You would not want me to blame myself. But I couldn't let go of you
without saying I'm sorry. I hope you can hear me...Goodbye, sweet Kazuma."
I rise to my feet, then walk towards Shizuru to kneel once more. "He was a
good man, Shizuru-san. This is for you," I say, handing her both pendants.
"The one is for you, and the other is to be kept with him to keep away the
evil spirits."
Shizuru's tear-filled gaze meets with mine, and she then stared at the
pale blue pearl dangling from the string. "It's beautiful...thank you,
Yukina." She embraces me, and I gently return her hug, fighting back my own
urge to cry. Not only because there are humans around who would see my
hiruiseki, but because Kazuma would not want for me to suffer any longer.
I depart from the house in time to see Kurama approaching my brother. I
pray that their meeting goes well, and that no violence occurs on the night
of Kazuma's wake.
***
"Do you still hate me after all of these years, Hiei?" the soft and
familiar alto of a once beloved redhead murmured behind Hiei. The fire
demon turned to face Kurama, fists tightly clenched. The ex-thief had
somehow snuck up behind him, a feat that wasn't too difficult considering
who Kurama was, and what he had spent several hundred years doing in Makai.
"I'll only give one warning for you to step away from me, Kurama. If
this were not a respectable human event, I would cut you down where you
stand," he hissed without hesitation.
The fox nodded, hands shoved deeply in his pockets. He hadn't expected
any other answer, and would have felt suspicion if Hiei had greeted him
without hostility. "Naturally. That's your choice." Kurama showed no sign
of moving from where he stood, and the temperature slowly began to rise
between the two demons. "I only ask that if you do kill me, you take me
away from the view of these humans to do it, and make up a suitable lie for
my mother concerning my disappearance."
The fine wisps of curling gray smoke that escaped his wards and rose from
beneath Hiei's kimono sleeve were clear proof of his anger, and the struggle
at containing his rage. "What do you think you are doing?"
"Trying to speak to the stubborn demon who was once my best friend. The
person I loved as much as my human mother."
"Once. Was. It's all in the past, Kurama. I have no desire to discuss
this."
"Yukina thought that we should put it all behind us."
"We have. I live in Makai, and you have your damned humans."
"They aren't my humans, Hiei," Kurama responded quietly, only his eyes
betraying his hurt.
"Aren't they? They were your reason for remaining here. Or have you
finally decided what you are?"
Suspicious green eyes narrowed, and Kurama glanced over his shoulder to
ensure that no one was within hearing distance of Hiei while the fire demon
went on his rant. "What do you mean?"
Blunt words followed. "You stayed in this realm due to your masquerade.
I wish to know if I now speak to the perfect human son, or to the
promiscuous kitsune whore that I parted with."
The redhead flinched at the severity of Hiei's words, and found great
difficulty in not revealing how much they truly did wound him. "Don't
pretend that you weren't also at fault," he finally answered, when he was
certain his voice wouldn't be ragged with emotion. "You made your choice to
remain Mukuro's lapdog."
"You know, Kurama..." Hiei paused, eyes glinting furiously as he
controlled his rising anger, and struggled to swallow back the rage that
each of Kurama's words built within him. "Only a kitsune could sleep with
half of their acquaintances, and claim the fault lies with another. If I
see you again, you will die." There was a flutter of silk, and the
space that Hiei once stood in was vacant.
***
Hiei hid within the shadows on the roof until he saw Kurama depart with
his mother. He then made his reappearance, and strode into the Kuwabara
household until he reached the coffin.
"So you're really gone." The fire demon lowered to his knees, then
stared at the box containing his former comrade's body. "You should've died
in battle, fighting against an honorable foe. Not like this. All of the
times that I called you an or a r a fool, I never realized that you were the
most loyal of all of us." Hiei shook his head, suddenly feeling foolish for
pouring out his heart to a body. I promised Yukina I would do this. As
if the stupid brat would let him stay for his own wake. I may as well be
talking to a box, he thought, deciding that it was harmless and
continuing his small speech. "I never thanked you for telling me what
happened behind my back during my absence." He then did the most
uncharacteristic thing Yukina would have never expected. Hiei raised one
hand, and gently touched the coffin. "Thank you, Kuwabara. Rest in peace."
Yukina, who stood in the doorway watching ever since her brother's darkly
clad form entered to say his goodbyes, smiled and quickly stepped away from
the door before he could discover that she had been spying. A few moments
later, Hiei emerged, and the pair walked away from the house together to
return to Genkai's shrine.
I do hope I got the minor details and such write, I don't know much of
how the Japanese funeral thing goes, and I tried harder this time to keep
people in character than I usually do. (I've never had a fic get so many
responses its first day O_O ) More will come soon, the wake isn't yet over!
And we'll find out what Koenma and Botan think of the death in my third and longest chapter. (oi, they're progressively growing longer) With more Hiei coming as well for silver shiruken (mmm mmm mm, tasty fire demon)
Sneak Peak at next chapter: The wind rustled the curtains beside the window. It was a noise that definitely wouldn't have disturbed the redhead had he been asleep, but too many painful memories weighed heavily upon his heart for rest to come easily that night. As he turned to face the window, with intent of sliding out of bed to close it, he saw a figure in black blending with the shadows at the room's corner, menacing, and evil with scarlet red eyes.
"I suppose this means you've come to kill me after all, Hiei?"
To Reviewers at mm.org:
Ataure: Thank you! When I originally wrote that opening I didn't even know
what kind of story I was going to write! I just held it until something
perfect came to mind. I kind of wanted to draw it out, while hinting at the
same time.
Foxflame: It wasn't mentioned :) but I thought just teasing with a few
tidbits and hinting would make the reader's minds work. Most of you should
be able to figure it out, and if not welllllll its coming up soon. Yeah, I
didn't think anyone would see the Yukina turning Kuwa down thing coming
either. I've seen a few good arguments that Yukina wouldn't understand love
outside of love for one's family or friends since she comes from a race of
asexual creatures.
To Reviewers at ff.net:
o0Keaira0o: Oh I love your stories! Your author nick has been in my
favorites for a long time. Glad you like. You could be correct, I'm not
trying terribly hard to hide what caused strife between them all although I
may try to toss in a twist to throw you smart folk off.
Skittles the Sugar Fairy: It's coming soon! Next update I estimate at
2-3 days.
Reikachan14: You make me blush! I appreciate your comments. This
plotline came to me in one of those lightbulb moments where an idea just
*pops* into your mind.
Katy: This chapter shoulda been more of a hint! Ya catch on yet? Get
some more tissues ready for next chapter.
Koritsune: I just finished reading your story, good job, I'm glad to see
you're reading my new one too :). The next installment should come soon,
I've gotten a large burst of writing inspiration, so this story might come
out *very* quickly compared to my others.
Jena: Glad you agree! I'm not a huge Kuwabara fan, but for the purposes
of the fic, Hiei doesn't hate him in my story the way he does in most, and
seems to in the series. Mostly due to the fact that Kuwabara was the only
one who told him the truth in the story.
Lady Lanyara: Pretty name! I've accomplished my goal of making people
cry! Woooooo. Hope this chapter answered some of your questions. I just
imagined Kurama in an artistic occupation, I suppose, and I could imagine
him creating beautiful designs (my husband does gorgeous poser images, I
guess I was thinking of him.) As chapters go on, the story will reveal more
of what's happened to the other characters over the eight years. So if its
not explained in one chapter.. count on it to come up soon.
As usual, constructive criticism is welcome, flames are not and I'll
simply ignore them. So don't bother. Kuroi-san gives some of the best
constructive criticism on FF.net. If I missed replying to your post, sorry!
I didn't intentionally leave you out, but there were a lot of reviewers
and some of you asked the same questions!
